Southern Conference Tournament
2nd Round: (1) Charleston Southern 53, (8) The Citadel 43 The Citadel actually shoots better than the Bucs, when they hold on to the ball that is. Charleston Southern takes 10 more shots thanks to 16 forced turnovers and pull away from tie at halftime to win comfortably. Semifinals: (1) Charleston Southern 59, (5) Western Carolina 41 Western Carolina kept it close in the first half by getting to the line and putting several Bucs players in foul trouble. However, 17 turnovers and .345 shooting prevented them from pulling off the upset. Championship: (1) Charleston Southern 71, (2) Wofford 49 C Jacques Evans has 17 pts and 6 rebounds to lead the Bucs to their 4th highest point total during this dynasty. The Bucs took twice as many shots as Wofford (54-27) as they easily take another title.

Summit League
1st round: (1) Portland State 85, (8) IUPUI 75 The Vikings get 24 pts from Charles Price and survive a hot shooting night from IUPUI to move on to the 2nd round. They hit 32 of 35 free throws. Semifinals: (4) Western Illinois 85, (1) Portland State 68 Freshman Glenn Davis put up 27 points in a valiant effort, but the key to this game is Vikings star Charles Price getting into early foul trouble and only playing 9 minutes. The Vikings were unable to recover without him and fail to make the NCAA tourney once again.

Sun Belt Tournament
Semifinals: (1) Kennesaw State 104, (5) Troy 57 The Owls just absolutely destroy Troy in humiliating fashion. It was 53-22 after the first half. Championship: (1) Kennesaw State 89, (2) Arkansas Little Rock 51 The Owls get revenge for that late regular season blowout loss by hitting 17 of 33 3-pointers and erasing almost all doubt by taking a 49-24 halftime lead.

NCAA Tournament - Play-in Round
West Region (13a) Lamar vs. (13b) NC State The Wolfpack came back from an early 8 pt deficit to tie it at the half. However, Lamar began to pull away again in the 2nd half due to precise shooting (.517) and ability to get to the line (37 free throw attempts). Two Wolfpack starters fouled out, costing them down the stretch. Code:

Midwest Region (7) Prairie View A&M vs. (10) Ohio State In a defensive struggle, the Panthers had trouble fending off a tough Buckeyes squad. An awful 4-21 from 3 pt range threatened to doom them, but they wre able to force their way to the free throw line 29 times and came away with some key blocks down the stretch. Code:

East Region (4) Hartford vs. (13) Iona Hartford takes an 8 pt lead in the 1st half, but sloppy play allows Iona back into in the 2nd half. Iona got 39 pts from their bench to help them close the gap, but they starting PG and SG fouled out, hurting them in the final minutes and allowing the Hawks to advance. Code:

NCAA Tournament - 1st Round
East Region (5) Charleston Southern vs. (12) George Washington GWU played tough... for the first half. It was only a 30-28 deficit at that point. However, the Bucs defense was too strong, and forced GWU into 20 turnovers, limiting the GWU offense to 14 pts in the 2nd half. This victory for Charleston Southern sets up a showdown with fellow FOFC team Hartford in the 2nd round. Code:

West Region (13) Lamar vs. (4) UCLA Lamar played a spirited offensive game, putting up 44 pts in the 1st half to stay within 4 pts. Their undoing was a poor defensive effort and a horrendous night at the free throw line (13 for 25) that cost them crucial points at the end. Code:

Midwest Region (7) Prairie View A&M vs. (2) Creighton The Panthers had a cold shooting night (.327) and fell behind by 16 pts in the 1st half. They played much better in the 2nd half, but the whole they put themselves in was too deep to overcome. Code:

NCAA Tourney - 2nd Round
South Region (11) Kennesaw State vs. (3) Oklahoma State The Owls had one of their best three point shooting games of the season (20 for 34), and put up a stunning 59 pts in the 1st half. However, Oklahoma State matched them with a powerful inside game. The 2nd half pace slowed down a bit, but Oklahoma State prevailed with a narrow victory down the stretch (sadly, I don't have the game log for this one for some reason). The Owls' undoing was their defense and 14 missed free throws. Code:

NCAA Tournament - 2nd Round
East Region (4) Hartford vs. (5) Charleston Southern An all-FOFC matchup in the 2nd round, and a matchup between the best offense in the nation and the best defense in the nation. In the past, opponents have tried to play a fast paced offense to try and take the Bucs out of their game. Hartford was sure to try the same. Because of this, Charleston Southern put together their highest point total in any single game since this dynasty began. However, Hartford managed to score 61 points... in the 1st half. The best offense clearly won out here, as the Hawks shot a stunning .712 from the field and beat the Bucs in almost every facet of the game. Code:

NCAA Tourney - Sweet 16
East Region (4) Hartford vs. (1) Villanova The best offense in the nation has another terrific game, shooting .597 from the field and hitting 10 of 19 3 pointers. A terrific Nova team stays in it by playing very tough inside, with C Reid Hills coming up with 28 pts and 10 rebounds. However, Hartford's backcourt dominated, led by Waldon's 32 pts and 9 assists, and Nova missed 11 of 14 3-pt attempts. Code:

NCAA Tournament - Elite Eight
East Region (4) Hartford vs. (3) Virginia Hartford's issues with defending the post were still evident in this game, as the Cavs got 66 combined pts from their C, PF, and SF. However, the Hawks backcourt is dominant once again, particularly Wallace Nelson, who goes off for 40 pts , 8 assists, and 6 rebounds to lead them to another high scoring victory and a trip to the Final Four! NCAA Tournament - Final Four
(4) Hartford vs. (11) Stanford The Hawks got to face a #11 seed in the Final 4, but Stanford wasn't going to make it easy. In this wild game, which saw a combined 51 turnovers, Stanford got great play off the bench to help them stay close throughout. However, the Hawks backcourt was dominant once again, with Waldon and Nelson combining for 61 pts to help stave off a feisty Cardinal squad. Code:

NCAA Tournament - Championship
(4) Hartford vs. (3) Oklahoma State Hartford's inability to defend the post haunted them here, as OK State PF Conrad Landers had 36 pts and 16 rebounds. Still, a balanced attack kept things close, with 7 Hawks players hitting double digits. The key to this game came in the final minutes when PG Emery Waldon, one of the heroes of this tournament, fouled out, along with starting SF Huebner. Without two starters, Hartford was unable to convert down the stretch and Oklahoma State pulled away for the national title. Code:
