And before anybody blasts this because it's on Drudge, I saw the same stuff in a couple of mainstream newspapers about an hour ago.

Pretty funny stuff. Not that it means anything, but it's still funny.

I saw this reported elsewhere, in an AP story. I didn't watch the convention, and I certainly wouldn't have watched it on CNN in any event, but what I want to know is, why'd they let his comments air for so long?
Really, this is another of those non-news stories, like the Jenna Bush sticks her tongue out at reporters story. If anything, the only legitimate reason to report this is for those people who were watching and wondering what they were listening to. One last point - it's pretty sad state of affairs in our political climate when something like this can't escape being reported...or responded to. Much like the Kerry photo op denials/responses, was this really necessary? Do we really need spin and justification for every little thing that's perceived to go wrong in a campaign? Mistakes happen... "Stephen Jewett, a DNC official involved in podium operations, said there was no malfunction with the balloon drop. The balloons were timed to come down slowly, he said, making "for a longer ending, which was nice."

Mrs. Q and I were in stitches listening to this... I was predicting that we'd start hearing him swear just before he did (it was easy to see coming).
And just as predictably, the CNN talking heads spent three or four minutes discussing the balloon situation before actually turning to the content of the speech. Nice job. |

I watched Kerry's speech on CNN last night and you could hear it over the T.V. clear as day. My wife and I were rolling on the floor. This guy was freaking out about the balloons. Finally he let go with this blast to the workers in the rafters. What the F### are you guys doing up there. Very funny. great stuff.

yeah, it's just amusing. It's a Spinal Tap moment. At least Kerry and Edwards didn't get stuck in their giant plastic pods.
