Take 5: James Bond
Take 5 is a sports radio segment that can often be heard on ESPN Radio 1000. Take 5 was created by radio host Harry Tienowitz. I now bring this wildly popular radio segment to the FOFC boards.
Now that Pierce Brosnan has been retired as James Bond, I am asking you to name your top 5 actors to take over the role of James Bond. For example. In order 1. Clive Owen - Notable Movies: Sin City, Closer, and King Arthur. Upcoming Movies: Inside Man (Spike Lee, Denzel Washington), Sin City 2, and Children of Men. 2. Ewan McGregor - Notable Movies: Star Wars I-III, Black Hawk Down, and Trainspotting. Upcoming Movies: Stay and Stormbreaker. 3. Joseph Fiennes - Notable Movies: The Great Raid, Enemy at the Gates, and Shakespeare in Love. Upcoming Movies: The Darwin Awards, Running with Scissors, and Man to Man. 4. Jason Statham - Notable Movies: The Transporter 1-2, Snatch, and Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels. Upcoming Movies: The Brazillian Job and Revolver. 5. Vinnie Jones - Notable Movies: Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels, Snatch (Bullet Tooth Tony ), and Gone in 60 Seconds. Upcoming Movies: X-Men 3.

Ewan McGregor would be a good call imho ... although I'd also like Mr. Brosnan back, I thought he did the role well ...
(and I hope the 'Vinnie Jones' was tongue in cheek ... he's about as skilful an actor as he was a footballer ) Last edited by Marc Vaughan : 08-18-2005 at 04:49 PM. |

Mc Gregor would be the best. Closely followed by Ben Affleck.

Out of those 5, I'd say Clive Owen fits the part best. James Bond is really about acting skill, it's about image. I just don't see the other 4 pulling off the James Bond image at all and I'm skeptical of Clive Owen.

The role of 007 is not exactly Shakespeare. But, you are right I was being a little sarcastic with the nomination of Vinnie Jones. I was going to put Orlando Bloom in the 5 spot, but that would be too boring.

Leo DiCaprio would make a fine James Bond, so would Gilbert Godfried, I'll even throw in Rob Schneider as a dark horse contender.

I think Clive Owen would be an exceptional choice.

I'd put McGregor as #1 and Owen as #2. But I don't know who to name for 3-5.

Out of these guys Clive Owen fits the Bond character the best.
McGregor doesn't have the right look for Bond, no matter how good an actor he is.

I think that guy (who plays Christian) from Nip-Tuck would be a great choice. Also, is the sexy Aston Martin out, with FIAT in now?

1.) Clive Owen (41 years old) (Sin City, King Arthur) Overall, my favorite pick if I can't have Brosnan back.
2.) Julian McMahon (37 years old) (Nip/Tuck, Fantastic Four) Strong 1A if he hadn't already associated himself with a different franchise. 3.) Robert Carlyle (44 years old) (Trainspotting, Plunckett and Macleane) Underratted actor, and my dark horse pick. 4.) Daniel Craig (37 years old) (Laura Croft: Tomb Raider) From what I've heard he's already got the job. 5.) Hugh Dancy (30 years old) (Black Hawk Down, Ella Enchanted) Would be a good, young, and relatively unknown choice for Bond.

I hated Pierce Bronson as Bond. I'd like Timothy Dalton back.

McGregor would get my vote. Another possibility that hasn't been mentioned could be Hugh Jackman. He has quite the range, from Wolverine to musicals, and he has the look, so I think he could play the part.
I actually love the idea of Stratham, but I don't think he has enough hair.

Vinnie Jones and Jason Statham have been typecast into rugged-man type roles. Fiennes is more of a drama actor, really.
I'd have to go with either Clive Owen or Ewan Mcgregor.

I think a bald Bond would be different. Now that I think of it Vinnie Jones would be a better Bond villian. He is just to big to be Bond. Quote:

Hugh Jackman is an inspired choice. He did an American accent flawlessly, I'm sure he can do the same for the upper class English accent as well.

Clive Owen. He looks like he can be bad ass and suave at the same time. He would fit well. If he can't do it, I would like to see them choose a random no-named actor that up and coming. That's how they got Connery and I think it would be a good choice...

1. Homer J. Simpson he's just done TV shows, but this guy could make the leap to the silver screen
2. Alf well, Superman he's not, since he doesn't have any powers...but neither does Bond 3. George W. Bush take that terrorists!!! 4. Ronald McDonald I heard he's trying to explore different opportunities...and think of the tie-ins! 5. Bill Gates who has better gadgets than he does? |

He had a good turn in Cold Mountain. He'd have to buff up for the role though. Could be a good choice though.

Jude Law's a little to feminine for Bond. There is know "name" actor that's a better fit right now that Brosnan--Clive Owen is a good choice, though.
