dola, I saw some team take a TE with the first pick once. But he was at least pretty damn good.

Uhh...as a Chargers fan, I find this to be a very true statement. Although he got the Chargers to their first Super Bowl, he also had some of the most questionable picks and he was responsible in getting rid of one of the best coaches we had in a long time. Why did you have to tear my heart with these comments. I am still scarred.
But getting back on subject. Wowsers! |

Here he is post-training camp:
What makes this pick even more inexplicable is that SDG has the best FB in the league and Mr. Shively is inactive. I am at a loss. |

Just blame it on the Spanos, they strong armed the GM to make this pick. I just know it.

Was he at least a studly FB before he was picked? I mean, he could have been an insta-bust.
That doesn't defend the pick, but it takes it out of the "what the *bleeping* hell?!!?" zone.

You can usually land 80s range FB's in the 3rd round.

I would guess that something is not as it seems here.

I've seen this happen before. Granted the fullback in that case was better than this. |

Why is the chargers color scheme so messed up in the first photo? Looks like the Bills color scheme.

He was rated 27/46 before he was drafted according to my scout and he was nowhere on my radar. They picked him over a 55/95 DE and a 47/88 QB! |

I believe that this might be due to a bug that I have occasionally observed while drafting where if you change the draft speed to fastest right at the start of the draft, either you or the computer auto-drafts some scrub. I've only noticed it when it happened to me, but it could very well have happened to the computer also. |

Hey you never know what could happen with this guy. The Chargers did draft a FB at one time and converted him to a running back and he had 3 great years with the Chargers. His name was Marion Butts. The only problem was that Marion was not picked in the first round. And how are your scout's ratings for running backs. Isn't this how your scout sees the running back?

No, I actually scouted him right after he was drafted because I was shocked to see an FB taken. He was not rated anywhere in the top players according to the combine. I thought ratings didn't change until after you click "Begin Late Free Agency" but I could be wrong. Also, if you look at his combine scores, they aren't at all what you'd expect from a top player.
