More proof that people are on crack. Seriously though, who plays Madden for $600?

Heh, I can totally believe this story. Former buddy of mine put at least 3 holes in the wall of his room from various losses to myself and another friend of ours playing anything from Madden to NHL to whatever Baseball game was the hit of the year. And that wasn't even wagering.
Of course the all time classic moment was when he put his controller through the TV screen after throwing it in a moment of disgust. Guess he didn't realize that the cord was that long. ::sigh:: I'll never forget the sobering moment when he realized what he had done, approximately 1.5 seconds before his mother hollered up to see what was going on. Needless to say, I didn't stick around for dinner.

Travis.....BWAHAHA! That's funny! I'll get mad at a game, just because, well, losing sucks and winning feels good. But damn, to actually throw something? Through the TV no less! That's not simple glass, he must have really hurled that thing.

I've never stabbed anyone over a video game but hey, Madden is an intense game! I've been tempted to break my monitor after losing the game in the last few seconds to a Terrell Owens hail mary or a fumble at the worse possible moment. It's really frustrating when they drive the ball up your throats with their running game in the last quarter and you can't stop it.

Hahahaha...
This last line had me dying: Quote:
"Let's see. I owe my buddy $600 from a game of Madden. I just tried to slice him up. Instead of cooling off after he locked me out of his house, I went back to my car, got a gun, and broke down his door, all this with his kids around. Then I fled before the cops picked me up. I got charged with 4 different crimes, and I'm sitting in a jail cell. I better give this guy the money I owe him..." |

I don't think that the story is not entirely acurate. It says the man went out to his car to get his gun, but I'm pretty sure he was just going to get his crowbar before he saw his gun.
Though The Sports Guy speaks of more Madden violence in his Madden 2003 article: "On the bright side, Madden and Summerall are announcing at this point, and there's one season (maybe '96?) where you could hit players after the whistle, sometimes followed by a sickening snap (their knees getting blown out), then the player dropping in a heap as Summerall says, "Uh-oh, there's a man down." In other words, it's open season on opposing players, prompting Gus to take out Ben Coates during the end of one head-to-head loss, nearly causing us to come to blows. We eventually declare a moritorium on intentionally injuring players. And yes, Gus still has a legally sanctioned marriage at this point. " |
