Last FOF game with expansions
I was wondering what was the last FOF game the had expansions. I've been playing FOF series since FOF 2 and I wanted to go back and play the last one w/ the expansion option.
I'm thinking the last one was FOF 2001...

Expansion was the best feature, and is sorely missed.

2001 expanded from 31 to 36 teams.

If you want the .exe for the game, you can get it from ea's website. I think that the main page has a link

FOF4 had an option to start as the Texans (or whatever you called that team) in the offseason. The coaching staff was set, but you start with no players and go through the expansion draft and a limited form of free agency before getting to the amateur draft.
P.S. There was never any patch for FOF 2001. |

Yeah, I don't remember any kind of patch. The rosters are all the real NFL players with no other options

The FOF Historical Project has FOF4 roster files, but I'mnot sure if those will work with FOF2K1. Also, there isn't a 2001 roster file. You can go with either 1992 or 2003, however...

You can start in 1992 with FOF2K1?

Don't forget the atrocity that was FOF2002. I think that had expansion as well.

If the roster files for FOF4 work with FOF2K1 I don't see why you couldn't...

True. It is an identical game to FOF2001 though, just with a hack-job of an updated roster. |

Yeah, I think they were all related to the roster hack-job. You would have stuff like guys signed to 4 year deals costing $0 against the cap each year. |

Ah yes. You know, in baseball, when three guys go after the ball and it falls in between them all? That's what happened to FOF 2002. Jim didn't take any responsibility for it, since EA gave him the boot and Gigawatt changed the code beyond repair. EA didn't take responsibility, they just sold it all the way through last year. And Gigawatt didn't take any responsibility either.
I feel sorry for those that own a game that is so unloved. |

I bought 2002 and was ashamed of the purchase. Players contracts appeared to be a year off, like the years had been updated, but the code had not. You could have guys that would give you a "free year" and have no salary cost. God that was an awful game.
