Ping Sci Fi Fans
If this is a repeat post you can just suck it up.
If you are going to drop money on Sci Fi, why not make sure it goes to a good home, like into the pocket of Darren Hawkins (AKA Drake). Drake has a newly published book "From the Hands of Hostile Gods" which can be purchased from the publisher and on amazon. http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg...565350-0059251 http://www.silverlakepublishing.com/catalog/gods.html

What do you hear about it, Fritz?
Also, have you read the Honor Harrington series? Good stuff! |

Good call, Fritz - I already had it on order from Amazon after seeing Drake's mention of it in the "who are you" thread. Of course I'll want to get it signed eventually (by Drake, not you).

Having read bits from the author, some of them from this book I think, I can say I enjoy his flow. The genre does not generally appeal to me, so I don't have much to compare it with.

Contact me via PM if you'd like to see a sample or three. Be prepared to give me an e-mail address that will accept attachments.

Actually, I can do better then that.
Webscriptions offers CD-ROM isos that have many of their books in various formats.. and here's the cool stuff. IT'S LEGAL TO DISTRIBUTE!!!! (as long as you don't charge) they started this by offering a CD in the books, and they now offer the downloads from the website,

In the authors' universe, "sample" = full book. Anything else is half a sample.

I would like to piggy back onto this since we are pimping for our fav sci-fi authors here and make my endorsement for Iain M. Banks. He has built an entire universe around his Culture. Consider Phlebas and Player of Games are outstanding.
He also writes some books in a modern gothic style. Wasp Factory is a bit of a cult classic in some circles and has even been made into a play in England. Maynard from the band Tool at one point had WF listed on their webpage as one of his personal recommendations.
