2006 WEEK TWO

Georgia (0-0) (-2) at NC State (0-0)
Columbus (0-1) at #12 Iowa (1-0) (-5)

In Georgia's game, QB Albert Brookins was instrumental in engineering a 21-point fourth quarter to give the Dawgs a 35-24 win. He threw two TD passes in the decisive quarter, and was 16 for 29 for 226 yards with 0 INT's on the day. T Kelvin Palmer did not play (In my preseason report, I apparently didn't notice the 61/61 and 78/78 former walk-ons on the squad. ) DT Doug May started and had 3 tackles, 1 assist, but not TFL, blocked passes, sacks or hurries.

QB Darren Abdul-Malik had a decent day in a blowout loss (41-17). He was 15 for 23 for 159 yards with 1 TD and 1 INT.

Both teams are off this week.

2006 WEEK FOUR
Macon (0-2) at #24 Georgia (1-0) (-11)
Columbus is off.

QB Albert Brookins looks very good against an outmanned SC8 squad: 20 for 30, 294 yards, 2 TD's, 0 INT's. T Kelvin Palmer again doesn't see the field. DT Doug May has 2 tackles, 3 assists and one tackle for a loss on the day.

2006 WEEK FIVE
Albany (0-3) at Columbus (0-2) (-6)
Georgia is off.

Ugh. Albany scores 24 points in the fourth quarter after a tight 3-quarter battle for a 27-3 win. Columbus continues to run the ball unsuccessfully, and QB Darren Abdul-Malik has a subpar game today: 8 for 16 for 84 yards with 0 TD's and 2 INT's.

2006 WEEK SIX
#19 Georgia (2-0) (-2) at LSU (1-3) (TV5)
Columbus (0-3) at #8 Air Force (4-0) (-28)

In the Columbus game, QB Darren Abdul-Malik is the only semi-bright spot in a dismal day. He is 12 for 25 for 181 yards with 1 TD and 1 INT in a 52-7 blowout loss.

QB Albert Brookins and company didn't fare much better down in Baton Rouge. Brookins was 11 for 25 for 161 yards with 2 TD's and 1 INT, DT Doug May only had one tackle and 1 hurry, and T Kelvin Palmer only was on the field for two uneventful (at least or him) pass plays. Worse, May broke his arm and is Out, and will be 12 weeks to full strength. His season may be over.

Bad day all around...
