FOFC/SGS College Football Poll, first regular season poll results

Hello all,

Here are the results of the first regular season FOFC/SGS College Top 25 poll.

USC is still on top, and Texas has solidified their hold on the #2 spot. There is a glut of SEC teams in the top 10, but look for that to thin out over the coming weeks, starting with this weekend's Tennessee-Florida match up. We had a bit of turnover, with 5 teams dropping out of the poll. The highest ranked newcomer was Notre Dame at #11, which didn't receive any votes in the pre-season poll.

Looking forward to another weekend of exciting college football action!

As long as Drew Stanton is healthy, Michigan State deserves to be getting votes ahead of the Pitt's/Vandy's/UConn's.

I can't believe Texas got two votes over a team that hasn't been beaten in nearly two years.

I voted for Southern Cal #1, but I think it would be more accurate to say that they haven't lost in over 2 weeks. Last season doesn't count. They lost 4 of 5 OL and a lot on defense.

I still think they're better than everyone else, as do most, but it's not out of the question that they're not.

How did Boise State get 15 points? They're 0-2, right?

They are still in the Top 25 of Jim's computer poll. The first few weeks of the season have carryover weight from last season, I think that is why they are still there.
