Minnesota Wild Scrimmage Mites!

I don't know if anyone has posted this or saw this, but, I've seen some pics from this and it sounded like it was pretty cool deal for everyone involved!

Shootouts add sizzle to hockey's steak

Quick Read: Player procurement once had many risks

Brodeur robs Wild in shootout

Wild: No one said it would be easy
A reminder that hockey is indeed a kid's game occurred before practice Sunday. At a rink in Inver Grove Heights, the Wild thought it had ice time 45 minutes before it actually did.

So instead of hanging out in cramped locker rooms, every Wild player jumped on the ice for an impromptu 30-minute clinic with 30 7- and 8-year-olds practicing with the Rosemount Mite Youth Hockey League.

With smiles on their faces, Wild players skated, passed with and scrimmaged with the children. Players like Brian Rolston and Scott Ferguson played goal. The 6-7 Derek Boogaard defended oncoming 3-foot-6 kids.

Parents took pictures. Players, after practicing with their idols, got autographs.

It was quite the sight.

"I know if I was that age, if the Red Wings came out with me, it'd be a big thrill," said Rolston, who is from Flint, Mich. "I hope they enjoyed it because I know it was fun for us."

You just don't see this kind of stuff much in the modern era of sports (or ever). It's a great story.

Knowing as little as I do about 'Oggie generally, this was one of the toughest-to-translate thread titles I've seen in some time.

Nice story, though.

That happened once with me with the Red Wings in 95.

When they were playing San Jose, both teams practiced at Compuware Arena in Oak Park.

We were on the ice and all of a sudden Kris Draper, Keith Primeau and Slava Kozlov hopped on the ice and skated with us and warmed up with us for like 20 minutes.

It was amazing.

I love when this kind of stuff happens.

Some little kid should have picked a fight with Boogaard.

Same here, especially when I saw the "Heroes and mites share ice" part while hovering the mouse over the title. I assumed there was some sort of infestation during a Wild game last night or something.
