ON Topic--Will this QB Bust?

I am finally starting my serious FOF4 career. Two years into it (after an allocation draft), I have Shaun King as my starting QB. Needless to say, I am looking for an upgrade.

The only QB worth drafting high looks pretty good. However, something about him--something on which I cannot quite put my finger--makes me feel that he is going to bust. Nothing scientific in my analysis, but I am just scared to pull the trigger. Something about "Read Defense," "Scramble Frequency," and "Two Minute Offense" makes me nervous.

No matter who drafts this guy, I'll follow him and keep you posted, but I wanted to know if anyone has any insight about him right now.

I'd be curious to know how he turns out. I drafted a marginal QB about 6 seasons ago and he is the league stud now, 2 MVP awards so you never know.

If he's clearly the best QB available and you need a QB, I'd say take him. If he busts, then so be it, that's part of the fun in the game. I'm 1-1 in taking QBs in the first round, so I'm not much help. I like this guy though, accurate and won't turn the ball over. Good size too, which makes no difference.

I'de take him as long as you have a solid pass protecting offensive line. He looks like a pure pocket passer so as long as you don't give up alot of sacks he'll be ok.

I'm not really impressed by his ratings...I understand your skeptism here.
If he busts, that could be ugly.

Is he the best QB prospect available in the Draft ?

I don't know at what position you pick, but I would almost certainly not use a high 1st rounder on him.
Perhaps a late 1st round pick is OK, he already knows 10 formations which is quite nice.

If I am the GM : I don't draft this player in the first round.

I don't know, I feel pretty good about this guy. Chances are, he'll either breakout and play getter than the ratings or he will max out in the middle. Either way, that's better than Shaun King.

He's definately worth a flyer. I would add that he's not in the top half of the first round, on my board anyway. If he's still hanging around at pick #20+, I'd snatch him.

He's an upgrade from King, and if he works, he will be a B quarterback. If he doesn't, you can have fun griping about your failed first rounder.

I think he will be a substantial bust... probably a pretty marginal player, once it's all said and done.

Doesn't look like a player I would want to hold the future of the team in his hands - maybe a good interim QB until you find the Superstar you need.

I'd follow what some of the others are saying but throw a bit of a twist. I'm assuming that you have a high 1st round draft pick and are debating whether to use it on this qb. From what he looks like, he could be a solid qb but a lot of room for bust as well. If I had a really high first round draft pick, I personally wouldn't use it on him...not to say I wouldn't draft him. What I would do is find a player on my team that is expendable but has some value. Shop him to see who's interested. Find a team with a mid to low 1st round pick among those interested. Throw that player, and your first rounder for their first round pick and a future pick. So what you get is a better deal for the player then you would get otherwise (higher draft pick if you trade for draft picks...which I do) and you don't spend an exorbinant amount on a guy who really is more of a late first round or maybe even second round pick. Just my thoughts.

He won't be a superstar, I don't think, but it's worth a chance. I stay away from prospects whose ratings in every category are too similar. It may just be superstition, but I have a theory that those kind of players usually bust.

I'm sorry to leave everyone hanging. I'll be sure to post when I finally get back to the career.

BTW--I have something like the 13th pick in the draft. If he is still around at that point, I will take him. I won't, however, trade up for the guy.

EDIT: Typo

He was drafted tenth overall (not by me). We are now at the start of preseason. I have post draft and post camp pics of him. BUT, my mouse broke. I cannot play FOF4 or get online until I get a new one. I know that this sucks for all who are waiting to see, but it is out of my control. No one wants me to get a new mouse more than me, believe me.

Expect something next week.
