Glad to hear that. Seems like GM Keim was not drinking during this draft and got some quality players. We'll see how they do if they ever get on the field again.

Only 6 teams had at least one player drafted in the 1st, 2nd and 3rd rounds; LSU, Alabama, Ohio St., Oklahoma, Florida and Iowa.
Pretty impressive group that Iowa is apart of.

Players I'm watching, and hoping my favorite teams select, in day three:
T, Auburn - Prince Tega Wanogho C/G, Wisc - C/G Taylor Biadasz WR, Wisc - Quintez Cephus WR, Liberty Bibberty - Antonio Gandy-Golden S, Iowa - Geno Stone OL, LSU - Saddiq Charles DT, Utah - Leki Fotu RB, Maryland - Anthony McFarland (also, MD RB Javon Leake as a KR/ST with serious pure speed) C, Washington - Nick Harris TE, Missouri - Albert Okwuegbunam Edge, Syracuse - Kendall Coleman DB, Utah - Javelin Guidry (great name, but also great pure speed) CB, Ga State - Kindle Vildor LB, Wake Forest - Justin Strnad RB, BYU - Ty'Son Williams ...and I think my favorite late-round pet of this draft, lightning-fast CB/KR Isaiah Rodgers from UMass. Didn't even get a combine invite, he's in the books as "too small" but the kid can fly, has guts, and plays tough. I soooooo want there to be room in the NFL for a dude like this. He actually reeks of late-round Patriots pick, and I'd be okay with that, even as a hater. I ran a zillion mock drafts leading up to this weekend, and eventually started running them for only 3-4 rounds, because my day three was just variations on themes including these guys. I also was mock-grabbing RB/WR Antonio Gibson, TE Devin Asiasi, and RB Darrynton Evans in the late rounds, but they are gone in round three in the real thing. I'm surprised to see Davis-Gaither there, the LB from App State. Seems like he's the kind of undersized small school guy that nobody can bring them to draft until the last couple of rounds because there are sexier players on the board, and ends up having a very productive career.

Agreed, he's major value now. CB Bryce Hall from UVa also... big injury and he's (presumably) suffering from being unable to get out and demonstrate he has recovered. He was, I'd say, a top-50 talent prior to his injury. Not a guy for every NFL scheme, but with pick 100-and-something, definitely worth it, especially to a team like Miami who have picks to burn here. |

Cinti is having a lovely please-the-pundits draft. The are sticking close to the consensus, and are going to get much love as "winning" the draft. Had they taken OT Josh Jones in round 3, that would have sealed it, I don't know what teams had against that guy, but it was very weird hearing he was the guy Miami was "supposed to take" at 1.18 to max out the value (they took a different OT)... and then watch the dude slip multiple picks deep into round three.
Actually, Arizona also having that sort of draft that will get a very high mark from the consensus POV this year. |

reports in that the 49ers are dealing for T Trent Williams... presumably his price just plunged...
SF will have to do some moving of their own (Goodwin, for sure) to clear the cap space, but wow that team is going to look loaded for this season... |

I am being proved right that Jacob Eason should have come back for a senior year. Big arm but poor decision making. He would have benefited from his senior season.

Denver getting faster. Trying to keep up with the Chiefs. The only difference is that I doubt Drew Lock would even sniff Mahomes jock strap. But a vertical game may just be up Locks alley.
Hammer in the middle and set up a little PA vertical. Could work.

Colts are an interesting landing place for Eaton. You've got Rivers who will play a couple years and Brissett who is an elite backup/borderline starter, plus Chad Kelly who is the enigmatic development guy.
I guess Eason is less of a problem child and has slightly more upside than Kelly, but you'd have thought he'd have gone somewhere where he has a clearer path to being active during games. |

I'm no QB judge but Eason has good upside for a 4th round pick and has a chance to learn under a veteran QB.
So as a Colts fan I'm not complaining about the pick (yet).

A 5th round pick for Matt Breida seems good value for Miami

A lot of teams thought highly of Brissett before this season. All the Colts need are one or two of them to think that this season was an abberation. |

I really think Brissett is underrated. He did start the season 5-2 including beating the Chiefs. However pretty much all the receivers and tight ends got injured during the season which left him no one to throw the ball to. He may not carry a team but he is a serviceable QB IMO

I'm a Miami fan. but don't know much (stroke anything) about college football. I'm reading all three of the OL Dolphins have drafted are raw - is the consensus that Tua redshirts for the first year, which will also allow the OL rookies to develop, or are we looking at day 1 starters here?

Somewhere in the middle. T Jackson is very young, and the set are indeed raw, but Miami has the "luxury" of having mostly garbage return from last year's roster. So, they honestly had 2-3 starting jobs just sitting there ready to go. If they got a full offseason (total unknown) I'd think they mostly just toss the kids out there, assuming they're on track. It's not like the Dolphins are building to suddenly blow up as a top contender right away. They're responsibly building. Basically same story for their late 1st round CB, another "raw" guy with high upside. This does not seem like a random outcome. |

Always amazing to see fan boards go apeshit over third-day picks. People really have a distorted view of the career of the median late-round pick.

Yeah, because there are only @100 first and second day picks a year. There are plenty of players, but few of them are important.

Now this is a pretty small sample size, but other things I've read paint the same picture, a lot of turnover with the vast majority just around replacement level.

Explain signing Winston and then throwing 10.5m per at Hill. If the Saints want a QB of the future, Winston is 3.5 years younger than Hill. Hill can’t possibly be worth that much money for 7ish offensive plays a game.

Solid draft for the Patriots. The Safety is more of a Chung replacement than a McCourty one, but both are 30+ and we can always fit more quality DB's in somewhere, added two EDGE/LB's who will probably go right into the rotation, (finally!) added 2 TE's - I really like the Virginia Tech kid as the move TE we haven't had since Aaron Hernandez - then added a kicker & some interior OL for depth & to protect against Andrews not returning at 100% or if they want to move on from Thuney after the season. Every pundit seems to be hung up on the Patriots not taking a QB, but especially after the 3 who went top 6 I'd take Jarrett Stidham over any of them at this point, especially with the shortened offseason. A WR would've been sexy, but we basically have one in Harry who redshirted last year, and they did pick up a couple intriguing potential slot WR UDFA's. (I also somehow missed the Marqise Lee signing. Surprising timing for the Jaguars to release him, but if he can come back healthy he's a solid #3/4 WR.) |

Why NFL teams are reportedly furious about Tom Brady's trespassing incident

That's just a weird story. Brady is (apparently) not supposed to visit Leftwich. But he goes to visit Leftwich. But then he gets the wrong house? Does Byron Leftwich not have an address? Did he tell Brady his general neighborhood and figure that Brady could figure the rest out? What did they have to talk about that they couldn't talk about over Zoom? Weird story. |

Sean Payton's obsession with Taysom Hill has to be one of the stranger roster-level things going on in the NFL. Is there any way in hell he gets close to 2 years $21 mil on the open market?

Quite possibly. There seemed to be a decent part of the media (and Hill himself) that thought some team would try to make him their Quarterback, in which case 2/$21 is actually low. Now I think any team would be dumb to do that, but 2/$21 for him is better than 3/$75 for Mike Glennon or 4/$88 for Nick Foles...

As a Saints fan, I keep thinking that this is a long con designed to get some team to trade significant assets for Hill. But the longer this goes on, the more I think I am just wrong about that and Payton sees him as a possible QB in this league. |

Yeah I don't buy a 30 year old that's thrown 13 regular season passes in his NFL career getting that kind of money as a QB. Foles and Glennon had at least shown some level of success under center when they got their contracts. Payton doesn't even trust Hill enough to be their backup since they're targeting Jameis to replace Bridgewater. It's essentially $10 mil per for a backup TE/H-Back. It seems like he's a toy Payton doesn't want anyone else to play with. |

Even if you don't see him as a potential QB I don't think it's that bad of an overpay. You figure his versatility to be a 2nd TE/FB/emergency QB/backup return man/special teams defender opens up an extra roster spot or two, plus each of those guys gets paid a couple million per year if you're signing them post rookie deal. |
