OT - 2003 Admirals Alumni NFL Player of the Year Poll
To get the attention a bit of off the sad happenings, I decided to create this little poll to let the FOFCers decide which former Amsterdam Admirals player had the best season in the NFL in 2003.
To my judgement, 10 players qualified to be nominated, but I decided to shortlist to serious 5 candidates. For obvious reasons, Kurt Warner was not on the initial list of 10 players. Miami's quarterback Jay Fiedler, Pittsburgh's tackle Oliver Ross and Denver's linebacker Donnie Spragan were the last three cut from te shortlist. Pick your Admirals Alumni of the Year and who knows what it will cause... Last edited by MIJB#19 : 01-16-2004 at 08:01 AM. |

Well, I am starting to think this poll wasn't needed at all, I think I could have announced Jake Delhomme as winner without a poll...

Not even a contest. Vinateri has had a very off year, otherwise he *might* be considered.

MIJB: looking back on it, in retrospect, your team has had two outstanding QBs back to back (Warner and Delhomme).
Last saturday, when watching the Rams/Panthers Divisional Playoff game, they showed Warner and Delhomme together on the same Amsterdam sideline with their Admirals jerseys... Really made me thought about 1987-88 when Montana and Young shared the same 49ers sideline and both went on to have Hall of Fame careers. Looks like Amsterdam is NFL Europe's QB town, much like San Francisco is the NFL's one

dola
Voted for Delhomme in your poll as well...how could it be any different ? the guy comes in the 3rd quarter in Week 1, throws 3 TDs to rally the Panthers to a win, grabs the full time starting job by week 2 and all he does is give the Panthers their first Division title since 1996 and a berth in the NFC Championship game. Awesome. probably the Most Valuable Free Agent of all this year in the NFL.

Very hard to argue with that. In fact, the Panthers may have the #1 and #2 FA signings in Delhomme and Stephen Davis. |

absolutely, Stephen Davis has been a monster.
...and Deshawn Foster looks like the real deal now in relief. This team seems to have a bright future. Very well coached. To be able to get the win in Saint Louis despite all those penalties they faced, that was outstanding.

Yeah, I red about the Warner with Delhomme as backup story (that was the last season for the Admirals not going 4-6).
Though at that time I wasn't the football fan I am today, I'm tossing with the idea to get a 50 Euro season ticket, it pays off at visiting 3 games out of 5 (and I really hope to visit 3 this year). Looking back, there are again a few Admirals alumni making it into the Super Bowl, yet Marcus Knight (with the Raiders) last year was alittle bit more fun as I saw him live in action, as did I for Championship losers safety Clinton Hart (with the Eagles) and center Situpe "Tupe" "2-consecutive encrouchment penalties" Peko (with the Colts). |
