okay, we (my wife and I) got caught up with the show over the weekend. Thank you torrents, if not for you, there is absolutely no way we'd have gotten hooked to this series. Now, we look forward to watch the new episode and keep on watching them week in, week out.
I also got caught up reading this thread, good read too, some interesting theories in here. I'm not big on theories regarding the different characters at the moment, maybe more as we go along. One thing was sure to me, I never mistook DL for the mindswipe guy (whom I also call "the shaman" cause he freaks me out). FM

This is how I got hooked to Lost the first season. Being on the road mid-week there was never any doubt I would miss each weeks show and never would have become a huge fan without them. Really, TV networks shouldn't discourage them too much IMO. I haven't used torrents since really, catching the show other ways (recording them or on DVD). So in the end it can't be all that bad for them with many people. I am a fan of ABC and NBC putting shows to watch on their websites now though, and have used ABC's site to watch Lost.

Wow, I knew she had evil tendencies, but I didn't think she was out and out evil.
Nice cliffhanger again. I'm really liking DL as a character, but Ando is still my fave. There's a lot to sort through, but I'll post more of my comments when I get home later. Off to an All-Greek event now.

A summary of the voiceover? Or was it just the Indian guy talking about evolution again or something?

None taken. It was a little silly to point it out I know, considering the average FOFCer is significantly more intelligent than the average individual as a whole, but I felt pretty salty for not guessing the neighbour girl's true connexion earlier when everyone else called it in this thread, so I wanted to feel good about figuring *something* out. I also knew DL would show up when he did near the end in this particular episode. I just thought he was going to be the cliffhanger again, to get another symmetry scene going.

My DVR went out at the end, too.
I'm still thinking that Clarie's dad is not going to end up being the bad guy. Too obvious. I'm guessing his role will be ambiguous until his storyline plays out and then, after he dies, he will be revealed as a good guy. |

<save the cheerleader. Kill the show?>
OK, so another episode has passed without any real insight into the cheerleader's dad's true intentions, motives, or alignment. lol
I'm still supporting the lawful evil bit, but I'm intrigued by the brief genetic discussion between the cheerleader and the french kissing mom (if you want to see what she french kisses, watch the show)... EWWWW. So there's a clear chromosomal link. interesting. For a brief second, I thought the dad HAD tracked down the parents, in an effort to check out their possible powers. Oh, and what will happen when the heroes actually DO save the cheerleader? Who will the super team have to save? "Save the ________, save the world." 1) Construction worker 2) Butcher 3) Drag Queen 4) Anorexic Model 5) Republicans' chances at retaining the Congressional majority

Not dead.
Also, while there had been a general call for Mohinder's neighbor to be a mole, as I recall, Sylar, not horn-rim, was the predicted tie.

I think the show went over by about 20 secs. My DVR went out as well. Luckily I went to live TV and the end was still in my buffer.

Possible spoiler, but it seems IMDB shows who Sylar is. I found it accidently, but it's there in the cast list, so be careful if you don't want to find out or go check it out if you do.

I had DVR issues last week, so I set up the recording so it starts a full 5 minutes before the show and ends a good 30 minutes after. No reason to chance it. I loved the episode. It worked well. One of the best. It's good, though not too surprising, that Eden was a mole. If she wasn't, she'd just be annoying without a purpose. It's much better to be annoying with a purpose. It makes sense that she's working for Claire's dad. I think quite a bit could be revealed about him in the next few episodes. If he's truly a bastard he wont care about the fact that they have to "save the cheerleader", if he's not, he'll show concern for Claire. I am thinking the latter (I hope). I have to say I like the cheerleader's mom. She seems well written and realistic in a way some of the others aren't. She seems the perfct wife for a secret agent/government guy to have, sort of oblivious, focused on the dog, unassuming, etc. A nice touch. Evil Ali rules. She's awesome. I loved the fight between DL and Evil Ali. The superpowers were really well done there and the scene was well executed. It simply can't be enjoyable to have someone tickling/re-arranging your internal organs. It will be very interesting to see what path Evil Ali takes from here on out. The show has very good pacing. There are enough interesting characters that all of them don't need to be involved for the episode to work and it's nice when they come back. I like how they are all intersecting, it's like watching a "Lost" flashback, but in "real time". The show's got quite a few interesting plots that are developing at a very nice pace. I can't wait for next week.

Before we found out, I was thinking she could be a person with special abilities that would have to proof to the doctor that these people exist. That way he stays. I liked how it turned out. The tattoo evil ali has is playing out too. I'm starting to wonder if Claire's dad and mind wipe guy split ali's personalities, building a weapon for some purpose. They both sort of recognized her when they took the flying politician and left her. Kinda like they already dealt there her, no reason to take her. |

I think he does care about Claire. The expresson on his face when Eden told him about the message indicated as much. Remember, that's not a moment when anyone was watching him so he didn't have to act. It looked to me like a pure, unguarded moment of concern. Also, if he didn't care for her, why have mindwipe guy erase Brody's memories? And I'll still stick to Lawful Evil for him.

Then how do you explain the masculine voice of Sylar on the answering machine in that one episode? And how do you explain that outline in the one episode of Sylar that looked absolutely nothing like Eden? To be able to have both things be plausible, Sylar would have the power to a) change voices and b) change appearances. ...Which, if a and b are true, more roads get opened up.

I don't think he did that for Claire, I think he did it for Brody/the world. I think the guy is sort of a "make the world a better place" type of guy, who is willing to go to great lengths to see that "dream" a reality. He sees a evil, serial rapist, he wipes his mind clean and gives him a "re-start" if you will. He mentioned something like that before it happened. It would also explain his interest in the supers. They are the future of a better tomorrow. If getting them and runnign tests on them helps make it happen, well so be it. Those ends justify the means in his case. That's my early read on the character thus far... I don't think that makes him lawful evil (though that could depend on who (if anyone) he's actually working for), but more fanatical in his approach to his work.

But if Brody doesn't rape Claire, does Claire's dad still mindwipe if he knows Brody's a rapist? I don't think he does. It's that personal connection which gives him the real motive to erase Brody. It's an interesting theory you have, though and certainly plausible.

Whatever his ultimate intentions for Claire, it would be wholly implausible for "dad" not to care about her, unless he's a sociopath or psychopath or whatever the right term is.

Oh when everyone was asking if she was dead, I thought they were talking about a different person because I highly doubt Ali Larters character would die this early if at all.

I liked the "conversation" between Evil Ali and Good Ali and how it was filmed plus the fight between her and her husband. She's definitely not dead because that would be kind of a waste of a character.
I'm glad Mohinder's neighbor true allegiance was revealed, makes her a much more interesting character, and now I'm wondering what powers she has. And the Japanese guys were great as always with Hiro's friend seeming to buy totally into the whole idea now of being Heroes, and encouraging Hiro to continue on his journey. But the most intriguing part perhaps was the conversation between the cheerleader and her mom about her being sick as a baby. Last edited by Thomkal : 10-31-2006 at 12:12 PM. |

When Hiro froze time in last weeks episode in the train he initially said "Peter Petrelli.....you look different without the scar."
I keep wondering what scar Hiro was talking to peter about? It has to be some horrific scar he gets, maybe in a fight with Sylar. Why else would Peter look so different without a scar unless it was a huge scar.

I've also been wondering if they'll explain why all these powers are manifesting themselves now. There doesn't, as of yet, seem to be any explanation for this. If it is truly a genetic thing, which seems to be the explanation that they are going with (the doctor's research, Claire's dad testing her DNA, etc.), then it would seem as if they would have had their powers from birth.
In X-Men lore, mutant powers typically didn't manifest themselves until puberty. That was the general rule, but not always followed. Here it seems like all of a sudden they are discovering these new powers at various ages. I am curious if they'll explain what the "trigger" was, if anything.

The trigger could very well be necessity.. the whole New York nuclear bomb/save the world thing. What I'm starting to wonder about now is how exactly saving Claire will save the world. Is that sign that the dad might be Sylar after all or in some way affiliated with him? i.e. such gratitude for saving daughter that he aborts his diabolical plan? ...Probably too much of a reach, and I'm already thinking of holes that can be shot in it, but hey, it's food for discussion and a point I think that's worth pondering over.

My guess is they have to save the cheerleader so that Sylar doesn't get her powers of healing. This is assuming that he somehow picks up other people's powers by getting their brains and....eating them or whatever. If he were to be mostly invulnerable he would become unstoppable. Unless they could jam a wooden stick into his head.
