dola,
You do get a 7-day. 25-try (whichever runs out first) trial of it, for those of you who are not sure. |

Glad to see the game has a trial. If there's no major bug reports in the next day or two, I'll give the demo a try.

There is not a career mode in the version, correct? That will be the next one I have heard (?)).

You're right, this one doesn't have career mode. The developer said that if this one sells enought, he will start to work on a new version with career mode included. So i hope this one sells like mad i'm interested on a boxing sim where i can manage my stable and run the career of some boxers. Anyway i will try the demo, mybe i can play it with home rules to be able to run a career sim on it.

So far the only problems have been with the install. Mine was fine. A couple of minor bugs (clicking on the x in the right upper corner from the Fighters screen does not close the game), but nothing major in the least bit. You do have to run it at 1024x768 resolution. Not a problem for me, since that's my default resolution anyway. I also had a slight problem with the display, but an update to my drivers fixed it up (so make sure your video card's drivers are updated). |

Reading through the forum over there, looks like the major area of concern so far has been with the resolution & the install process (as sabotai just noted).
Thing that hangs me though (beyond the install problems) is that there hasn't been much said at all, one way or the other, about the game play itself. Judging from the forum content at this point, either: a) everyone is too busy playing to post b) most folks are fighting the install glitch c) there's a very slim pool of initial buyers I want to like this game, but in the middle of my busiest work time of the year, I'm content to let others sort out its problems & then read carefully before committing any time to it.

I came scorss another bug (I think). The WBC rankings are off. I've had 5-35 guys rankied higher than 18-0-0 guys. But that's just for the WBC so far. The other two major title rankings seem fine. I'm sure it's just a minor formula tweak or something.

Out of curiosity, were the highly ranked 5-35 guys associated with Don King?

I downloaded it last night, used the trial version for a while and then bought it. My system was set up properly in advance, so had no technical issues. I thoroughly enjoyed simming some fights last night. I didn't check WBC rankings, so can't comment there, but Andreas is aware of the issue.
There is no true career mode, but there are some reasonable ways of doing it yourself for fighters in the retired category. Others have successfully run aspects of a career mode even with older versions of this game. I would suggest that the fence sitters wait until the first patch and then try the seven day trial. There is also a seven day money back policy once you purchase, so you have ample time to decide if it is something further to keep you away from She Who Must be Obeyed over the holidays.

Hey Gary what are you doing over here? LOL!
I am going to buy your game as soon as it becomes a little more stable. So get back to work. (LOL) Just kidding of course. Good to see you taking a break!

Well I tried the demo tonight. I have to say I'm pretty disappointed. The game is just way to simplistic in the areas I'm interested in. Someone said this game had 25% of the management features for the next version already in place. I really hope that's not true because as far as I can tell there's almost no career or management features available. Sure, you could use it to play a career...you could also use a set of dice and a piece of paper. If it was even close to the type of game I was hoping for, I was planning on buying it. I'll be passing on this one and hoping that they sell enough to the hardcore boxing replay crowd to justify another version that might have enough career/management elements to warrant my purchase next year or sometime in the future.
Edit: I don't want to come off too negative about the game. If you are looking for a boxing sim that's more of a pure matchup simulation, this game is great. The number of real boxers, venues, etc are just staggering. While those things aren't really important to me, if they are to you (and the lack of true career play doesn't bother you) the game is a "must try" IMO. Last edited by Bee : 12-10-2003 at 06:41 AM. |

Not that there's anything wrong with that Seriously, those are the games that are tempting me most often these days.

I've gotten the itch do play a boxing sim recently. Any final reviews of this after the final patch. I don't think there's any other CPU alternatives but I know there's a few tabletop games that could be an alternatives. Any suggestions? |
