TSA shutdown will end soon.

Media's been authorized to leak that there's a funding deal agreed to in Congress but Trump is holding it up.

They wouldn't be leaking that unless Trump's handlers have already agreed to change his mind.

One air traffic controller for all ground and air at LaGuardia? How can they not shut down most traffic if there's only one controller?

Are air traffic controllers not getting paid or is it just TSA?

They are paid, but there's apparently a serious staffing shortage.

My wifes sister is supposed to take her family to go to Puerto Rico with my wifes parents next week.

Sister and family live in England. Her and 2 kids are US citizens, husband is a white South African. They are supposed to go through Miami.

Sister just cancelled their trip because she is seeing it could take hours to get through customs, etc..and hearing reports of conflict with ICE agents and she feels it could potentially be an unsafe environment.

My wifes mother is super MAGA so this should really go over well.

I would not bother flying unless it was absolutely mandatory. My brother opted to take a 7 hour drive on a business trip instead of flying. Beyond the TSA mess, it just doesn't seem terribly safe with the ATC shortages and whatever the fuck they are planning with ICE.

Gotta trip next week. Didn't think to budget for "get to the airport 2 days early" when I bought the tickets in January

I would pay real money to hear Pilotman perform this:

I'm glad we didn't bail them out. Not great for the airline industry in general, but no need to throw money down the drain.

I guess they didn't give Trump any "donations" to save them.

I didn't see the actual reasoning, but the article said it was the creditors that actually turned down the bailout offer. That seems weird. However Trump's people structured it, the creditors found liquidating the airline more profitable than the government buying it out.

Liquidate the airline = some creditors get some money.

Take a Trump bailout = Trump family & cronies get the money.

Flying out of GSP early this morning for vacation. TSA was a little long for here, probably because it was barely open yet.

But there was a George Strait concert in Clemson last night. I have sent an inordinate amount of George Strait hats and shirts so far.

Edit: Landed for a layover in Miami and this place is like a Spirit Air graveyard.

Wasn't there a story that part of the bailout involved Spirit transferring part of their fleet to the DoD?

Yes, that was one of the plans.

Finally found the reason the bailout failed. The proposal was that the government "loan" $500 million for 90% of the company, and they would be the first creditor to be paid back. In other words, totally screw all other creditors. I knew it couldn't have been an actual "buyout."

Plane clipped a tractor-trailer on the roadway while trying to land at Newark. The video of the poor guy driving the truck -- who ended up with only minor injuries -- is some crazy shit

I've driven that stretch more times than I can count and it is creepy when a plane glides in a few feet over your vehicle.

I am fine with that. They weren't in a position of power and taxpayers should not be on the hook for poorly run businesses.

How he survived that is a miracle. That is incredible and I've seen some other people post videos of how close these planes get to semi trucks on approach.
