Saw Corrosion of Conformity and Clutch last night. They actually played in Lexington. I felt it was my civic duty to attend. Great show, although CoC's sound system was made for a place 10 times bigger and blew my ears out. Seriously, it was too much. Clutch's sound was spot on - loud but dialed in enough so that you could hear each instrument clearly instead of a wall of sound that shook your ribcage and made it difficult to hear riffs and vocals.
Opening for them was JD Pinkus, better known as the bassist for the Butthole Surfers. Dude was a comedian as much as a musician. Absolutely baked on stage, just him and an electrified banjo. Hilarious.

Olivia Rodrigo is going on tour. AMEX pre sale tickets go on sale today. We don't use AMWX so aren't eligible. My kids want to go so we thought maybe for an Xmas present. Jumped in the queue just to see how much tickets are going for. I am currently 111,843 in line. Insane.

My daughter wanted to get but has other obligations for the nights she's anywhere near us. She's already seen her twice though so she isn't super broken up.
Unrelated, but Salt Shaker by the Ying Yang Twins came across my ears while I was running today. Like most people, I'm familiar with the general sentiment of the song and the various descriptions of women's vaginal secretions mentioned therein. But I had never really noticed this section as being a combined request as opposed to just thinking of them as separate parts: "She's leaking! She's soaking wet" (repeat) AND "Shake it like a Salt Shaker" (repeat x4) I always thought of it as, first, this young lady is very excited. And then separately, he is requesting someone, possibly this lady or another, to move her ass in the manner one would use to put salt on French fries. But as I had nothing else to think about while I ran, I put those two sentiments together and wondered... is he noticing this woman is jucing and wants her to shake her ass so that she can then sprinkle the area with her womanly wetness like she's slopping up some steaks at Truffoni's? Maybe this was always obvious to everyone else, but this is the first time it's popped into my head in the 20+ years of listening to the song. |
