I'm not in the camp of people who think Trump is going to cancel elections and be dictator for life, mostly because he's comically incompetent and surrounded by even more incompetent people. But starting an unpopular war that is driving up prices for everyone while putting all your political messaging behind a need to build a fancy ballroom for your friends is genuinely one of the dumbest political moves I've ever seen that it makes me wonder.

You generally have an idea of how prevalent MAGA is by percentage of voters that strongly approve of his job performance. That number has historically been in the mid to upper 30s. It was down to 18% in a poll I saw yesterday.

Trump reportedly doesn't give a shit either. He isn't running again and is telling aides he'll be dead when it comes to any long term party goals so he doesn't care to name an heir to MAGA or anything like that. The only thing he seems to care about is projecting himself as the most powerful person to ever live, which is what he's been telling aides and administration officials he is.
