Unhappy Yikes!!! I'm flying transatlantic this week and next!

I just found out that I've got to fly back to the US on Thursday for a meeting on Friday, then fly back to Italy on the following Tuesday.

Before Sept. 11th, wouldn't have given a thought about hopping on an airplane, only to maybe have to take an unplanned diversion to Israel, Ethiopia, or Cuba.

Now, I'm going to be a little more vigilant up there in business class, and keep my laptop in its bag so it can be swung, if necessary, with great force upside some infidels head.

Things worldwide are about to get real interesting, real soon!

DOLA:

Since CM4 won't be out for this trip back this week, the smuggling will have to wait for another trip.

No, we're the infidels. Not them. They're just nucking futs.

If someone wants to take control of a plane that I'm on, I don't care where they are from, what they look like, or what their beliefs are, they are an infidel to me in that immediate situation!

I don't think you'll find it any worse than any other time - I flew during the last gulf war, flew just after 9/11 and will be making a quick trip home in the next couple of weeks.

Airport security here is slowly getting to a reasonable level, so you should be fine.

Good luck

Not too concerned, but the doubt is still a little there. I've already got almost 50,000 flight miles so far this year (YIKES!!!), so I'm sure nothing is going to happen, but of all the time to be flying, the most unsettling is the beginning of a military conflict.

Personally I always thought at the end of a military conflict was more worrying, when one side has nothing more too lose and does desperate acts - but I haven't really considered it indepth.

But as you're flying that much I really shouldn't have mentioned that should I !!

I hear you cart, I flew transatlantic next week to London, then go to France for a couple of days before returning to the US. I'm a little concerned, especially about the reaction I'll get being an American in France. We'll see....

If your worried about getting hijacked take a sympahtetic countries airline.

Air France
Alitalia
Lufthansa
Air canada

It would be smart to stay off:
American
United
EL Al
British Airways

Well, I am flying on Lufthansa, so I feel much better now! But I am flying into Houston, oil capital of the USA, so the good feelings are a bit tempered. But I then realize that I will see my co-worker who is a Texans cheerleader, so I feel much better again!
