What up Laker fans? Sorry...had to do it.
And I'm glad that Karl Malone didn't care about winning a championship anymore...so this loss probably didn't hurt him too much. He just wants to compete ...that's why he played tonight..........

Awesome... Malone and Payton must feel sad, knowing that a guy like Darko has a ring at 19 years old...

Satisfying. Very satisfying. Detroit showed that they wanted it more.
Congrats to the Pistons, and Larry Brown. Nice to see the good guys win for once.

Actually Darko doesn't turn 19 for another 5 days, which might make Malone and Payton feel a little better about that. |

LA had some good riots in 2000.
But you know, we tend to forget that. |

Damn, I have to admit, I was completely wrong in predicting this series. I thought the Lakers would be much better. I had them losing to Detroit in 6, not 5. Ah, this is frickin awesome! The funny thing is my old friend Buttercup called this championship last year already.

Big congrats to Detroit. Other than Rasheed Wallace, I can't think of a single guy on that team I don't like.
As usual, most of us got carried away with the media hype, although to be fair, it's hard to bet against a team with four future Hall of Famers (assuming Kobe's knee doesn't just give out in the next year or so, or he gets sent away for something... ). I still don't really like Malone, and after an initial warming to Payton, he really burned his bridges and returned to being the utter dick he has been his whole career. Not all that sad to see either of those guys go out without a ring (well, Payton for sure isn't done yet, but you know what I mean). Detroit was certainly the better team. Gotta give them their due. I never would have thought Chauncey Billups would be a key to an NBA Finals, nor did I think Rasdheed Wallace could actually work within a team concept. But they did, and a team of terrifically talented athletes may be embarking on a new era in basketball. Back to the Lakers for a sec. I hope they break it up. I'm really sick of this bunch, and I am sick of Jackson, too. They had their run. It's time to try something new. CR

Lakers just didn't have an answer for the Pistons. Pistons had too many weapons, and played too well.
Dumars put together a helluva team, and Larry Brown is one of the best in the biz. If the Lakers are to challenge next year (and in reality, they prob. shouldn't have gotten by the Spurs, and the T-wolves were weak)...Payton and Malone need to shove off, and the Lakers need a top shooter. Congrats to the Pistons and Pistons fans. |

Reading reports now and by all accounts there is great revelry in Detroit. Good, sweet fun! No burning. No rioting. Maybe some celebatory gunfire, a handful of arrests for rowdiness. But none of that nonsense that happens in other cities like Denver, LA, and others.
Good to see the city of Detroit do itself proud again. There were no riots or burning when the Wings won in 97, 98, and 02 either. Apparently there was some burning. A Laker's jersey. That's nothin' F*ck you, Kimmel and all the rest of 'em! Live in the now, folks. |

More "riot" info.
Here's how they celebrate Championships in Denver and Los Angeles, respectively: http://www.cnn.com/US/9801/26/denver.riots/ http://www.seanbaby.com/news/riot.htm Yes, there were riots in 1984 won the Tigers won. And perhaps a little bit here and there back in 1989 and 1990 won the Pistons won back-to-back titles. But that was 15-20 years ago. Since then we've seen the Wings win three Cups and now the Pistons. |

I was thrilled to see the Pistons win. I'm a Razorback fan, and I played a game against Corliss Williamson when he was a sophomore in a high school game. I realize that he wasn't a major factor in their championship, but he was a hero in Arkansas while he was growing up, so I'm happy to see him with a ring. Derek Fisher seems to be a pretty good guy too and is also from Arkansas, but he didn't go to U of A, and he's already got plenty of rings.
I like Larry Brown, and I think he did a great job with the Pistons this year, but the only thing I didn't enjoy about the Pistons winning is that Carlisle didn't get to win it. I thought he got the shaft in Detroit. I thought it was a really classy move on Brown's part to mention Carlisle and talk about the contributions he made. Congratulations to all of the Pistons. |

There was rioting after the first two Pistons' championships, that makes only the Red Wings' so I don't know how you can include them in your arguement. Welcome to the club. How many times do I hear people talk about Philly and Sant Clause and that was like 30-40 years ago. |
