Did anyone mention Battle of the Planets? Or how about the Kid's Super Power Hour with Shazaam? Of course there are the non-cartoons from the Kroft Superstars (Land of the Lost, Wonderbug, Far OUt Spacenuts, Dr. Shrinker, Bugaloos, Sigmund and the Seamonster, and The Lost Saucer). Yeah and I agree that I don't like the fact that this is called vintage. Geez.

Dungeons and Dragons rocked but they cancelled it too early. Loved BOTH Voltrons. The one without the lions was one that had to grow on you. GI JOE, He man, Visionaries was a really cool show. Did anyone watch Galtar and the golden lance? Pirates of Dark Water?
Also I've got a question for everyone. I used to watch a show with the setting as an interplanetary backround. The main charater(s) was a spaceship that looked just like a submarine. I don't remember much about it but they were going to earth to try to save it. They always seemed to get attacked by the enemy. I know I don't remember much and I'm not expecting anyone else to remember either but if this rings a bell to anyone................ Oh yeah I forgot Jem and the Holograms and She Ra |

The show you're thinking about would be Uchuu Senkan Yamato (Space Battle ship Yamato), a.k.a. Star Blazers in North America. Actually, it wasn't a submarine. The Yamato was the largest battleship ever constructed. When Earth's war with Iscandar had gone so bad that the radiaation had driven the remnants of humanity underground and caused a chain reaction that would destroy the Earth in a year, the Yamato was raised (unearthed) and refitted into a spaceship. In the original version the spirit of the ship itself was a character in the show. There were many times that the ship surpassed what was supposed to be possible. That aspect was downplayed in the American version as the Yamato was an enemy batleship in WWII. Just call me FOFC's resident otaku. Last edited by oykib : 01-17-2004 at 09:31 AM. |

Do yall remember the show with all the interactive toys with holograms and such? Haha i dont remember a lot about it, besides all the toys that were quite the fad in its seemingly short run. It was prolly a bad show really. But i remember having that Jet/gun combo thing that you would shoot at the screen during the show and the toy had a counter would keep score for you. I also remember some sort of weird transporter room toy dealy that corosponded to the interactiveness somehow too.

Did anybody else watch dinosaucers? I use to love that show, and it seems like I'm the only person that ever watched it. It was around for quite a while which leads me to believe that there was a fanbase somewhere. Also for those of you who remember the tune...
Thunder Thunder Thunder Thundercats! Liono was the man. He had the greatest "hero" voice I think any Cartoon main character has ever had.

F***ing Macross and F***ing Harmony Gold. Considering the shit they pulled on one of my favorite RPG companies (FASSA), they can have.. well.. something very unpleasant happen to them,

Here's something to wet your whistle!
I'm not so sure if there was a cartoon that sparked a toy line (aside from He-Man) back in the day, but does anyone remember little "beast miniatures" from the late 80s/early 90s bit?
They had a "hologram" type square on the center of the miniature figure that supposedly changed color in the sunlight and all. I can't recall as to whether or not it was after a cartoon that was going on at the time. They pretty much resembled the same size of those "muscle men" that used to go around...

He-Man was the reverse. The toy sparked the cartoon-- not the other way around. That was about the time that Congress abolished the law that said that children's programming basically could not be a commercial for a product. That's why you never saw any Birdman toys as a kid. I believe that the toys you are thinking of were Battle Beasts. There were Wood, Water, and Fire Battle Beasts, and they were supposed to operate like Rock-Paper-Scissors. Wood beat water, water beat fire, and fire beat wood. I think you rubbed the 'hologram' to find display which kind of battle beast you had. Speaking of toys, Starcom, which was a little after my toy playing prime had among the best toys that I can remember. The cartoon was excellent as well. Also, how many of you Robotech fans watched Exo-Squad? |

Aha, there we go. That 'Wood', 'Water', and 'Fire' thing sounds very familiar.

Battle Beasts owned. I still have quite a large collection of my late 80s toys. Voltron, Transformers, Battle Beasts, et al.

Which Voltron? The Lions, or the 50+ Vehicles? Someone in my family gave me the latter as a gift awhile ago. Still have it; though, two parts are busted. I just liked the idea of connecting this and that altogether when I was little.

No, but I'm the youngest. I'll admit my stuff isn't in mint condition and that there's no resell value to it, but it has too much emotional value. Quote:

I know exactly what you mean by sentimental value. As a kid, I had the entire He-Man collection in hand. Pretty much, being the nice kid I was, I let my cousins from Walnut borrow them. I ended up getting them back in a garbage bag - in pieces. Seriously pissed me off for sure - I haven't seen them, nor my SNES in awhile. Of course, I'm a firm believer in 'bacchi' (sp? Eh, hukarez!) and the like.

I totally know what you mean. This is why I never lend anything out without getting something in exchange back. It's also the reason I don't buy used video games. I don't trust the people who had them before me.

My bad, I didn't know he had a thing for DOOL. Although I haven't watched in quite a while, I watched it for years & still follow the storyline closely enough (through my mother) that I could sit down & pick up on any given day. |

I watched it for ten years myself. I couldn't take the repeated storylines anymore by the time I got midway through college. Also, I'm rather annoyed that, except for Krista Allen and a Pregnant Lisa Rinna (who wants to see that?!), none of those DAYS starlets found it in their hearts to do any softcore pornography. They're as heartless as the characters they portray. |
