GM 3ric at the desk for Richmond Rednecks in 2018.
CB Rod Clouse retired. We hire a new scout and a new coach, Allen Behrendt and Rusty Stokes. Behrendt is 37 with VG,VG,VG,G,VG,VG,VG,G,VG in ratings. Stokes is 43 with F,G,VG,F,F,F,VG,VG,F,VG,VG,VG,G,EX in ratings. Ticket prices are set to $34,38,51,91,0,2500 and 135.000 for the luxury boxes. Still a long way from what the Skins charge. We need the dough, last year we made a loss of $48.8 mil. Ouch. Fan loyalty is up to 67/100 by the way. We had an 88% attendance last year, that is 68.300 at our games even through we stunk up the joint... Franchise values is 23 for the stadium, 0 for the roster (no kidding), 66 for support (bless 'em) and 61 for economy with a total franchise value of $693,000,000. No franchise player designation this year. The New York Jets really covet my RB, Donnell Wheeler, and offer WR Eddie Swearingen and this year's 29th overall pick in the draft. My new scout tells me Wheeler isn't as good as my former scout led me to believe, he has him rated 9/11 as opposed to 13/15 last year. I accept the trade. I have to get myself a real QB in the first half of free agency, since there seems to be no good prospects at that position in the draft. Buffalo's Farmer is good, but too old. I offer 4 years, $65.5 mil to Detroit's Sammy Hope. Hope for the best. St.Louis tops my offer to Hope in week 2. I raise my offer in turn, reaching $70 mil over 4 years, keeping careful track of the 33% limit on increments each year. In week 6, Philadelphia offers $71 million. Aargh! Yet again I crank up my offer to $72 mil. My DE Ronnie Jones signs with PIT for 2yr, $20 mil. T Juan Mason signs with DAL for 3 yrs, $21 mil. T Neal Daniels signed with GB for 3 yrs, $27.5 mil. Finally, in week 9, Hope signs for Richmond. At the same time, I resign my C Gearhart for 1yr, $6 mil. We wait two more weeks until looking at the market again. I offer 4yr, $26 mil to a very good LB, Conrad Ahn from the Redskins, and 3yr, $13 mil to Clyde Cochrane, a S from Atlanta. I would rather have a DE or a CB, but there are none available. I make the third offer to another LB, David Prescott of New England, for 3yr, $16 mil. Ahn and Cochrane signs quickly. In week 13 Carolina top my bid on Prescott. I stay put. In week 14, Prescott rejects Carolina and signs with the Rednecks. I resigned T Kenny Cedeno for 3yr, $7.7 mil. C Spencer Hurtado gets 3yrs, $3 mil and S Dave Cage 3yrs, $7.5 mil. DT Mark McClendon signs with SF for 3yrs, $8.5 mil. Now we have 31 signed players and $55 mil cap room. I have 21 unsigned restricted free agents, however. Our needs are at RB, T, DE and CB. My scout really likes this RB Al Tumulty, 5'9 and 196 lbs from Boise State. His ratings are 100, 42/100, 69, 31/82, 77, 35/92, 99, 100, 99. He's rated by the consensus of scouts as 6.3 at both current and future potential, making him only the 4th-rated RB in the draft. He fills a need and doesn't look like a bust to me like the last year's no. 1 pick did. I pick him, (god I hate picking in the first round) hoping that lightning doesn't strike twice. Subject: Post-Draft Report Rnd 1 - Al Tumulty, RB, Boise State Rnd 1 - Rodney O'Malley, TE, Florida Rnd 2 - Jamie Schulz, CB, Fresno State Rnd 3 - Earl Schulz, DE, Vanderbilt Rnd 4 - Travis Samuel, CB, Kansas State Rnd 5 - Scott McCormick, DT, Washington State Rnd 6 - Brady Thomas, RB, Eastern Kentucky Rnd 7 - Alex Zeigler, WR, Florida State I resigned LB R.J. Stevens for 3 yrs, $10 mil. CB Jason Granata for 3 yrs, $13.5 mil. FB Willie McDowell for 3yrs, $3 mil. T Quentin Tucker for 1 yr, 680K. DE Dixon Huettner for 1 yr, $6 mil. (Yes, really!) The following free agents with 3 years or less exp got 1yr contracts: CB Kennedy Lageman DT Corwin McNeil T Joel Ritchie T Corey Dotson DE Blaine Hoffman DE Chester Pierce T Terry Lowe G Jimmy Mobley FB Ethan Reynolds T Rico Savoy Then I take these 53 players into camp.
62800 season tickets sold this year. A decrease with 3100 tickets. (Beeping bandwagon fans.) T Terry Lowe had a breakout in potentials, they increased with 7 pts to 11. K Parton had a +4 increase in current estimate. LB Ahn, G Barton and FB McDowell went up 3 points each. And of course, 1st-round pick RB Tumulty was just as good as advertised. The starting lineup: QB Hope RB Tumulty(R) FB Compton TE O'Malley(R) WR Gragg, Swearingen T Savoy, Lowe(R) G Favret, Barton C Gearhart K Parton P Reid KR Zeigler PR Gragg DE Schulz(R), Huettner DT Rogers, Botello LB O'Neal, Ahn, Prescott CB Samuel(R), Lageman S Cochrane, Ligeski Preseason record is 1-3, with DT McCormick doubtful (shoulder tendonitis) and two other DTs are listed as questionable and probable. WR Page is doubtful with pulled groin and TE Wiegert has a dislocated shoulder. Other than that, pretty good. Cohesion is 50,54,53,50 - apparently the guys still don't know each others names yet. Week 1 at Washington (W25-24, 1-0) Finally revenge on the hated Redskins! Tumulty debuts with 20-147 yds, 1 TD. S Cochrane 2 ints. Week 2 vs Cleveland (W21-14, 2-0) Week 3 at Dallas (L6-31, 2-1) FB Compton and RB Thomas doubtful. I release T Dotson and sign RB Roger Clapp. Week 4 vs New York G (L3-38, 2-2) DT Botello out for 2-3 months. Week 5 vs Philadelphia (L3-12, 2-3) Week 6 vs Minnesota (W21-19, 3-3) Week 7 vs Washington (W27-25, 4-3) And it's a sweep! S Cochrane 2 ints, DefPOW award. Week 8 at Philadelphia (L3-42, 4-4) RB Tumulty questionable with thigh bruise. Week 9 vs Arizona (W37-14, 5-4) RB Thomas 19-135 yds, 2 TDs. Week 10 at New York G (L9-41, 5-5) QB Hope suffers hip pointer, is doubtful, LB Ahn questionable with deep thigh bruise. Week 11 Bye Week 12 at Arizona (L3-14, 5-6) CB Lageman breaks arm, is out. Week 13 at Jacksonville (L14-20, 5-7) Week 14 at Green Bay (L11-34, 5-8) T Savoy pulls groin, misses 3-5 weeks. Week 15 vs Baltimore (W27-20, 6-8) RB Tumulty 27-177 yds, 3 TDs. Week 16 vs Dallas (L24-27, 6-9) QB Hope re-injures his hip. Week 17 at San Francisco (L7-9, 6-10)

WR Rusty Floyd retired. I raise ticket prices to $44,48,61,91,0,3000 and 155.000 for the luxury boxes. Fan loyalty dropped with 6 to 62. Last year we had an 86.7% attendance, which translates into 67.300 seats. Costs increased with 41%, but revenues went up just 5%, causing a loss of $129 mil. Double OUCH! Franchise value is 27 for the stadium, 62 for the roster, 62 for support, and 62 for economy ??? Total value of $843 mil. No player good enough to use the franchise player designation on. $72 mil under the cap. P Reid, WR Gragg, S Ligeski, LB Hardee, C Gearhart, TE Wiegert, LB O'Neal, FB Compton and G Favret are all unrestricted free agents. RB Prill, CB McClelland, LB Vanderclute, WR Kippen, DE Huettner, CB Lageman, RB Clapp, T Ritchie, T Savoy, WR Page, FB Reynolds, DT McNeil, T Lowe, G Mobley, DE Hoffman and DE Pierce are all restricted free agents. I bid on C Bernard Simmons from New England with a 4yr, $25.5 mil contract. FB Compton signed with Tennessee for 4 yrs, $21 mil. C Simmons signs in week 5, anchoring my OL for years to come. LB O'Neal signs with Oakland for 2 yrs, $14 mil. G Favret signs with NYGiants for 2 yrs, $12 mil. I offer WR Morris Murphy a 3 yr, $21 mil contract in week 11. CB Deron Riordan gets an offer for 2 yrs, $24.5 mil. G José Forbes requests 4yrs, $24 mil. He's unproven but with great potential. All signs immediately. T Lowe resigns for 3 yrs, $9.3 mil. T Savoy resigns for 3 yrs, $5 mil.
DT McNeil resigned for 3 yrs, $9.7 mil. DE Huettner resigned for 3 yrs, $20 mil. S Ligeski resigned for 3 yrs, $16 mil. DE George Yang signed for 1 year, 610K. LB Richie Randle signed for 1 year, 610K. CB Reggie Oliver signed for 1 year, 610K. CB Chuck Richmond signed for 1 year, 610K. S C.J. Batchelor signed for 1 year, $1.23 mil. T Byron Dunn signed for 1 year, $1.17 mil. WR C. Theophilakos signed for 1 year, 610K. TE Jared Wolfsmith signed for 1 year, 610K. RB Nate Cloud signed for 1 year, 610K. WR Richard Pender signed for 1 year, 610K. Before camp:

Changes in current estimates: G Forbes, T Lowe, P Irwin +4 increase RB Tumulty +3 Changes in future estimates: DE Crowley +7 DE Yang +5 FB Prior +4 CB Richmond -5 WR Pender -4 Starting lineup: QB Hope RB Tumulty FB Prior(R) TE O'Malley WR Murphy, Swearingen T Lowe, Savoy G Barton, Forbes C Simmons K Parton P Irwin KR/PR Richmond DE Huettner, Schulz DT Rogers, Botello LB Ahn, Prescott, Place(R) CB Schulz, Riordan S Cochrane, Ligeski 57100 season tickets sold. After a 5-0 start of the season, QB Sammy Hope went down with a hyperextended knee. In with Dwight "Ryan Leaf" Clinton who got to be the most expensive 2nd-string QB in the league. We don't trust him a bit and expect RB Tumulty to carry the team. However, he couldn't do it all by himself, and the offense went into the tank vs Portland(1-4), managing only 193 yards in a 14-26 loss. Hope will start again as soon as he can. We win again next week with Hope going 21/29 for 283 yds and 2 TDs. In weeks 11 and 12 Tumulty went on a tear, recording consecutive 200-yd rushing games. For good measure he added his third 200-yard game for the season in week 17, finishing with a league-leading 2069 yards, a new league record. In addition, he set a new mark in most carries in a season with 442, an average of 27.6 carries/game. He set another record, for most carries in a game, with a whopping 44 carries vs Green Bay. His season high of 254 yards vs San Diego was the 8th highest total ever.
Wild card Round vs St. Louis Rams The Redneck's first ever playoff game! The Rams managed only 17 yards on the opening drive, punting from their 48 for a touchback. Richmond marched quickly 80 yards downfield and put seven points on the scoreboard through a Tumulty 17-yd touchdown run with 06:28 remaining in the first quarter. At halftime the score was 21-0 with 174 rushing yards for the Rednecks, compared to only 97 yards passing. Ball control offense baby! The defense was doing their share as well, holding the Rams to 53 yards rushing and 78 passing through the first half. A fumble on St. Louis 2-yd line by FB Prior allowed the Rams to go the distance and make it 21-7 with 03:47 left in the third quarter. But QB Hope caught the Rams off guard on the very next drive with a play-action fake to hit wide open WR Swearingen for a 71-yd touchdown pass. Tumulty ran in for his fourth TD of the game right before the 2-minute warning to set the final score to 35-7. Game honors: QB Hope 12-17-205 yds, 1 TD RB Tumulty 39-211 yds, 4 TDs WR Swearingen 4-112, 1 TD LB Ahn 4 tck, 3 sacks Divisional playoffs at Minnesota The Rednecks returns the opening kickoff but get a face-mask penalty on the second play and punts on 4th down. Minnesota moves the ball 49 yards and hits a 39-yd FG to open the scoring. Tumulty gets injured and Richmond has to punt again without yet having a first down. With 02:59 left in the first half the Vikings gets their second FG thanks to strong passing from their QB Vincent Snyder. The Rednecks has only 42 yards of offense as Minnesota's strong defensive line stays in control. In the third quarter Minnesota scores a third FG to go nine points ahead, until Richmond's Parton makes a FG in the beginning of the fourth quarter. Only a six-point lead, but without Tumulty, the Rednecks doesn't seem to have enough firepower. They need a big play from the defense to escape from this deficit. But Snyder continues to hit clutch passes on third down and throws a touchdown pass with 07:39 left. The final score is 20-3 and Richmond's season is over. Game honors: LB Place 12 tck, 2 ass, 1 sack. Indianapolis beats Philadelphia 34-7 in the Super Bowl. The Rednecks' first winning season, and one that creates great optimism for the future. [This message has been edited by 3ric (edited 01-26-2001).]

No retirements. Last season we had an 69.700 attendance, or 89.8%. Fan loyalty is up to 70. I raise ticket prices to $54,58,71,91,0,4000,155000 and 155000 for the 20 VR boxes. Revenues increased with 6% and cost decreased 8%, but we still lost $90 mil. Franchise values: Stadium 25, Roster 100, Support 69, Economy 54. No franchise player designation. Franchise value is $986 mil. We are $26 mil under the cap. I cut T Kenny Cedeno, saving $3.1 mil in cap salary. I also cut DT Corwin McNeil, saving $2.7 mil. LB R.J. Stevens also gets the axe to save $3.6 mil. I re-negotiate with S Clyde Cochrane who was in his last year of the contract, giving him 3 more years for $18.4 mil. I also consider cutting CB Jason Granata but decide to wait until I see what the market for cornerbacks is. All these cuts where of backups that earned starter's money. Now we are $36.2 mil under the cap. We target linemen in free agency, and one of the best available is DE Jon Aquadro of Minnesota. T Artie Van Pelt from Buffalo is also a possibility. Both are 7-year veterans drafted in the first round. We decide on Aquadro, who gets an offer of 3 yr, $26 mil since there are two other tackles available that might last until week 10. But Aquadro signs immediately with St. Louis for $33 mil. Van Pelt is pending a $29 mil offer from Pittsburgh. I raise the bidding level with a 4-yr, $34.4 mil contract. It does me no good - he signs with the Steelers in week 3. I change focus and go after a true shutdown corner in New Orleans' Carlton Guthrie. And in week 9, he signs with Atlanta. I finally get a T in Skip Chuang as he signs for 2 yrs, $13 mil. One drawback though - he's played for 16 years. There are some linebackers available in week 11, I decide to wait until giving them offers to get the price tag down. In week 20, I give an offer to LB Mitchell Roden. He has potential but not much else, but I'm curious to see if he pans out. I also re-sign restricted free agent WR Chester Theophilakos, since he was the youngest unsigned player on the roster who my scout estimated as Very Good in the future. K Raymond Parton is also re-signed. I cut CB Granata and re-sign CB Travis Samuel instead. Subject: Post-Draft Report Rnd 1 - Randal Back, DE, Louisville Rnd 2 - Scott Whitfield, G, Georgia Tech Rnd 3 - Sam Lindsay, RB, Stanford Rnd 4 - Grant Porter, C, Georgia Rnd 5 - Winston Bird, WR, Duke Rnd 6 - Gilbert Jacobs, C, Clemson Rnd 7 - Clay Rivera, RB, Western Michigan I wasted a pick on the wrong center in round 4, but realized my mistake and got the right guy in round 6. After camp:
FA LB Emmanuel Finkes busted. +3 increase in current estimate: LB Roden, DT Simmons, DE Crowley, DE Schulz, G Brandon, WR Theophilakos, FB Prior and QB Dwight Clinton, who actually is starting to resemble a quarterback again. But he still is overpaid. Future estimates increased by +3 in: CB Howard, CB Schulz, C Jacobs and TE Brooks(+4) We sold 60.900 season tickets. Starting lineup: QB Hope RB Tumulty FB Prior TE O'Malley WR Murphy, Schroeder T Chuang, Lowe G Forbes, Brandon C Simmons K Parton P Irwin KR Zeigler PR Lindsay DE Huettner, Schulz DT Rogers, Botello LB Prescott, Ahn, Place CB Riordan, Schulz S Cochrane, Cage For the first time ever, the Rednecks has no rookie starters at the beginning of the season. LB Prescott out with torn calf muscle. DE Schulz bruised ribcage. LB Place re-injured his broken jaw and is listed as doubtful, leaving the Rednecks with only four LBs. DT Erickson is released and second-year LB Terrance Tyler is signed. Week 12 vs Arizona (W45-16, 8-3) QB Hope 20-27-264 yds, 3 TDs. RB Tumulty out with torn calf muscle. WR Theophilakos doubtful. S Batchelor is released and RB Sammy Abrams is signed. Week 13 vs New York Jets (W33-3, 9-3) QB Hope 17-23-236 yds, 1 TD. LB Ahn 9 tck, 4 ass, 1 sack. RB Rivera 20-97 yds, 1 TD. Week 14 at Philadelphia (L24-27, 9-4) DT Botello 3 sacks. RB Lindsay doubtful with hip pointer. Week 15 vs Tampa Bay (W16-13, 10-4) RB Rivera 16-100 yds. LB Tyler is released and some scrub RB is signed instead. Week 16 at Arizona (L20-26, 10-5) Week 17 at Washington (W28-23, 11-5) RB Rivera 24-123 yds, 1 TD. LB Williamson out with broken jaw. Released G Wilkins and signed LB Mickey Flotlin.
Wild card round vs St. Louis (L14-24, 11-6) QB Hope 20-30-242 yds, 1 TD. With Al Tumulty out for the season, the Rams didn't have much to fear from the Rednecks. QB Sammy Hope would have to have a career game to pull this out but the team was worn down by a long season. They made it interesting by keeping the game close in the first half and the score was 7-7 at halftime. But St. Louis scored quickly on a couple of big plays to pull away from Richmond in the second half. Rams' QB Jimmie Finley hit WR Jermaine Jackson with a 55-yd TD pass one minute into the third quarter. With 07:39 left in the fourth quarter Finley passed to Kelvin Ramsey for a 4-yard touchdown. The Rednecks managed only two FGs by Raymond Parton in response. Seattle beats Green Bay 23-3 in the Super Bowl. I re-negotiate with T Rico Savoy, signing him for two more years. He was on pace for finishing the year with 2116 yards when he got injured and missed the rest of the season. In fact, he finished 3rd in the league in rushing while playing in just 11 games. In the week 6 game vs St. Louis Rams, Tumulty came within 9 yards of beating the single-game rushing record of 291 yards held by the legendary Emmitt West of the Dallas Cowboys. QB Sammy Hope enjoyed a career year and the Rednecks passed for 500 yards more than last year, and the offensive run/pass ratio of 70/30 stayed about the same. However, the defense really let us down this year. It will be the main focus of the offseason. [This message has been edited by 3ric (edited 01-25-2001).]

GM 3ric at the desk of the Richmond Rednecks in the year 2021.
No retirements this year either. Both my coach and scout's contracts are up. I offer them both 3-year extensions with a slight raise to the scout. Coach Stokes resigns immediately, but Cleveland tops my offer for my scout. I raise my bid to $1.32 mil for 4 years. It will kill my finances, but I truly believe he's the best in the league. I choose to stay put with my current ticket prices for this year. Fan loyalty is 71. Attendance went down with 3100 last year to 66.600, or 85,8% Revenues increased with 15% and cost increased with 1%, making my loss only $66 mil - a significant improvement. Franchise value is Fair(27) for the stadium, VG(73) for the roster, VG(71) for support, and Good(56) for economy. Total value is $960 mil. I franchise a player for the first time - TE Rodney O'Malley. As a two-time All-Pro he's easily among the top 5 TE's in the league. Besides, he has only Average(47) loyalty. Now I am in some cap trouble - I have 34 players signed and only $3.3 mil under the cap. Time to cut some more overpaid veterans. But I realize QB Sammy Hope's cap figure of $22.3 mil can be lowered this year since he's in his final year of the contract. I give him a three-year extension worth $50 mil which gives him a cap figure of $16.9 mil instead. DT Pat Rogers is also due for an extension which will reduce his cap figure with almost $5 mil. I am tempted to cut former bust QB Dwight Clinton, but he has two years left on the contract, and the hit on the cap will be about $5.3 mil this year and next. It would get me an extra $5 mil in cap room, however. LB Conrad Ahn also signed a renegotiated contract of three years worth $22.5 mil. I put the axe on WR Morris Murphy, freeing $7.3 mil to give me $23.1 mil cap salary available. Will it be enough? I'm going to need an estimated $8.4 mil to sign my draftees. Incredibly, I'm dead last in the league regarding cap room - San Diego can buy players for a staggering $97 mil. I cut T Rico Savoy, giving me $2 mil more. I might cut DE Dixon Huettner later, he's making $8 mil but looks like he's slipping this year. S Corey Ligeski is also on the bubble.

I'm having a severe difficulty to compete in the free agent bidding war. After losing out on four top prospects despite being the highest bidder, I started searching desperately after anyone on the defensive side worth signing. After bidding on four(!) players simultaneously, S Rich Arquette finally agreed to my terms. I quickly withdrew my other bids and breathed a sign of relief I could avoid the same situation as last year - being unable to sign anyone in the first 10 weeks.
Arquette is no star, although solid, but he does have a high Interception attribute and will form a nice tandem with Clyde Cochrane. In week 11, I offer a 3-yr contract to another S, Jim Banks. He's a 2nd-year player with low current values but with high potential, you could call him a "project". Another 2nd-year project with high potential is CB Jimmy Favor. I offer him a 3-yr, $13 mil contract. I look for potential rather than current value because there aren't any starters left in free agency. The third such player is DT Stan Tyler who is offered two years for $5 mil. All sign within two weeks. Meanwhile, San Diego sign away LB David Prescott for $13 mil. I cut S Corey Ligeski to raise my cap room to $20 mil. S Michael Lindsay gets a 3-year deal. Now my revamped secondary needs only one more CB. Still, I have only three linebackers under contract. Offensive tackle is another priority - I've got only two on the roster. On to the draft. I pick as no. 30, and the linebacker crop looks pretty deep to me. It's not a good year for tackles though. Subject: Post-Draft Report Rnd 1 - Neal Porter, LB, Tennessee Rnd 2 - Jeremy Nagel, DT, Toledo Rnd 3 - Clarence Griffith, WR, Mississippi State Rnd 4 - Bennie Mahoney, LB, Vanderbilt Rnd 5 - Bruce Markley, FB, Kentucky Rnd 6 - Zach Barber, WR, Oklahoma Rnd 7 - Nicky Buchman, LB, Baylor A nice draft. I'm satisfied with what I got considering the low position, all the picks filled needs and with good value for each round. Now I have 44 signed players and $5 mil left under the cap. I need a QB, TE, T and a CB. Could be difficult. I sign 6 players before the money run out. I release DE Huettner which frees $8 mil towards the cap - we will need it. Before camp:

We really should see some cohesion kick in this year - the entire offensive line of last year is intact, and on offense is only Theophilakos the new starter. DE Back, LB Roden and S Arquette is the new starters on defense. But apparently the "expansion effect" on cohesion is still handicapping us, cohesion is 52-59-52-50.
Arquette is an upgrade at safety, Back is about the same, although with a brighter future, as the guy he replaced. Roden is perhaps a downgrade at linebacker, but on the other hand is depth at that position much better. In exhibition week two LB Buchman breaks several ribs and is out 2-3 months. I release CB Cornelius Bensen and sign LB Kennedy McDonald. We finish pre-season 1-3 with starting WR Schroeder listed as questionable, among the reserves are Buchman and Lindsay out and Samuel doubtful. We survived a rash of injuries early in the regular season and came out of a week 10 bye with only light injuries to three defensive players and a 7-2 record. A three-game losing streak left us tied with three teams for the division lead at 9-6 before the final game. Another loss vs the 5-10 New York Giants left the Rednecks at 9-7 and out of the playoffs.

GM 3ric at the desk of the Richmond Rednecks in the year 2022.
No retirements. Ticket prices upped to $64,68,81,101,0,5000,165000,165000. Fan loyalty is 74. Last season's attendance was 69.700, or 89.8%. Revenues went down 7% and costs went up with 10%, resulting in a loss of $110 million. Franchise values is 25 for the stadium, 100 for the roster, 73 for support and 56 for economy, and total value is $1078 mil. A shock - I'm $4.7 mil OVER the cap - the first time ever I've seen that. Welcome to the cruel world of NFL capologists. But now, at last, I get the satisfaction of cutting QB Dwight Clinton and his obscene contract off my roster to gain $11.9 mil in cap room. After some more cuts and some re-negotiation of contracts about to expire I find myself in a somewhat better position - with $20.3 mil to spare against the cap. I sign K Shawn Quick to replace Raymond Parton. He's mine for 2 yrs, $3.71 mil. After week 10 I sign WR Kelvin Ramsey for 3 yrs, $25.5 mil and release WR Jermaine Schroeder. A week later WR Henry Dove surprise me and take my offer (same as Ramsey's) who was lower than that Colorado Springs was offering. And after TE Xavier Bastianelli agrees to my terms in week 14, our receiver corps looks outstanding although there are only $10 mil left in cap room. The future as a Redneck look bleak for WR Theophilakos. He commands $8.6 mil against the cap but is at present no better than our third-string WR. He might have to be sacrificed in order to meet the required roster turnout of 53 players. Subject: Post-Draft Report Rnd 1 - Chester Spielman, T, West Virginia Rnd 2 - Gilbert Kramer, DT, Missouri Rnd 3 - Wesley Bruce, TE, Ohio Rnd 4 - Chester Ricci, RB, Ohio State Rnd 5 - Al Gibson, QB, Cal. - Poly SLO Rnd 6 - Ed Jones, CB, Louisiana-Lafayette Rnd 7 - Russell Badgro, CB, Iowa After the draft we have 47 players and only $1.8 mil left. We lack a third QB and depth at some positions. I cut DT Tyler who was made expendable with the drafting of Kramer. I also release S Banks and sign S Ross Curtis for the minimum. RB Rivera is sent off - I have a replacement in rookie Ricci, and Lindsay, the second-string, is better. I re-sign G Todd Price and gives FA T Camarillo a 1-year contract. Then I sign the following rookie free agents to 1-year minimum contracts: LB Dominic Covington, CB Seth Cassidy, QB Xavier Ellard, DE Terry Linquist, DT Keith Long, QB Jerome Vance. Before camp:

The most pleasant surprise in camp was undrafted rookie free agent DT Keith Long, his current estimates was boosted by +2, but his future estimate went up +9 !!! We have to win with a strong defense and our running game for now on. Predictably, the season all went down the drain after that. We finished 3-7, losing out on the final playoff spot to Atlanta(9-7).

No retirements. Ticket prices stays the same. We'll have to return to the playoffs before we can start thinking about raising the prices. Fan loyalty went up to 77. Attendance was 69.500, or 89.5%. A slight decline. Revenues went up with 3% and cost went down with 5% - that's the way to do it - and our loss was $88 mil. How long can we continue to keep up with this? I'm in good company though - Greensboro lost $190 mil last year. Franchise values is 22 for the stadium, 93 for the roster, 76 for support and 58 for economy. Total value is $1069 mil. I'm $5.1 mil under the cap - a lot better situation than last year - but QB Sammy Hope - the starter for the first six years of this franchise - is screwed now. His season-ending injury put the end to the player he once was. $19.5 mil against the cap for someone now best suited as backup. The good news is that he can be cut at any time since he's in his final year of the contract. I franchise C Bernard Simmons - in his 11th year and better than ever with ratings 96/97/56. The only other UFA is WR Theophilakos who won't be resigned. Our cohesion is finally starting to come together - we´re Very Good in all areas except offensive line. But Passing cohesion is bound to take a hit with Hope's imminent departure. I cut Hope. RB Al Tumulty gets three more years for $44 mil. DT Rogers also gets cut - I've got to go with all the young guys now at DT. After some more contract extensions we've got $29 mil in cap room. I get an intriguing trade proposal. Carolina Panthers wants my 4th-year DE Randal Back, a starter last year who's in his final year and wants to double his salary. In return they offer QB Bernie Rudy, a 12-year vet plus a sixth-round pick. There are no starting-caliber quarterbacks available in free agency and perhaps only two worthy prospects in the draft. However, at least five defensive ends better than my man Back is available in the FA process. Three of them is a LOT better. As I don't seem to have any choice, I accept the trade. But Rudy counts for $14.7 mil against the cap which leaves us with $17 mil left, and $10 is reserved for our draft picks. I decide against making offers to any of the top players on the FA market in the first 10 weeks. In week 13 I sign talented LB Donnie Figures - I kept any eye on him in last year's draft. No more players are signed and the draft begins - I pick as no 17. Subject: Post-Draft Report Rnd 1 - Rufus McMurdo, G, Arizona Rnd 2 - Donnie Blackburn, LB, Texas Rnd 3 - Bryant Woodson, QB, UCLA Rnd 4 - Kerry Cleary, C, Clemson Rnd 5 - Rodney Stevens, FB, Panhandle State Rnd 6 - Burt Abrams, WR, Illinois Rnd 6 - Reggie Lee, S, Alabama Rnd 7 - Jorge Sims, WR, Washington State Before camp:
After camp:
Last year's explosion in ratings during camp by DT Long must have been contagious - all four DT's improve with a startling pace - I'll have to use a heavy rotation in my 4-3 defense to keep everybody somewhat happy. Increases in current estimates (+3 if not otherwise specified): RB Chester Ricci, T Chris Floyd, DT Jeremy Nagel, DT Keith Long(+4), DT Gilbert Kramer(+4), T Chester Spielman(+4) Increases in future estimates (+3 if not otherwise specified): LB Perry Boothe(+4), DT Adam Linquist(+5), DE Kerry Blair(+5) Unfortunately first round pick Rufus McMurdo's ratings took a dive by -3/-4 which makes depth at guard much thinner. We sold 65.800 season tickets. Whew, we made it through preseason with just three players listed as probable, the best health the team has been in at this point since we started the WLC.
We narrowly lost the first game due to two crucial fumbles by my designated kickoff/punt returner Sims. I bench him and also make a change on the defensive line by putting my third-string DT Long at DE instead of Blair in an attempt of getting the best players on the field. The result is two blowout wins, and I'm feeling good about this year's team. QB Rudy plays efficient, error-free football as we ground it out and control the ball. But in week 11 and 12 we get bit by the injury bug again and drop a couple of games. As I only have two healthy defensive ends I have to release CB Givens and sign DE Paddock. In the next game DE Blair breaks the fibula (whatever that is) and is put on IR. I release CB Belanger and sign DE Pound. Along the way towards yet another 8-8 record, starting LBs Ahn and Place both suffers season-ending injuries.
The 408 points scored this season is a new franchise record, and 2nd best in the league, just one point behind Tampa Bay. 297 points allowed is good enough for 14th place. We just couldn't win the close games, as all losses except one was by 7 points or less, and with four games lost by only three points or less. Cleveland beats Chicago 38-10 in the Super Bowl. GM 3ric at the desk of the Richmond Rednecks in 2024.
No retirements. I decide a coaching change is necessary and hire Wally Cady, who's 55 years old without prior experience as an NFL head coach. His ratings are VG,P,G,F,F,VG,VG,P,VG,F,VG,G,EX,VG and is signed for three years and $5.8 mil. Coach Stokes sign with division rival Dallas. Ticket prices stay the same. Last season's attendance was 70.100, or 90.3%, a new record. We lose $126 mil as costs increase with 13%. Franchise values: Stadium Fair(20), Roster Excellent(89), Support Very Good(75), Economy Good(58). Total value is $1056 mil. No franchise player designation this year. I'd like to franchise C Simmons, but I did that last year and WLC house rules prohibit me. Unrestricted free agents: C Bernard Simmons DE Levon Crowley CB Jimmy LeFavor Restricted free agents: WR Zach Barber T Chris Floyd DE Kerry Blair DE Jessie Daniels DT Adam Linquist LB Archie Sabin LB Perry Boothe S Peter Finch New England offer me a RB and the 1st pick overall for LB Dusty Place. I'll at least think about it for a while. Place is good but has been injury prone and I believe that Neal Porter, who is two years younger, is every bit as good. Ahn, the third starter, is starting to show signs of slowing down in his 12th season. Blackburn is only in his second year and could be a star. But the no. 1 pick in the draft would ensure me of getting either of the top quarterback prospects, Billy Gifford or Jerome Lander. Watching Lander convinces me that he's the man to guide the Rednecks to the Super Bowl - after all, QB Rudy is 34 years old and Tumulty has a lot of mileage over six years. I accept the trade. I re-negotiate with safeties Cochrane and Arquette as well as P Irwin. During first 10 weeks of the FA process I resign UFA C Simmons for two years, then I hold out until week 11 where I see that there are several fine LBs available. I cut 11-year vet Ahn and sign LB Jumbo Hawkins, six years younger, for less. In week 20 I cut S Lindsay and sign LB Van Holmes. Subject: Post-Draft Report Rnd 1 - Jerome Lander, QB, Texas Rnd 1 - Kirk Bruce, DE, Southern California Rnd 2 - Marty Jameson, G, Michigan Rnd 3 - Walter Gall, T, Eastern Michigan Rnd 4 - Thurman Bradford, FB, Fresno State Rnd 5 - Clifton Corbett, CB, New Mexico Rnd 6 - Marvin Grier, DE, Louisville Rnd 7 - Sean Page, RB, Mississippi State I release FB Prior, K Quick, DT Nagel for cap reasons. I sign 16 undrafted rookie free agents. Before camp:
After camp:
Increases in current estimates (+3 if not otherwise noted): LB Holmes, LB Blackburn(+4), C Cleary(+4) Increases in future estimates (+3 if not otherwise noted): CB Capstick, DE Wingate, K Duffy, T Briggs(+7) 3rd round pick T Gall busted slightly, with a decrease in ratings with -3/-4. Starting lineup: QB Rudy RB Tumulty FB Stevens TE Bruce WR Ramsey WR Dove T Lowe G Jameson C Simmons G Forbes T Spielman K Duffy P Irwin KR Sims DE Bruce DT Kramer DT Long DE Wingate LB Porter LB Hawkins LB Blackburn CB Schulz CB Riordan FS Cochrane SS Arquette Cohesion is VG(67), VG(68), G(51), EX(84). We finish preseason 1-3 with just Forbes and Hawkins probable.
The injury list at the start of the post-season is just three names long: DE Bruce, LB Hawkins and DT Long. All three are starters, Long is listed as questionable, and the other two is out, probably for the season. Wild card game vs Atlanta (W14-7, 13-4) RB Tumulty 30-105 yds, 1 TD, OffPOW award. DE Grier 4 tck, 2.5 sacks. The Rednecks got their second playoff win ever by scoring touchdowns on their first two drives of the game. 132 yards of the total offense of 313 yards came on those drives which ended on a 22-yd strike from Rudy to Ramsey and on a Tumulty 7-yd run. Apart from Atlanta's 96-yd touchdown pass, the Falcons never had a drive longer than 36 yards. Divisional playoffs at Philadelphia (L14-31, 13-5) WR Dove 7-87 yds, 2 TDs, LB Porter 7 tck, 5 ass, 1 sack. The Eagles at Veterans Stadium (yes, they still have bad turf) is always a tough game every time of the year. This time wasn't different with Philadelphia running for 211 yards and passing for 206, while holding Richmond to 67 yards on the ground, 132 through the air. New Orleans beat Kansas City 27-21 in the Super Bowl. GM 3ric at the desk of the Richmond Rednecks in season 2025.
No retirements. I resign scout Allen Behrendt. I raise ticket prices to $74,78,91,121,0,5400(Redskins limit this),175000,175000. Loyalty is 80. Attendance last season was 70.100, or 90.3%. We lost $135 mil. Franchise values are 25,64,79,60. Total value is $1041 mil. We are $26 mil under the cap with 30 players under contract. I franchise DT Gilbert Kramer. After re-negotiations with players in their final year, we are $35 mil under the cap. We signed CB Vinny Franklin from Pittsburgh for $29 mil, this led to the release of 12-year vet CB Deron Riordan, who cost $8.6 mil against the cap. In week 20 we sign DE Jeffrey Fouts for 1 year, $6 mil.
I release LB Donnie Figures for cap reasons. Pre-camp roster:
Post-camp roster:
Starting lineup: QB Lander RB Tumulty FB Bradford TE W.Bruce WR Dove WR D.Duffy LT Lowe LG Jameson C Simmons RG Forbes RT Spielman P Irwin K K.Duffy DE Fouts DT Kramer DT Long DE K.Bruce LB Porter LB Hawkins LB Blackburn CB Franklin CB Schulz S Cochrane S Arquette We sold 69.500 season tickets. This time the only injury at the end of preseason is a sprained knee at WR Hooker who is listed as probable. This coach seems to know what he's doing! Cohesion is VG(66), VG(69), VG(61), VG(78).
Our first division title and a first-round bye in the playoffs!!! With Philadelphia and Cleveland we have the best regular-season record with 12-4, earning home-field advantage through the playoffs. Divisional playoffs vs Chicago We have S Arquette and RB Tumulty listed as probable, and LB Porter inactive as questionable. This is remarkably healthy going into the post-season, and I hope it will be decisive. Chicago takes the opening kickoff and moves 44 yards to take the lead 3-0 with 07:11 left in the first quarter. On Richmond's first drive to follow that, Tumulty rips off a 27-yard run and a Lander scramble for 11 yards on a 3rd and 6 situation leads eventually to Lander finding FB Bradford for 9-yd TD pass to take the lead 7-3. 87 yards in 7 minutes and 19 seconds. With a Duffy FG and Bradford's second TD of the day, a 17-yd run with 46 seconds left in the first half, the score was 17-3 to Richmond after the two quarters. The Rednecks opened the second half with another TD pass from Lander, this time to TE Bruce, to pull away 24-3. But Chicago came back into the game with an 80-yard score from Harvey to Wells right after, making it 24-10 with 8:34 left in the third quarter. But Richmond never panicked, and calmly added another TD, Bradford's third, at the end of quarter. Chicago QB Harvey completed a 44-yd pass to put the Bears in position of running in from two yards, reducing the Redneck's lead to 31-17 in the beginning of the fourth quarter. QB Harvey started to pass furiously to try to mount a comeback, but it resulted only in interceptions by Arquette and Sutter, and in two more touchdowns, both by RB Page, and a final Duffy FG. Final score 48-17 and a place in the conference championship vs Philadelphia. Game MVP: QB Jerome Lander, 19-25-220 yds, 2 TDs RB Page 21-85 yds, 2 TDs FB Bradford 19-85 yds, 2 TDs, receiving 3-22 yds, 1 TD. WR Duffy 7-99 yds
We held Chicago to just 11 yards rushing and controlled the ball for 41 minutes. QB Harvey's passing completion percentage was 45%. Unfortunately, RB Tumulty aggravated his elbow injury and is questionable for next game. Conference championship vs Philadelphia. Richmond shocks Philadelphia with great defensive play and young QB Lander's performance - after the first half the Rednecks are up 21-0, with 107 yards rushing and 117 yards passing, while holding the Eagles to 98 total yards, including -1 rushing yards. The rout continues in the second half, ending with Richmond winning 42-14 to advance to the franchise's first Super Bowl! Game MVP: QB Jerome Lander, 17-23-200 yds, 2 TDs RB Page 14-56 yds, 2 TDs FB Bradford 14-64 yds, receiving 5-50 yds RB Parrish 12-56 yds, 1 TD RB Tumulty 5-48 yds WR Dove 5-52 yds
Backup FB Stevens is listed as doubtful with a broken foot, RB Tumulty still is questionable, LB Porter and CB Schulz is doubtful. DE Bruce is probable and will play, as will Tumulty. The others will be inactive for the big game. Super Bowl vs Kansas City The Chiefs go 3 and out on the first drive, while the Rednecks start with FB Bradford bowling through the line for 12 yards. The drive ends after 66 yards on a Lander 6-yd TD pass to WR Hooker for a 7-0 lead. Kansas City fumbles the following kick-off return and Richmond's S Griffith recovers on the 11-yd line. Tumulty runs 10 yards to the 1, and Bradford punches it in to make the score 14-0 after 5 minutes, 26 seconds of play. The Chiefs continue to struggle on the next drive, but picks up a first down before punting. Lander resumes playing like a 12-year veteran and hits quick passes in succession before handing off to RB Page who goes 12 yards for the Rednecks's third TD of the first quarter. 21-0 and Kansas City has only gained a total of 26 yards compared to Richmond's 145. The game is essentially over, and while the Chiefs eventually score two touchdowns, the ending was never in doubt as the Rednecks had an easy cruise for the remaining three quarters. Final score: 56-14 Super Bowl MVP: QB Jerome Lander, 15-19-223 yds, 4 TDs WR Dove 8-131 yds, 2 TDs
Individual statistics: QB Jerome Lander 214-376-12-2643 yds, 11 TDs, 75.1 rtg RB Al Tumulty 217-919 yds, 5 TDs FB Thurman Bradford 136-604 yds, 7 TDs, receiving 73-497 yds, 45.8 BPct RB Sean Page 103-568 yds, 3 TDs WR Donnie Duffy 50-894 yds, 3 TDs WR Henry Dove 45-882 yds, 5 TDs K Kyle Duffy 28-36 FG, 53 lg P Tyrell Irwin 44.0 avg, 39 in20 DT Keith Long 63 tck, 18 ass, 3 sacks, 1 blk, 3 hrr DT Gilbert Kramer 37 tck, 22 ass, 5 sacks, 2 blk, 3 hrr DE Kirk Bruce 31 tck, 13 ass, 7 sacks, 5 blk, 8 hrr DE Jeffrey Fouts 21 tck, 6 ass, 2.5 sacks, 1 blk, 1 hrr (in 11 games) LB Jumbo Hawkins 123 tck(2nd), 29 ass, 5 sacks LB Donnie Blackburn 76 tck, 26 ass, 1 int, 3 dfns, 20.0 PDQ LB Neal Porter 65 tck, 20 ass, 2 sacks, 1 hrr, 6 dfns, 20.8 PDQ CB Vinny Franklin 48 tck, 18 ass, 3 ints, 6 dfns, 31.7 PDQ CB Jamie Schulz 47 tck, 19 ass, 1 int, 5 dfns, 22.9 PDQ FS Clyde Cochrane 65 tck, 21 ass, 3 sacks, 2 ints, 4 dfns, 24.6 PDQ SS Rich Arquette 61 tck, 27 ass, 1 sack, 4 ints, 9 dfns, 37.4 PDQ LT Terry Lowe 29.6 BPct, 2 SkA LG Marty Jameson 36.6 BPct, 3 SkA C Bernard Simmons 29.2 BPct, 2 SkA RG Jose Forbes 30.7 BPct, 5 SkA RT Chester Spielman 34.4 BPct, 3 SkA Team statistics: Rushing offense: 548-2421 yds(1st), 151.3 YPG, 4.4 avg(2nd). GM 3ric at the desk of the Richmond Rednecks in season 2026.
No retirements. Ticket prices: Washington: $86,85,107,162,0,5400,268000,0 Richmond: $82,81,101,141,0,5400,195000,195000 Fan loyalty is 91. Attendance last season was 74.100, or 95.4%. Revenues went up with 22% and cost went down with 11%, and we only lost $45 mil. Franchise values: Stadium F(32), Roster Ex(100), Support Ex(90), Economy Vg(61). Total value $1323 mil. I franchise LB Neal Porter. Unrestricted free agents: DE Jeffrey Fouts TE Wesley Bruce (Unhappy) Restricted free agents: QB Bryant Woodson (Demanding trade) QB Buddy Valentine RB Frederic Parrish TE Lawrence Cobb (Disgruntled) WR Renaldo Ansell WR Marc Jennings WR Danny Summers C Kerry Cleary (Demanding trade) K Kyle Duffy DE Marvin Grier DT Brock Fisher LB Wesley Vance LB Carlos Valdez S Irving Griffith S Oliver Serna We are $24 mil under the cap with 35 players under contract. Here comes the trade offers - four of them in my Message list. They are the usual carpetbagger type of trades - I reject them all. After some renegotiating I end up with $30.5 mil under the cap. But I see problems ahead - two starters at LB and four starters on the OL demands more money for their contracts entering their final years. S Clyde Cochrane makes it the seventh starter that could be difficult to have around next year. However, Cochrane is 35 years old, as is C Simmons. G Forbes and T Spielman might be slipping. LB Hawkins signs an extended contract after some further negotiating, he accepted a slightly lower salary. C Simmons won't sign for more than one year, he's possibly considering retirement. I extend LB Blackburn's contract as well, which lowers my cap room with $3 mil, but he's only 26 and on the verge of becoming a star. G Marty Jameson is another player who I cannot afford to lose, but he's just 25 and will be a restricted free agent next year - I'll wait until then. I sign RFA K Duffy for one year. I release G Edwards and T Gall to get $29.5 mil in cap room. LB Holmes could be next victim. G Whitfield might have to be cut as well even though he has two years left on his contract - he's making too much money for not starting. I sign DE Jimmie Cottle during the FA process.
Afterwards we're $9.8 mil under the cap with 43 players signed - it should be enough. Pre-camp roster:
Post-camp roster:

A winning record(3-1) in preseason for the first time. LB Blackburn and CB Schulz are the injured starters going into the regular season.
QB Lander got hurt after a 3-0 start of the season and the Rednecks dropped the next three games. When second-string QB Valentine injured his throwing shoulder then undrafted rookie free agent QB Reilly had to take the reins. Lander was rushed back into the starting lineup by week nine after a four-game losing streak and turned the offense around, making the half way record 4-4, third in the division. But he aggravated his bruised sternum yet again and returned to the inactive list. In week 10 RB Tumulty broke his hand and was rendered inactive as well. Following him later as inactive starters were TE Whiting and WR Dove. In week 12 Lander's injury status was elevated to questionable, and switched places once more with Valentine from the inactive list. WR Duffy became the fifth starter on offense to miss games due to injury. A three-game winning streak after Lander's second comeback put us at fourth place in the division with the record 7-7. Technically, we're still in the hunt for the final playoff spot, but 8-6 Atlanta is the clear favorite. We end the season with games at home vs Green Bay and away at Manchester. We lose by three points vs the 11-3 Packers and misses the playoffs one year after our maiden Super Bowl win. We lose the Manchester game as well to finish 7-9.

No retirements. We sign a new coach - 55 year old Ray Fisk with ratings F,G,VG,F,F,VG,VG,EX,G,G,F,VG,VG,VG. Ticket prices remain the same. Loyalty is 90. Attendance was up to 76.600, or 98.7%. We lost $65 mil as cost remained the same and revenues went down 8%. Franchise values are 35 for the stadium, 94 for the roster, 89 for the support and 59 for the economy. Total value is $1336 mil. Unrestricted free agents: G Forbes C Simmons T Spielman LB Holmes S Cochrane Restricted free agents: C Hickman G Jameson K Duffy TE Isacson DE Winters LB Greer LB Trammel CB Matuiata I am tempted not to use my franchise player designation this year since there are no UFA worth such a lucrative deal apart from C Simmons, who has been franchised once before. But after examining the depth on the UFA's positions, I decide to designate T Spielman in order to keep cohesion on the OL together as much as I can. We're $28 mil under the cap with 33 players under contract. I re-sign Cochrane, Simmons, Hickman, Duffy and Jameson. WR Dove is released. G Forbes signs with Tampa for $47 mil.
I release G Whitfield and C Hickman. Pre-camp roster:
Post-camp roster
What a dreadful draft - both my 1st and 2nd round pick busted. There goes my stability on the OL up in smoke. Depth at LB is also highly suspect, as is the situation at TE and WR. If an injury epidemic strikes again as last year, I'll be lucky to record seven wins. We sold 74.400 season tickets and are $5.9 mil under the cap. Starting lineup: QB Lander RB Tumulty FB Bradford TE Whiting WR Duffy WR Rose LT Lowe LG Jameson C Simmons RG McConnell RT Briggs K Duffy P Irwin DE Bruce DT Kramer DT Long DE Ciccant LB Blackburn LB Hawkins LB Porter CB Franklin CB Schulz FS Arquette SS Cochrane

We finish preseason 2-2 with only CB Franklin and DE Cottle lightly injured.
Cohesion is VG(73), VG(77), VG(66), EX(81). With RB Tumulty's skills in decline, we're entering the regular season with the most pass-oriented game plan the Rednecks ever had, which probably will mean a 50-50 run-pass ratio instead of the extreme 70-30 that we used five years ago.
We earn a first week bye and homefield advantage through the playoffs on the strength of our week 12 win over Tampa Bay, who also is 13-3. Entering the playoffs we have four players listed as probable and one, WR Duffy, who maybe is out for the season. He currently is listed as doubtful after being out with a broken wrist since week 5. Divisional playoffs vs St. Louis Rams. We start nervously with two penalties before going for three downs and a punt. But our defense seem to be sharp today as St. Louis is forced to punt on both of their first two drives without having yet gained a first down. On our third drive RB Tumulty suddenly gets going and runs like in the old days, together with Lander's passing moving the Rednecks to the Ram's 7-yard line. One play later Richmond takes the lead on Lander's pass to WR Huffman with 02:29 remaining in the first quarter. We have gained 130 yards and held St. Louis to just 11 yards rushing, with no yards in the air. In the second quarter the Rednecks add a Duffy FG before RB Tumulty follows a great block by T Lowe and takes it to the house for a 62-yard TD run. But on the next drive does the Rams put their first points on the scoreboard with an 11-yard pass from QB Oliveria to WR Sosa to make the score 17-7 with 03:23 remaining in the first half. In the second half started Richmond to run the ball to eat away on the clock with great success. K Duffy hit 4 FGs to set the final result to 29-7. Game MVP: K Kyle Duffy 5/5 FGs, 40 lg RB Tumulty 12-127 yds, 1 TD QB Lander 20-31-213 yds, 1 TD DE Bruce 2 sacks
Conference championship vs Tampa Bay Buccaneers. CB Knox fumbles the opening kickoff and Tampa recovers on our 40-yard line. But three plays later S Arquette intercepts Buccaneers QB Johnson's pass and returns the ball to the Tampa Bay 25-yard line. Moments later K Duffy misses a 36-yd FG. Instead Tampa takes the lead 3-0 later in the first quarter. Early in the third quarter the Buccaneers scores the first touchdown of the game to pull ahead 12-0. At this point they have held the Rednecks to two first downs and 44 total yards. But thanks to lost fumbles by the opposition on two successive drives we manage to turn the game around in the span of a few minutes late in the third quarter by passing for two quick touchdowns, both to TE Whiting, giving Richmond a three-point lead at the score 15-12 going into the final quarter. The home team's defense finally stiffens and holds Tampa Bay's offense scoreless until Tumulty runs for a 40-yard touchdown with 07:23 left. QB Johnson answers right back with a TD pass of his own, cutting the lead to 22-19. The Buccaneers attemps an onside kick, and is penalized four times for kicking the ball out of bounds before Richmond's Freeman can recover on the Tampa 21-yd line. Lander immediately hands off to Tumulty who goes in for the TD and the Rednecks are ahead with 10 points with 05:35 left to play. They add a Duffy FG before the Buccaneers score another touchdown with 19 seconds left. When the ensuing onside kick is recovered by Richmond again, this extremely exciting game is finally over and the Rednecks are back in the Super Bowl! Final score: 32-26. Tampa's QB Johnson passed for 406 yards and three touchdowns. The Buccaneers had five turnovers, we had four - but we scored 14 points off the turnovers while Tampa only managed three. Game MVP: S Rich Arquette 4 tck, 3 ass, 1 int, 1 fm recovered RB Tumulty 13-108 yds, 2 TDs
Super Bowl vs Baltimore Ravens. We have WR Duffy, C Simmons and G McConnell listed as questionable. Baltimore has several players out for the game, and is particularly thin at WR and DL. With 04:41 left in the first quarter, the Ravens take the early lead with a 5-yd pass from QB Kestner to WR James. The Rednecks start slow yet again, having gained only 8 yards total at this point. In the third quarter do Richmond finally put points on the scoreboard when QB Lander hits WR Huffman with 24-yd scoring strike to beat the heavy blitzing. With 04:11 remaining of the third quarter and Baltimore in the lead 10-7, Ravens no. 52 Sheffield gets ejected for punching an opponent. On the next drive we go the length of the field on three big plays: Lander 30-yd pass to WR Duffy, RB Tumulty 24-yd run, and Lander 27-yd touchdown pass to WR Duffy to take the lead 14-10 with 01:03 left in the 3rd. After forcing the Ravens to go three and out on the following drive, Richmond strikes with one more big play: Tumulty caps his outstanding post-season with bursting loose on a 67-yd run down to the Baltimore 14-yd line. The Ravens are in disarray, with players screaming at each other in panic, and subsequently draws a penalty for having too many men on the field. It's 1st and 5 on the 9-yd line with 14:08 left in the game and Lander calmly tosses the ball to WR Rose in the back of the endzone, extending the lead to 21-10. The teams trades punts once each before Raven's QB Kestner throws an interception to S Lucas, who returns it 11 yards to the Baltimore 30-yd line. From there coach Fisk calls three successive run plays - RB Murphy for 6, RB Tumulty for 14, and FB Bradford for 10 yards and the TD. QB Kestner moves his team quickly in response and reduces the gap to 28-18 with a 27-yd pass to WR Mickus, and a successful 2-point conversion. But it is too little, too late, and backup QB Valentine can run out the clock. The Lombardi Trophy has returned to Richmond! Game MVP: S Edward Lucas 7 tck, 2 ass, 1 sack, 1 int RB Tumulty 13-120 yds QB Lander 17-34-208 yds, 3 TDs, 1 int G Jameson 75.0 BPct (3 KRB on 4 RBO)

GM 3ric at the desk of the Richmond Rednecks in season 2028.
No retirements. Fan loyalty is 100. Public support for new stadium is 86. Attendance last season was 76.800, or 98.9%. We lost $34 mil last season as revenues went up 11% and costs went up 1%. Franchise values are: Stadium Fair(33), Roster Excellent(86), Support Excellent(99), Economy Very Good(60). Total value is $1358 mil. Currently, our RB Al Tumulty is third on the all-time rushing yardage list behind Emmitt West and Fred Taylor with 13.153 yards, 1109 yards behind Taylor and another 1507 behind West. Tumulty would have to average 872 yards over the next three years to become the new career leader, a distinct possibility, but perhaps unattainable considering he's 33 years old and two years removed from his last 1000-yd season. Unrestricted free agents: ------------------------- S Cochrane T Lowe P Irwin LB Porter FB Stevens FB Bradford T Briggs (Unhappy) K Duffy S Lucas (Disgruntled) Restricted free agents: ----------------------- QB Valentine WR Shields DE Ciccant CB Knox T Westbrook (Disgruntled) TE Fletcher (Disgruntled) WR Emmons (Disgruntled) WR Joyce WR Spaulding G Pollock G Corey DE Mayes DT Claytor LB Carr LB Chapman CB Freeman I franchise ... um, it has to be either Irwin, Porter or Bradford. Porter has been designated once before. Irwin has 100 in loyalty, so that leaves Bradford as the choice. I am $49 mil under the cap with 28 players under contract. I renegotiate with some and release DE Cottle, which puts the cap room to $59 mil. I sense trouble ahead with the contract situation of RB Tumulty, DT Long, DE Bruce and C Simmons. All ask for large contracts that will be difficult to fit under the cap. All except Bruce have very high loyalty so I might allow those to test free agency next year and ink only that greedy defensive end now. T Lowe signed with Tennessee for $57 mil. LB Porter signed with Manchester for $20 mil. I offer T Kenny Moriarty three years for $35 mil, and he accepts. S Cochrane signs with Greensboro, and FB Stevens with Pittsburgh. In weeks 11-20 I sign LB Swift, T Oskolkoff and G Hancock.
Post-camp roster
I try with comparing the estimates with last season's, to see if this format is equivalent to the pre-camp/post-camp format I've used to track breakouts/busts. FA aquisition LB Swift cracks the starting lineup, but is more of a sign of weak linebacking corps this year. I carry unusually many tackles as this was targeted as a crucial position, this obsessiveness might have lead to some oversights at other needs. The steal of the draft was 3rd-round pick WR Baskerville, a red-liner whose ratings exploded in camp. Last year's 2nd-round pick, T Brewer, redeemed himself after his failed rookie season and should see some playing time this season. 6th round pick Johnson probably will start at DE. Starting lineup: QB Lander RB Tumulty FB Bradford TE Whiting WR Rose WR Duffy LT Moriarty LG Jameson C Simmons RG McConnell RT Briggs K Duffy P Irwin DE Bruce DT Kramer DT Long DE Johnson LB Blackburn LB Hawkins LB Swift CB Franklin CB Schulz FS Arquette SS Hevey We sold 77.600 season tickets - the maximum amount!

A 2-2 record in preseason, a couple of injuries, mainly on defense. Starters Schulz and Swift listed as questionable and doubtful.
We battle injuries all season and put two plyers on IR but somehow manage to win the division and earn a first-round bye. This team is tough and resilient!
QB Jerome Lander leads the league in passing yardage with 4462 yards, the third-most yards ever in a season. Divisional playoffs vs Minnesota Vikings. No retirements. Unrestricted free agents: RB Al Tumulty DE Kirk Bruce FB Thurman Bradford CB Marco Sutter I can't franchise Bradford again - it comes down on loyalty - which Bruce and Sutter don't have - so it's between them. I choose Bruce because of the lack of depth at DE. Tumulty wants a 4-year, $73 million contract - it's insane money for a 34-year old RB with his best years long behind him. I want to keep him because he's idolized by the fans and will attract people to the team. But at what price? Apparently Portland is willing to pay just that kind of price. CB Sutter is offered $84 mil by Cleveland. I sign K Tatum for 2 yrs, $4.3 mil. Carolina tops Portland's offer for Tumulty - it's 5 years, $87.5 mil now... Cleveland withdraws their bid for Sutter in week 9 - Tumulty is still unsigned. Then next week Carolina goes over the cap as well and Tumulty hasn't an offer anymore. I sign TE Deion McGregor in week 14 for 2 years, $10 mil.
It's a sad day - I'm forced to move on without beloved RB Al Tumulty - he would have counted $11.9 mil against the cap - and we simply can't afford it. Bye Al - thanks for the memories. Pre-camp roster:

K Tatum retired. Former Redneck great Al Tumulty appeared in 16 games for the Saints last season and gained 853 yds on 166 rushes, and found the endzone 11 times. Currently he's trailing Emmitt West as the all-time career rushing leader with 1153 yds. We lost scout Behrendt to Minnesota, who offered him $2 mil a year, making him highest-paid in the league. In his place we sign Glenn Tyler for $730K. Coach Fisk gets an extension. Unrestricted free agents: C Simmons CB Schulz S Lucas G McConnell S Hevey No franchise designation this year since no UFA is worth those kinds of money. Except C Simmons who have been an UFA three or four times now. CB Schulz signed with Cleveland for $37 mil. S Hevey signed with Chicago for $28 mil. G McConnell signed with Cincinnati for $29 mil. I signed S Finch from Dallas and re-signed C Simmons for 2 years, $15 mil.
We finish preseason 1-3 but with no serious injuries to the starters.

No retirements. I franchise TE Deion McGregor. RB Murphy signed with Greensboro for $53 mil. WR Duffy signs with Oakland for $47 mil. S Arquette signs with St. Louis for $20 mil. I sign G Paullin for 3 yrs, $27 mil. In week 12 I sign CB Joyner for 3 yrs, $28 mil.
What the - three Notre Dame guys!!! That was totally unintentional... sorry if I upset any Golden Domers out there. Pre-camp roster:
Post-camp roster:
Preseason record was 1-3, with four backups injured.
Divisional playoff vs St. Louis Rams. Win 33-3. Game MVP QB Lander, 23-33-308 yds, 3 TDs. WR Baskerville 9-133 yds DT Kramer 4 tck, 2.5 sacks C Flannery ejected.
Conference championship vs New Orleans Saints. Win 24-14, Game MVP S Norm Finch, 5 tck, 3 ass, 1 int returned 49 yds for TD. WR Rose 9-81 yds, 2 TDs.
Super Bowl vs Seattle Seahawks. Seattle march 80 yards on their opening drive and takes the lead 7-0 and stuffs Richmond for three downs and a punt on the following drive. Rednecks QB Lander has a hard time getting anything going, but at the beginning on the 2nd quarter Seahawks QB Cote is sacked by DE Hopkins and fumbles the ball, which is recovered by S Ballard and returned 6 yds for the touchdown. The Seattle offense is clearly rattled by that and Richmond go ahead a little later with a K Raymond FG. Right before the halftime signal do the Rednecks kick another FG for the score 13-7. The Seahawks regain the lead with 08.49 left in the third quarter with a Patton TD run. Richmond QB Lander responds immediately with a long drive which ends with a 14-yd TD pass to WR Baskerville to make the score 19-14. With 12:10 left in the game does RB Berdys follow a downfield block by C Simmons and explode up the middle for 73 yards before being pulled down at the 12-yd line. The Rednecks have to settle for yet another FG to pull ahead with 8 points. Seattle QB Cote hit WR Rivera for a 4-yd TD pass with 04:13 remaining but fails on the two-point conversion, and the score is 22-20. On the next drive, K Raymond nails a 50-yd FG to extend Richmond's lead to 5 points, and only 02:09 remains. QB Cote's desperation pass on 3rd and 11 is intercepted by CB Franklin and returned 17 yards to the Richmond 48. From there on QB Lander has only to kneel to run out the clock and celebrate his third Super Bowl win! WIN 25-20, Game MVP K Alvin Raymond, 4/4 FGs, 50 Lg RB Berdys 11-102 yds

GM 3ric at the desk of the Richmond Rednecks in the season 2032.
Bernard Simmons and Al Tumulty retired. RB Tumulty was drafted first overall by Richmond in 2019 and finished second on the all-time career rushing yardage list with 15363 yards, 406 less than leader Emmitt West. However, he might lose that status as soon as sometime during the 2032 season since Brian Reeves of Green Bay is still active, and only 149 yards behind. Tumulty is also third in career rushing attempts with 3400 and third in career rushing touchdowns with 131. He still is the only player in league history to top the 2000-yard mark for rushing yards in a season, which he did with 442 carries for 2069 yards in 2020, both figures are still league records. Over his first seven years in the league he averaged 1522 yards and 334 carries per season. He also holds the league record for rushing attempts in a single regular-season game with 44 carries as well as the league record for rushing attempts in a playoff game with 39 carries, and a shared record of the most touchdows scored in a playoff game with 4. He led the league in rushing in 2020, 2022 and 2023 and played in a Redneck uniform for 11 years. His final two seasons were spent in New Orleans where he appeared in 32 games and ran for 1600 yards and 18 touchdowns. Awards: 2024: 1st Team All-Pro, OFFPOY, NFL MVP. 2023: 1st Team All-Pro, OFFPOY. 2022: 1st Team All-Pro, OFFPOY, NFL MVP. 2021: 2nd Team All-Pro. 2020: 2nd Team All-Pro, NFL MVP. 2019: 1st Team All-Pro, OFFPOY, NFL MVP. C Simmons entered the league as the 29th pick overall by New England in 2014 and played five years for the Patriots before going to Richmond as a free agent in 2019. His finest season were in 2023, where he set a league record with 52 key run blocks in a season, a number which still is unsurpassed. He played 13 years for Richmond and averaged a key run block percentage of 31.3 over his 18 years and 263 games in the league. Even more impressively, he yielded only 52 sacks during his entire career, that amounts to 2.94 sacks per season, or 1 sack allowed per 4.6 games played. Awards: 2026: 2nd Team All-Pro 2025: 1st Team All-Pro 2023: 1st Team All-Pro 2022: 2nd Team All-Pro 2020: 1st Team All-Pro 2019: 1st Team All-Pro 2018: 2nd Team All-Pro Unrestricted free agents: WR Rondell Rose TE Deion McGregor T Cedric Brewer S Craig Ballard I franchise S Ballard due to his Low(22) loyalty. I re-sign WR Rose. T Fisk is signed during the first 10 weeks, then C Chrisman and T Judd is signed in the second half of the FA process.

Post-camp roster:
Pre-season scores:
Regular season scores:
Divisional playoffs vs Philadelphia. WIN 41-16. 2nd string QB Lyons came off the bench to throw for 353 yds and 4 TDs. Lander was not seriously injured, however, and will start the conference championship game. WR Baskerville 8-139 yds, 2 TDs.
Conference championship vs Portland. WIN 39-14. QB Lander 20-24-237 yds, 2 TDs. WR Rose 6-96 yds, 1 TD.
Super Bowl vs Indianapolis. An Indianapolis fumble on the opening drive led to a short 36-yd drive by Richmond which ended with a 5-yd TD pass from Lander to WR Baskerville to go ahead 7-0. But the Rednecks fumble as well and lose the ball at their own 14-yd line which allowed the Colts to tie the game 7-7 with 3:32 left in the 1st quarter. With 02:58 left in the 4th quarter the score was 20-17, with Indianapolis having just reduced Richmond's lead. The ball was returned to the 22 and the Rednecks was going to try to run out the clock. But they were forced to punt at 02:13, and P Irwin nailed the "coffin corner", hitting the ball out of bounds at the Colt's 5. 1st down. LB Blackburn stuffs RB Pearson for -1 yard. Two-minute warning. 2nd down. RB Pearson goes 1 yard, tackled by S Finch and DE Bruce. 01:42 left and the Colts are still on their own 5 and it's 3rd and 10. QB Raag throws deep out of the shotgun with a 4WR set - and it is intercepted by CB Caballero and returned 14 yards to the 4-yd line. 01:34 left and FB Albers plunges over the line to make the score 27-17. Indianapolis QB Raag throws four incomplete passes to hand over the ball on downs on the Colt's 20 and QB Lander goes into the victory formation to finish the game and repeat as Super Bowl champions. S Norm Finch retired. Ticket prices were raised to be slightly below Washington's. No franchise player. Manchester offer their 2nd round pick for CB Joyner. Since he's injury prone and I have considerable depth at CB, I accept the trade. It clears up 11 mil in cap space as well.

Standings:
Divisional playoffs vs Portland. WIN 34-20. An exciting game that was tied 20-20 with only half a quarter remaining. We gained a total of 215 yards on the ground.
Game MVP: LB Fortmann, 14 tck, 1 ass, 1 int. RB Hopper 19-110 yds, 2 TDs. Conference championship vs New Orleans. WIN 31-16. This game quickly turned into a rout as we shut down their pass offense until garbage time.
Game MVP: RB Hopper, 14-155 yds, 1 TD. Super Bowl at Seattle Seahawks. Seattle seeks revenge for the SB loss two years ago, and are relatively injury-free, while we have to start injured players at TE and CB. The home team quickly gets into a rhythm and finish the first half in the lead with 17-3. The Rednecks close in with a touchdown halfway through the third quarter but still are behind 7 points. But Lander throws a 37-yd TD pass to Baskerville on the next drive to tie the game at 17-17. When Seattle resumes play QB Cote is sacked by Bruce and Rivera which forces a turnover. Seconds later Richmond scores again to lead for the first time in the game. The scoring frenzy escalates and with 05:59 left to play it's 38-31 to the Rednecks. But now Richmond's defense holds and that remains as the final score. In retrospect, Wendell Cooper's kickoff return touchdown was the big play that turned the game around and made the difference. WIN 38-31.

Season 2039.
WR Rondell Rose retired. He was drafted by the Rednecks as the 36th and last pick in the first round of the draft of 2026. The 6-1, 209-pound receiver out of California played for 13 years with Richmond, starting 176 games and appearing in 8 more during his rookie season. During his career he caught 810 passes for 12030 yards and 81 touchdowns, while maintaining a 14.8 average per catch. His finest season was in 2028, when he got 86 balls for 1578 yards and 11 TDs. Another great season was in 2034, when he had 93 catches for 1342 yards and 14 touchdowns. He was selected to the All-Pro 1st team in 2028, and the 2nd team in 2034 and 2037. No franchise player. LB Sanders is the only unrestricted free agent and won't be resigned as he ask for 43.5 mil. 11 restricted free agents. I release DT Foley and LB Hancock to save money against the cap. DT Gilbert Kramer was elected to the Hall of Fame. QB Jerome Lander and FB Elias Albers retired. As a 6-4, 240-pound QB out of Texas, Jerome Lander was selected first overall in the draft of 2024 by Richmond, and played for 18 years, winning seven Super Bowl rings for the Rednecks. He was the Super Bowl MVP in 2025, and was a nine-time All-Pro selection, making the first team seven times. He was a five-time NFL MVP, winning in 2032, 2034-35, 2037, 2040, and was Offensive Player of the year two times, in 2036 and 2037. He passed for more than 4000 yards in a season five times, with a season high of 4462 yards in 2028. He also passed for more than 30 TDs in a season five times, 31 TDs once, 32 TDs three times and 34 TDs once, in 2036. His best rating in a season was 103.3 in 2033, while also recording ratings of 100.3 in 2034 and 101.3 in 2038, making his career passing rating 92.6. He started 259 of 260 games, completing 4468 passes(third all-time) of 7585 attempts for 59971 yards(no 1 all-time) and 429 TDs(also the best ever) compared to only 188 interceptions. He never threw more than 16 interceptions in a season, and was also a threat running with the ball, which he did 1139 times for 5943 yards and 28 TDs. In his final game, a loss at home vs New England, he completed 19 of 42 passes for 275 yards and 1 TD. FB Elias Albers was drafted in the fourth round out of Iowa State in 2030, measuring 5-11 and 242 lbs. He played for 12 years, all with the Rednecks, and was an All-Pro six times, in 2032-34 and 2038-40, all times but one on the first team. He ran 622 times for 1802 yards and 10 TDs, and had 231 receptions for 1730 yards and 13 TDs. He had a career blocking percentage of 35.2%. TE Bo Hampton was designated as the franchise player.
