Pedophilia and harassing waitresses after church seem pretty important to them too. I remember working retail in high school and college and the Sunday lunch crowd was the absolute worst.

There's quite a lot of diversity among Christian believers. There isn't a singular American Christianity.

I hope you don't think this only applies to Christians?

They're traits that tend to come with religion in general.

There is quite a lot of diversity among believers of all religions. I'm not sure that the is a singular American of any religion. However, the standard we have set in this country is we paint the entire religion with the brush of the most extreme believers and demand the rest of the believers of said religion answer for the views and actions of the most extreme.

The is partially true but we can't pretend there isnt a HUGE rise of christian nationalism and intertwining of politics and religion in this country

It's not special treatment for Christianity or any religion. The same standard is applied to conservatives when it comes to Trump. When the crazies are largely running the asylum and driving culture change the rest have to answer for it or become attached to it by default.

Whether believers think it's fair or not, until people start to see more pushback from the non-crazy parts of the Christian faith, they're going to be lumped together by a significant portion of non-believers. It's easy to find countless examples online and in the media of church leaders and followers treating people shitty and completely ignoring the teachings that their book is based on. It's incredibly rare to see any pushback from the non-extreme believers that are always brought up in defense to create distance from the extreme.

There's a ton of pushback, it just doesn't have the media apparatus that the Christian nationalists have. Look at any number of Catholic nuns. Look at PCUSA, the Disciples of Christ, or the Episcopalians. Look at any number of Black churches.

The No Kings rallies have had a large component of Catholics and Protestants.

The ICE opposition has been full of Christians.

Most communities have a food pantry or clothes closet or AA meeting space or baby care closet, etc. coming from local churches that are largely in opposition to Christian Nationalism.

Trump is working with Roger Goodell to get Teddy Roosevelt inducted into the Pro Football HoF.

Yeah, I don't know either.

That is my point. I am not pretending there hasn't been a huge rise in Christian Nationalism. I am not pretending that the is not an intertwining of politics and religion in this country. I also refuse to sanitize what is happening either. I just refuse to engage in any sort of sugarcoating of what is actually occurring.

Fascinating how the Tucker/MTG wing of MAGA has gone all in on the Trump shooting being fake.

Trump and his cronies will lie about anything but didn't someone in the crowd die? I feel like that really complicates the "it was staged" theories unless these clowns are even more evil than I give them credit for.

It seems like one of the dumber conspiracy theories. It is odd they have essentially hidden all evidence but I just assumed it's because the shooter turned out not to be the antifa trans supersoldier they wanted to portray him as. Just a boring guy from a conservative family like the Kirk shooter.

To be clear, I think the idea that it was faked is totally crazy. I'm just really intrigued by how the most nutty faction of MAGA has turned their Pizzagate tendencies onto Trump.

One of the parts that makes it hard to believe it was not staged is that there are so, so many things that he never shuts up about, but he somehow never talks about this?

If you are a guy and you ever have a harrowing event happen, where you just barely escaped having something life threatening or otherwise really bad thing happen, you don't just not talk about it!

Given how narcissistic he is, something which causes him to actually think about his own mortality could very well be something he doesnt want to talk or think about.

Our Defense Secretary, who once said he hadn't washed his hands in ten years, is doing away with the mandatory flu vaccination for service members.

So let me get this straight. We are going to bail out the UAE. They are going to use that money to invest in the purchase of Warner Bros for Paramount so that they can own most of the media in the country.

Possible. I still think ot might have been an EMP attack, and we have some non-nuclear options for that, though a nuclear EMP would be less targeted and more devastating.

Looks like the redistricting in Virginia is going to pass.

I am not a fan of this but they started it in Texas and it is nice to see the dems actually fight back

I'm not optimistic that this gets past the VA Supreme Court. If it does hold then the bullshit redistricting likely comes out as draw even if Florida tries to maximize its gerrymandering.

Conservatives claim Texas was just fixing their maps, which ignores the fact that Trump asked them to go find him 5 seats, that kicked of their redistricting plan, and they happened to find 5 seats.

I thought Trump saying we might bail out Spirit was just talk, but apparently we're looking at basically buyng Spirit. A few hundred million for 90% of the company.

Just heard a VA state rep say they don't expect the Supreme Court to overturn the will of the voters.

We have a new variation of alternative facts. RFK Jr. told congress today that Trump has a different way of calculating percentages, which is why he keeps saying 500% or 600% reduction in drug prices.

He said going from 600 to 10 is a 600% reduction and even with stupid math I can't figure that out.

If it's just times 600, well that would get 6000.

If it's times six that gets to 60.

If it's plus 600 that gets to 610.

He also thinks Monterey is overrun by literal witches, so...

Regardless, firing the heads of the Army and Navy after a few weeks of war doesn't instill confidence in the team.

Being reported Hegseth was mad because the secretary was so close with Trump that he would go directly to him over Hegseths head. So the genius fired one of Trumps closest buddies. I am sure this will end well for him.
