Alright, with everything going on in my life I figured I better switch up to eating healthy, dieting and doing a little working out...If I don't, I will loose myself into food.

My goal...185 by December...thats 2 pounds a week.

My biggest weakness as we all know is Soda...I have done well today, which is the first day, water and diet green tea drinks...the one soda I did have was diet coke and I only drank 1/2 of it..

Now I am used to snacking at night time and it is killing me right now to not snack..MUST BE STRONG!

Height: 5'10"
Current Weight: 225
Target Weight: 185

I know I can get to the weight, I was there in 08.

I missed 1 song and forgot to turn on my watch for the other so I'm estimating that's how many calories I burned. My mind was at home (with my parents) so I just wasn't into it.

I've been working out really hard for the past 3 weeks and I think working out 6 days a week might be a bit much on my body. This week I'm gonna scale it down to 5 and double up on a couple of days and go from there. Ant recommends I workout 4 days a week and double up everyday if I want. I'll have to look at the class schedule and work something out. I keep saying this but I have to incorporate other things into my workouts, Body Combat and Zumba all the time is probably not gonna cut it. They're introducing a BodyVibe class in a few weeks so I'll check that out. I noticed from a video that's they use those balls and resistance bands... we'll see.

Checking in at 5'10" and 230 lbs as of today. Though I'm hoping to get down to 200 by years end (my body type sustains that much better than 185).

Just going to eat healthy, small portions, and continue to stay active. Getting exercise isn't much a problem for me, it's the food! I'll probably update once every few days! Good luck to you guys as well!

Today..I was able to keep the calories low, but I know my fat was high...I need to work on the triangle for health...Only 147 calories over before I started my Ab Rollers.

The snacking isn't as bad, but drinking as much water as I have....wow, restroom time!

I have been hovering around 2200 calories both days so far, which is about where I want to be. My fat intake is a bit on the high side. I just need to make some adjustments to some of the foods.

Tomorrow is my last day on Phase 1 of South Beach and so far I've lost 7.2 lbs. Not too shabby. My knee sorta buckled on me in Zumba and I scaled back a bit. I love today's Body Combat instructor, she's puts a lot of enthusiasm in every class. She noticed I was dying and she says (with mic on), "Come on Lorena... PUNCH!!" I don't have a problem getting called out, I love it. It really pushes me to keep going. I told her she was killing me and she said, "I'm not killing you, I'm making you stronger." She's great.

I can't embed this video, but track 7 is my favorite. Surprise, it's heavy metal. My favorite is at 4:57 (punch them while they're down!):

Welp, Phase 1 is over and I lost 6.6 lbs. in 2 weeks. I've no idea how I went up half a pound when I burned almost 1300 calories doing aerobic exercise and got on a stationary bike later on for an hour. I didn't eat bread, sugar, or anything unhealthy. I seriously wonder wtf is going on sometimes. I haven't been eating salad with my salad dressing, I don't eat sweets, nothing fried... what.the.eff?

Workout-wise, I'm getting frustrated because I feel limited in what I can and can't do. I'm gonna have to look at the schedule at the Y and completely avoid Body Combat and Zumba for a week and see if my knee gets better. I thought Zumba went ok today, but I wasn't feeling it. I seemed to have pulled something around my foot so that doesn't help. Thinking weights, stationary bike, pilates and yoga next week.

You're weight can vary by several pounds based on how hydrated you are, how much food is in you, the weight of the food that's in you, etc. You didn't gain a half pound of fat in a day. That 0.5 pounds was just the difference in the amount of water in your body and the weight of the food in your digestive system from when you weighed yourself the previous day.

1 liter of water = ~2.2 pounds. There's ~33.8 fl oz in a liter and a bottle of water is 8 fl oz (that ones I drink, anyway). That's roughly 0.5 pounds per bottle of water. Maybe you just drank more water than yesterday, and there's your 0.5 pounds.

Your weight is going to go up some days and down the others. As long as the trend is going down, you're doing great.

Feeling sore from Pilates. Today is the first day of Phase 2 of the South Beach Diet. I'll be on this phase for a long time until I get down to my goal weight of 120-130 lbs.. I have a long way to go -- at least 61 lbs.

I have a lot of weight to lose and not a lot of time to lose it in. Losing weight while dealing with depression just sucks. I credit Nutrisystem (when I stuck to it) for not gaining weight during my little hiatus.

Feeling sore after 2 morning classes. Body Pump ran into Zumba so it was cut short by about 15 minutes. I complained about it. Body Pump is from 8:30-9:30, but everyone has to put their equipment away and by the time the gym is cleared out, 10-15 minutes passed. As they work on the upcoming schedule they should really keep that in mind. It's not fair to those looking to workout for 60 minutes and they get jipped 15 minutes.

Next week - no Zumba or Body Combat!! Wow, that's gonna be different, I've been doing it for about 6 weeks, being without is gonna be strange. I'm recruiting some friends to join me for yoga and pilates.

I've been about as committed to my diet as I have to updating here...with that said, I'm still down a few pounds through eating healthier meals and staying active. Portion control remains my biggest issue, but I've been good at telling myself not to snack just for the sake of snacking.

Goal: 200.0 lbs
Current Weight: 227.0 lbs
Down: 3.0 lbs

Its been a while and I've maintained. Still doing Body Combat and Zumba faithfully but not like I have in the past (darn these knees). I have incorporated Pilates and Yoga and starting next week, I'm adding BodyVibe to the list. BodyVibe is basically resistance bands and a ball. They say it's light intensity so I'll probably triple up on some days. I'm very much looking forward to it!

Antmeister talked about starting a Couch to 10k program and I'm seriously considering joining him. The last time I tried it I stopped because it was too damn hard. I am now 16.4 lbs. lighter than the beginning of this year and wanna see how far I make it.

damn keep hitting submit without finishing my thought. I think I'm in much better shape than when I started the Couch to 5k program. I'm fairly confident in finishing the program. I'm just a little worried about my knees though. Anyone have any knee strenghtening exercises or stretches that can help me?

Signed up for a class called Y10X which is a spinoff of P90X. It's supposed to be hardcore so I'm a little nervous.

Zumba went well. Tomorrow I'm doubling up on Zumba and BodyCombat.

I've been on a diet/exercise plan for the last several months since I started seriously contemplating divorce. I decided to start tracking my progress here as well as other places.

I was 260 when I started and was embarrassed about my weight. Over the last 3 months, I've worked my way up from 8 miles/day on the bike to 22-25 miles per day 5-6 days a week, burning at least 1000 calories each session. The weight loss has accelerated as a result and I'm now 5'8 220. My initial goal was 165, but a lot of people have convinced me on my frame 180 may be a better goal. Anyway, I'm about halfway there and feeling much healthier and better about my appearance.

Edit to add: Other than exercise, I'm just limiting calories. 1200 or less per day is my goal. Most days I hit that goal.

I usuallu burn a bunch of calories for BodyCombat but I was seriously exhausted after Zumba. Too much junkfood for the past few days cuz of my kid's bday.

I'm off tomorrow but planning on tripling up on Monday. We'll see how it goes.

Weds have been my official weigh in day:

Weight - 219
Goal - 165-180
Exercise - 22-24 miles on the bike 5 days this past week.

Most exciting moment of the week: I went shopping for jeans the other day. Down from a 46 waist to a 40 waist that fits very comfortably

Been weighing myself every day and putting it into a spreadsheet (along with the other stats my scale tells me.)

I can't really say I've done much. 15 days I have recorded on my spreadsheet (since Sept 1st). I've worked out on 9 days (need that to be, well, 15 days not 9) and I've hit my food goal on only 3 days (lol). My food goal is simple - don't eat a lot at night. Easier said than done since I'm an insomniac and being up til 4am is routine, up to 6 am happens, and more than once a month I got without sleep or very little sleep (30-60 minutes). That's a lot of awake hours. I know why getting 8 hours of sleep at night is good for weight lose, now if my body and mind would just fricken' sleep!

I don't count calories or follow any plan, but when I was able to lose weight last year, I simply did my best to only eat a few pieces of fruit at night, or a bowl of cereal and a piece of fruit, or a cup of yogurt, etc. I lost seven pounds (240 to 233) in one month last year by exercising most days and just watching what I ate at night, only to put it all back on and then some.

I eat a lot. I know I don't need a plan or to count calories. I just need to stop eating a lot. And I need to exercise more. It really is so simple....like most things in my life, even to just get the simple things done I have to keep telling myself "Just fucking do it already! It'll get done if you just fucking do it! Why are you not doing it!?!?"

On Sept 1st, I weighed 247.4 (personal record!). I don't know what my goal is. Whatever looks good when I get there, but I suspect I'm looking at trying to get to around 200. I'm 5'10" with a decent amount of muscle on me, I just have a more than decent amount of fat on top of it.

1st Week Averages
Weight: 246.2
Body Fat %: 37.34%
Muscle %: 29.31%
Resting Metabolism: 2165.4
Visceral Fat: 16.4 (on a scale of 1-20....20 being bad)

2nd Week Averages
Weight: 245.8 (-0.4)
Body Fat%: 36.87% (-0.47%)
Muscle %: 29.59% (+0.18%)
Resting Metabolism: 2164.9 (-0.6)
Visceral Fat: 16.0 (-0.4)

(I have no idea the accuracy of those other stats - or even weight really - they are just the numbers my scale spits out at me)

All moving in the right direction, but all small changes. Need to actually...you know....do something.

Monday I went to BodyVibe and loved it! I burned 610 calories or so. Wednesday I went to Body Combat and burned 798 calories.. go me! Went back for BodyVibe in the evening. A friend of mine asked how I'm able to exercise 2 hours a day, she has a hard time. It might have something to do with training for the 5K. I've noticed that my endurance is way higher than it was before the program.

Today is my day off. Tomorrow Ant and I are going to a class called Y10X which is a spinoff of P90X. I'm both looking forward to it and dreading it, it's supposed to be high intensity, we'll see how it goes!

Okay - well as my Facebook feed noted, yesterday was my first day back at the gym. Need to lose a bunch of weight (as I knew, but then discovered how much). I know from my Weight Watchers days how I have to eat and such in order to get it done at a rate of about 2lbs/week which is about the maximum they say you should try to lose at a sustained pace.

Honestly, if we get a huge payday at the end of the year I may just opt to lipo a ton of it off though, after what I saw yesterday when I stepped on the scale.

My apartment still has a bunch of not-so-good food in it. So I've got to get rid of that - replace my ice cream with sugar-free, fat-free instant pudding mainly.

And I have a big box of Goldfish - but man I love those fucking things.

Starting my workout regime with 30 minutes (2 miles, 300 calories) on the elliptical. Obviously that's going to increase substantially in both intensity & time as things continue, but I need to start it off at a manageable level so that I keep at it.

Similar to sabotai 2 posts above - I eat a lot. And I stay up real late, so I eat a lot late at night when it doesn't get burned off. Just need to transition that to healthier things. I don't eat horribly at dinner, and I always make sure to have plenty of veggies (huge bowl of broccoli or green beans or carrots), along with some protien (chicken, shrimp, occasionally a hamburger) and starch (pasta, bread). It's shrinking my stomach down so I don't need to eat as much late at night, and also exercise.

I'll beat sabotai. Stepped on the scale at the gym yesterday.

Weight: 262lbs
Goal: 200-209 pounds initially. Eventually I'd like to be sub-190, but the last time I was down at that level was the summer before college and I don't know that it's sustainable for me.
Exercise Goal: Initially - 2 miles in 30 minutes everday. Increasing in intensity and time once I establish the routine.

Rationalizations for not going to the gym are not accepted (unless there are extenuating circumstances that make it impossible). If I attempt to rationalize at all, please give me hell for it.

Dude - that's awesome. You're giving me tears in my eyes and faith that I can do it too!! I'm up there at 260 now and need to be down in the 190 range myself. Maybe I ought to consider bike vs. elliptical.

Congrats to you for your progress so far!!!

Sorry to hear you're contemplating divorce though.

sab and DT - yup, thats my downfall too.

DT congrats on starting up at the gym. I have a suggestion if u don't mind: u might wanna start off slow so u don't burn out. When I first started i was super excited. Went 5-6 times a week and sometimes 2 hours a day. I tried to keep up with a friend of mine that's like 101 lbs. and I ended up burned out with pain in my knees. If you're planning on 5-6 days a week, just be careful.

Love suggestions DC.

Yep - I'm starting off decently slow I guess. 30 minutes on the elliptical...bout 330 calories burned. Eventually of course I've got to be like EF27 and get that up closer to 1000 calories burned, but it's a decent start.

So far at least, elliptical doesn't seem to be really pain-inducing or "aching body parts inducing." So that's a plus. I guess if it starts to be I'll swap over to a stationary bike.

I've already been trying to cut back on late-night snacking - two nights ago I had a bowl of broccoli at that point. Gonna hit the store up after work and grab fruits for smoothies to fill my sweet-tooth craving.

Carrots are a great late night snack I find. Very crunchy and satisfying, and they take a while to chew. Celary is the same way. It's not as much fun as ice cream, or goldfish, or pb & graham crackers, but what can ya do.

Smoothies tend to fill me up for HOURS. I had one at the mall last weekend and it literally filled me up for like 8 hours. So I have a feeling that will be helpful.

Day 2 at the gym...feelin fine.

Big props to sabotai for the info about the scale - ordered one of my own.

2 day shipping on amazon...be here Tuesday (along with S.M. Stirling's new book in the Change series...fuck yeah!). Thought about getting it all tomorrow, but saving $25 seemed like a good idea.

Thanks. I started working out when it was in the contemplation phase. It is a done deal now. Marriage has been bad for well over 1 year, actually over 2. I tried to save things, but only so much 1 person can do. I'm happy now though and moving on with life. Actually, going on my first first date in 14 years in a little bit. But, I didn't mean to digress this thread.

Aaaah no worries.

Don't recall reading about that in the OT forum...maybe I missed it or you didn't mention it there much or something. Or maybe I just forget.

Well done on the weight loss! I've lost 40lbs before, so I know I can lose 60 this time given enough time. It's always been the "keeping it off" that's tough for me.

You didn't miss it. First time I've mentioned it on this board. Anyway, yeah, the keeping it off is going to be tough, but I'm determined to do it, and I'm sure you can with determination as well. I ate well above my target goal tonight, but I'll work out extra hard tomorrow and go for 26 miles for the first time on the bike.

I was far off the diet last night (but had a great time!), so I did 26 miles for the first time today. It took me just over 80 minutes. I averaged 20 mph during the heart of the workout with a slower warmup and cool down period at the beginning and the end. Watched an episode of Dr. Who and some of the Georgia-Arkansas game while doing it. Burnt about 1200 calories according to the bike.

Aaaah. It'd be cool if I had a bike here in my apartment. LOL.

Hey...you can be far off the diet for one meal...you just have to compensate at other meals and via workout.

The week I lost the most weight ever...was also the week I went to a chocolate buffet. True story.

What have i eaten today: 2 pieces of pizza...approx 300 calories worth of breakfast (instant oatmeal and an english muffin), the aforementioned smoothie (which i didn't calorie-count), and right now i'm nibbling on some broccoli i cooked the other day.

smoothies really fill me up. the one i had at about 2pm made me not hungry until like...9pm.

operation "shrink stomach" is proceeding as planned.

Something I've found that really fills me up is granola cereal. A bowl of that and I'm good for several hours. My favorite is Cherry Vanilla Granola cereal from Wild Harvest.

I wanted to link to it, but it's not on their website....when I bought it Friday, there weren't many boxes left......and now I'm wondering if they are taking it off the market.....they fucking better not!!

Blueberry Flax and Crunchy Vanilla are the other two I like. I also really like Dark Chocolate Almond granola from Cascadian Farms. (Though they can be hard to chew sometimes at first. I've gotten used to them.)

They are 240 calories for 3/4ths a cup (the Dark Chocolate one is 210), so I think that's a bit high (I should measure it a few times to see how much I'm really eating), but they fill me up and keep "The Hunger" away for a good amount of time. It's better than the junk food that just seems to feed "The Hunger" rather than keep it at bay. "The Hunger" goes away when I feed it junk food, but it comes back quickly and far more powerful than before.

granola is good...a bit calorically high from what i remember in my last go-round. but you can always toss a lil in a smoothie or something, or just moderate your intake. i almost picked some up the other day actually.

my 300 calorie breakfast is what i've been having the last couple months and it fills me up from 8am to 1 or 2pm, even if i have a workout now.

microwave popcorn isn't bad either - as long as you get the more plainish stuff and not the ones loaded up with fake butter and all. it definitely fills you up, and you can get ones that are not bad for you.

fat-free sugar-free instant pudding is my massive sweet-tooth filler though. damn good. picked up a half dozen boxes of that and jello the other day.

Friday Ant and I went to the Y10X class. It was super intense. We started off jogging followed by shuffling to the sides, then sideways jumping squats, jogging in place with high knees, pushups, plank, planks while lifting weights, sideways planks, different kinds of crunches, stepping off those stepping thingies, weights... omg it was a lot and it went fast, the class was mostly a blur. I was really proud that I was able to finish the class. I was really sore and still am now! I liked it so much I signed up to a 6 week course. Its only one time a week so I will do that class and two more for the week.
