WISE FWUM YO GWAVES! The Ascension Wars Redux
It is time...
Gertbeef has grown restless and after his short lived attempt to bring Glasgow Celtic to the top of the EPL he has decided to go back to what he knows best. That is, being the Adversary. I took a little break from Dominions 2 and with the release of the 2.08 patch and the fact that I'm bored off my ass I think it's time to go back to it. I think we'll stick with the same set up as last time as far as using Ashen Empire variation of Ermor as I had fun with it and I don't feel like messing with a new race just yet. It unfortunately won't really get going until this weekend probably as this week is kind of hectic. This will give folks plenty of time to sign up if interested! With the new patch I can actually rename commanders in game(I think), so it'll make things much easier to manage. So all you mother loving Undead out there, sign up for a spot in Gertbeef's hordes! Here's a link to the original if anyone is curious to know a little more about the game. I'm not going to go over it all again right here. The Ascension Wars Ok. Going to get to work setting up Gertbeef the Pretender now. |

We’re going to make Gertbeef a Master Lich this go round instead of a Prince of Death to switch things up a bit. I think with the right scales and such I can make a rather powerful spell caster. So we’ll go with this. The downsides are that he is susceptible to fire and not much for melee. He also lacks the flying ability of the Prince of Death, but he gets cheaper magic and that’s what we’re looking for.
Dominion Scales Order/Turmoil I slap this first one all the way to turmoil, as I’m not overly concerned with that. Turmoil just seems to lead to more of the population dying and that’s a good thing for us. Productivity/Sloth We move this all the way to sloth as the people are just going to die anyway and it’s not going to make a whole lot of difference how hard they’re working. It’s worth the extra points. Heat/Cold I move this one all the way to cold as well. I think most of our troops are Cold immune so it shouldn’t affect us, but will help to wreak some havoc on nearby provinces I think. Fortune/Misfortune This one goes all the way to misfortune. We’ll take our chances with this for a few extra points to spend on magic. Magic/Drain I bump our Magic to +3 as the plan is to be very magic heavy and this will help research which is pretty tough for Ermor. Dominion I bump up our Dominion to 9 for starters. Castle I go with the cheaper just plain ‘ole Ermorian Castle. Cheaper = better. Magic Ok, we’ve got quite a few points to spend here and I want to taste a bit of everything. I go ahead and place 4 points into each of Fire, Air, Water, Earth, Astral, and Nature. We can afford to push Death up to 5 and this leaves us with 19 points left over. Hate having that many points left over, but I’m pretty happy with this setup. We can do a little bit of everything, and should be able to make some pretty swank gear for our guys. He Has Risen Gertbeef, Prince of the Heavenly Fires, God of Fever, Lord of the North Wind, Prince of the Raging Seas is once again born onto this world. YESSSS ! Except there's more than 1 of us, notice the plural. Picture this : a flight of undead frogs, their leathery wings cracking in the wind... You can hear one word, being repeated over and over again, coming out of their big undead mouths : GERTBEEF ! GERTBEEF ! GERTBEEF ! GERTBEEEF ! GERTBEEF ! GERTBEEF !

So you didn't put 9 in anything? Does Ermor not have many blessed troops?

Ok, those who have signed up are on the list, and anyone else who wants to sign up chime in at any time as we'll have plenty of openings.
Triple F- I'll put in a good word for you to Gertbeef, and see what I can do. No promises though, as he can be somewhat uncooperative at times. What would you prefer to be known as in game, because I'm not typing that out. I have a feeling Gert will like your enthusiasm though, so you're in good shape! sachmo- Honestly I didn't run across many blessed troops my first go round with Ermor, but then again I didn't get very far. I think my getting blessed troops has to do with my dominion level, as you know I can't recruit any of my own. I'm not sure this is the better way to go, but I wanted to try out the widespread magic approach as last time I went all out in Death. We'll see if it was a good idea or not shortly. MrBug708- I can set you up as a spy but as a warning it won't be very glorious work. The Ermorian spies are basically just scouts. You'll be sent around to check out what the enemy has in provinces. I can definitely set you up as one if you want, but just fair warning. Ok, just got back from doing my first ever real road race, and now I need to haul butt back to my class. I'll decide on a map tonight and hopefully toss up a few pics this time as I think that will help people get a feel for what's going on much easier if they can visualize it. Stay tuned! Need more sign ups also, don't make me beg! |

Lord Mortax reporting for duty. I'd like to put on a robe and wizard hat, but I am flexible.

I want to be a salivating, bubbling mass of evil. I can wait to be recruited, as long as I am kick ass. And I need a magic item.

The Sundering
General Plan Ok, here's the setup for us. Nice small map to raise our chances of finishing this game, and I like the style of the artwork on the map. It's a little less painful on the eyes in my opinion than some of the others. We're not in an overly bad position here. I'm actually pretty pleased with it as we won't have a very large front line from the beginning at least. I like that. Our strategy to start with is just to basically work on getting the summons brought in that we need. We'll be looking to load up on researchers and bring in a few priests, and to have our soldierly types secure the bordering provinces. Then we'll work our way out from there and hopefully have an idea of what we're up against by that point. New provinces will be taken for all that is possible as quickly as possible. I will raise the tax rates as high as they will go in each new province to milk what I can before the inhabitants are slaughtered. Ok, next up we'll get things under way! JAG- We can definitely hook you up with the robe and wizard hat no problem. sachmo71- Gotcha. I'll put you on waiting for now. I can think of a couple random commanders I've seen in Ermor that will fit what you want quite nicely. You can wait on that or jump in earlier if it's not looking good. Don't worry on the magic items, as I plan to crank out a lot of them. That's yet another aspect of the game I have absolutely no knowledge of and want to tool around with this game. SirFozzie- I think I know just the thing for your Dark Paladin type. I'll have to look through the summons to remember, but I think we can do that for ya. Coffee Warlord- Glad to see ya sign up! Just the sort of name I need to help lead Gertbeef's Legions of the Dead to domination! Ok. It's been a long day. I'm going to lay back and chill for a while, and probably do the first turn or two later this evening. Feel free to ask any questions guys or give any pointers or recommendations. I'm open to about anything. |

Ok folks, some bad news.
I'm having to head out tomorrow morning back to Kansas. Had a death in the family yesterday evening and am going to be hanging out there for a few days. So the real start of this will unfortunately have to be delayed until the middle of the next week. |
