I don't have a caption, but goodness their backup kicker must suck.

A couple of thoughts on that game from a Tiger fan.
OSU played a magnificent game. It is a shame they had to lose. The deluge at kickoff time really helped OSU. I think on a dry field in the heat, LSU would have won by 2 or 3 TDs, but then OSU has to be given credit for taking advantage of the conditions. LSU missed to FGs in the game in the 40yd range. They make one, they win in regulation, all other things being equal. LSU will struggle at QB. Senior Marcus Randall looked terrible. Freshman JaMarcus Russell looked like a freshman phenom, great at times, terrible at times. But he is a winner. Also have to give credit to MR for coming back into the game and scoring the winning TD in OT. LSU won like great teams do. They found a way. They did not give up. Like Florida and Miami and OSU teams that sometimes look terrible yet somehow find a way. LSU would not have won that game in past years. Overall, LSU has a long way to go, but do not count them out. Will be interesting to see what the AP voters do. Certainly they will hold to form and not lower the ranking of a team that wins. Right? Right? Right? Oh, this is LSU, not USC or Oklahoma, so LSU will drop. |

I think LSU's defense looked as good as it did last season, in the limited number of times I saw them. Their offense, on the other hand, has some serious problems. Alot of the top teams were sluggish in their debuts, but none had the problems that LSU had. I certainly won't count them out of the race with their talent and their coaching staff, but just based upon that one game, I'd be very surprised if they don't drop at least one this season.

Didn't take long for someone to say Florida State. Anyone want to bet Florida State loses to Miami on an Extra Point?

I can agree with that, though I think the problems may not be as serious as it looked. The rain was simply incredible before the game. The field was a lake. LSU is also breaking in new wideouts. Looked like we found the Russell-Bowe connection at the end, a new go-to receiver, the one who caught the two big passes on the last drive. Interestingly, last year began with a deluge and rain delay, but LSU was playing UL-Monroe. Even so, they looked terrible for the entire first half and were only leading like 6-0 late into the second quarter. Interesting one AP voter says he will drop LSU from #4 to #8. Bet the a-hole would never drop USC that far after a WIN. Which leads to my last point. Strength of schedule has been taken out of the BCS formula. LSU would not have been in the BCS championship game w/o strength of schedule. I hope everyone likes that strength of schedule is no longer a balancing consideration in the BCS formual. |
