Movies: The Bourne Supremacy: (No spoilers please)

I am going to check this one out today.

I saw the first one and thought it was really good. Good enough to buy the DVD anyway.

If you haven't seen the first one, there is a FREE movie ticket inside the newly release of BOURNE IDENTITY extended dvd. So perhaps you can watch the first one and then you would have a FREE pass to see Supremacy.

Anyone else going to see this?

I probably will rent it when it comes out. Bourne Identity was pretty good, especially considering that the book is one of my favorites of all time, and the movie bears little in common with it.

ARGH!!! The girlfriend left today for a weeklong vacation with her family, and she'll kick my ass if I see this without her. Of course, I don't have to tell her that I've already seen it when we go to see it a couple of weeks from now...

So, yes, I'm really looking forward to this movie. I really enjoyed the first one after going in to it not expecting too much..

I saw it last night. I thought it was good, probably on par with the first movie (which I also liked).

I thought it was one of the best movies I;'ve seen this year- pure class. Exactly what it should - lots of action, thought provoking, and a bullheaded focus.

I plan on seeing it tomorrow. I can't wait, I absolutely loved the first one and have been looking forward to this one since I heard they were making the sequel to Bourne Identity.

I enjoyed the movie quite a bit. The only problem I had with it was the potentially excessive camera shaking during action sequences. I guess I would have thought that directors could find a new technique to make certain scenes exciting. That said, it didn't detract from what was a very entertaining movie. Looking forward to the next in the series.

Agree on the camera shaking. It was a bit much at times. But still a good movie and will probably be added to my dvd collection when available.

Speaking of which, has anyone read the books? I saw both the Matt Damon movie and the Richard Chamberlain "mini-series" and though MD was quite entertaining, while the RC was nice but full of logical holes.

I did read ONE of the Jason Bourne books a few years ago (Ludlum has quite a few of them, none resemble the MD movie very much if you ask me), and the books are a bit too much. I usually like Ludlum's books but the Bourne ones are not his best. I have this thing about WWII connections.

Okay. I did see this one on Saturday and just let me say this.....WHOA!

I was on the edge of my seat the whole time. Non stop action at its best.

Enjoyed it much better than the first one.

Matt Damon plays a good character.

It is one of those movies that you probably need to go see again, just in case you missed something. So I may go and see it again.

Glad they left it open for another one.

Overall: 4.5 out of 5 stars.

Loved the first one and the second is no different, action, action and more action. Some nice twists and turns and I like the seemingly laid back Damon. Worth the $$.

I'll put in a dissenting vote here. Why does every movie now need a silly fifteen minute totally unbelievable car chase? The action scenes are way overdone in many cases. There were elements of a good plot enough to keep me somewhat interested. The movie bore little resemblance to the book which i enjoyed very much. I agree with the others about the photography in the action scenes. It gave me a headache quite frankly.

I found the car chase in this movie to be too long as well. However, considering the excellence of the first movies chase, most likely the best car chase since Ronin, I don't blame them for wanting to repeat it for the second movie.

I personally found this movie substantially better than the first. I thought the plot was a lot tighter. I thought Joan Allen was better than Chris Cooper, although she did have a far more nuanced role to play with. The increased screen time for Brian Cox and Julia Styles (who wouldn't have hurt my eyes had she had an even larger plot) was great as well. I think Damon is just so perfect in the role of Bourne I can't imagine that they'd be able to sustain this franchise without him as I've heard it suggested they do after the next movie.

I saw it today, but wasn't overly impressed, but I agree with Imet, the toaster bomb kicked ass. The film had too much of those quick vision flashbacks that almost made me sick

I agree with the "not overly impressed" sentiment, but for someone who goes to the movie only once in a blue-moon, I had an enjoyable experience.

I didn't think the shaking cameras would bother me, but I did indeed find them rather annoying.

Re: the flashbacks, I actually liked them. This was the first movie where I was able to actually figure out what was happening without asking somebody later on.

Since this is a thread for Ludlum fans, may I have a minor threadjack. Has anybody read the Road to Gandolfo or it's sequel, Road to Omaha? I haven't read a lot of Ludlum but these are two of my favorite novels and I'd love to see General MacKenzie Hawkins and Sam Deveraux on the big screen.

Of course, it'd be hard finding someone to play the Hawk now that George C Scott has passed away.

Road to Omaha was some of the best comedy I've ever read. In my mind it was Leslie Nielsen playing the Hawk. Gene Hackman could do it justice too.

Gandolfo was actually more funny. If you enjoyed Omaha, you really should read it.

For Omaha, I could maybe see Hackman but from the very beginning of Gandolfo, with the Hawk in China busting out of his hut, climbing on the roof of the Chinese HQ and taking a piss on Chairman Mao's statue, the part just screams George C Scott. He's Patton once they decide to put him out to pasture and he's not in the least bit ready to graze yet.

Yeah, with out current crop of actors, Hackman is probably the best choice I'll grant you. Devereaux has always been Griffin Dunne to me but others would do just as well.

One of the reasons I brought this up is because most Ludlum fans hated these books because they are so non Ludlum. I went the other way. I read Gandolfo and then tried reading his serious spy novels and didn't see the author I'd been expecting to read. It's a shame he couldn't have pleased both crowds more often in his career.

The Jason Bourne from the novels might give Bond a run for his money, but they have never developed Matt Damon's character enough in the movies to contend with Bond.

That being said, I have loved both movies. The action has been great and Matt Damon has done a great job in the lead role IMO.

I must say, however, that when I watched each movie, I had to try to put the books out of my mind. I have read all three of the books in the Bourne series by Ludlum and lets just be honest here, the only similarities between the movies and the books are the name Jason Bourne and the amnesia he has. The similarities stop there.

Yep. Don't forget to add the fact that they mentioned Treadstone in the book as well. There's another similarity. There was absolutely no connection to the book, from the movie. I don't mind though, it was a good movie.

Watch the one with George Lazenby as Bond. I think it gets a bad rap. Lazenby's no Connery certainly, but there's actually some character development in that one. I haven't seen it in a while, but I remember enjoying that aspect of it.

Just watched this last night and have to agree with the others. It may have been a good movie but I couldn't tell because the damn camera was shaking so much. Please bring back the previous director for the third movie, please.
