I know Syracuse for a fact.

UCLA? I think Michigan and Ohio State are likely answers as well. There will be at least 1 lame answer no one will think of like Harvard who won them in the early 1900s

This was the question on the bowl game tonight.

They gave the answer as:
Michigan
Michigan St.
Syracuse
Maryland
Ohio St.

They did not have UCLA as an answer. Don't know if that is related to the fact that the 1954 title was 'split'.

Considering there is no ACTUAL football national championship it's kinda a bogus question anyways.

UCLA was listed as the National Champion by UPI that year.. the answer given by lynchjm24 (and the ESPN announcers last night) is for the AP flavor of the National Championship.

Arkansas has a claim to it, although nobody outside of the state of Arkansas agrees. In 1964 the final polls came out before the bowl games were played. Alabama and Arkansas were both unbeaten and untied. The polls voted Alabama #1. Alabama then lost to Texas who was beaten earlier in the year by Arkansas. Arkansas won their bowl game to end the year as the only undefeated college football team, but no national championship from the AP or UPI. Some other lesser known entity claimed Arkansas as the national champions.

It was a lot of fun listening to the ESPN crew try to explain their definition of "National Champion" thanks to all the questioning they got about their answers
