If they made a poll of sports fans, I'd say that over 80% would probably not want to expand. I guess the NCAA should never shock me, but I can't remember another major sport that made league altering decision of such low approval.

32 more games = a lot more money. The same reason the NBA,NFL, and NHL playoffs have like half the teams. (And even MLB) We will be pissed for about a year and then forget about it and debate bubble teams that could make the field of 96.

They would have easily made it. They hosted a game in the NIT.

ETSU probably shouldn't have taken that 10-8 lead.

An 18-4 run by Kentucky since ... and counting

I guess I just don't see it that way. Take the Big East tournament - the finale between WVU and Georgetown featured two teams with not a ton to gain by winning in terms of entry to the NCAA tournament and/or seeding, (though Huggins lobbied for a #1 seed after the win, he said before the game that WVU was a 2, and he was happy with that.) It was an extremely hard fought game that came down to the last play. Guys on both sides were in tears after the game. I think the conference tournaments matter plenty and always will.

The major conferences are different though. Although I do think you kill a lot of the early round drama from them. Notre Dame, Illinois, and Minnesota fighting for wins so they could get in. I love Championship Week for the mid-majors and smaller conference tournaments. Watching a school battle in its own gym for a rare trip to the tournament. There is just so much passion in those games.

I mean, do we really need 8 Big Ten teams in the tournament? Or 13 Big East schools? I guess it offers something good for schools/conferences both big and small. But I think it lowers the quality of the tournament and the integrity of the sport.

Kentucky with 18 points in less than 5 minutes to start the 2nd half. I guess that Eric Bledsoe guy can shoot it a little, 7-7 from 3pt land.

That's now a 64-25 run by Kentucky.

Really happy with the first half. Obviously we are going to need to make adjustments but Romar has been great with that during this streak. Look for Pondexter to get a lot more involved in the second half. I think we need to dump it inside more often and use our size.

On the defensive end really all we can do is keep getting hands in their faces and rebound. They are to quick on the perimeter for us to do much else.

So with Villanova getting a ref-aided squeaker OT win over Robert Morris and Georgetown going down in flames to Ohio, should we restart the whole "how good was the Big East?" discussion again?

#7 RPI, #12 Kenpom, not many metrics they weren't a top 12 team in that I've seen.

They're 7th in the RPI with the #1 SOS. They also had 6 wins over top 15 RPI teams, including 1 seeds Duke and Syracuse. They seemed a little inconsistent all year, though.

Northern Iowa starting to stretch things out. They're up 9 and with that defense, it could take a while to cut into--

Never mind. UNLV with a deuce and then a steal and three to cut it back down to 4.

I'm not surprised that they shifted away from the Gtown game due to it being a blow out -- I just never expected it would be the Hoyas getting blown out.

So, has Kentucky been the only team to just come out and whip their opponents ass today? I missed some of the earlier games, but everything seems relatively close.
