I had to get one for myself. Along with the Scurvy t-shirt.

Unfortunately I couldn't stay up to 1 AM EST to get the Survival Kit shirt. Oh well... hopefully it'll come up for $15 on their Top 25 list.

Well, I did my part and got the Boston Acoustics Bookshelf Speakers for $70. Our existing speakers are old and crappy, so hopefully this should be an upgrade at half the cost of retail.

BTW, anyone know where to get good speaker cable? I should probably replace that as well.

If I knew you were ordering, I'd have gotten one for you as thanks.

I also ordered the 2-D Space Invaders shirt and that *sweet* Day of the Dead shirt.

That 2-D Space Invaders shirt looked fun. Also I liked the Zombie Hunting one .

I also want them to re-release the Genghis Khan one. Maybe next Day of Reckoning .

Monoprice.com generally has good stuff for less money.

Don't know anything about the speakers - too bad, could use a decent surround sound set.

I wonder if the wife would notice $1600 missing from the house fund (or the huge new TV in the living room)?

1600:1 dynamic contrast ratio.

I have a smaller Olevia, but I would never buy one that large without at least seeing it first. A 50" Panasonic plasma is going to trump picture quality on this guy all day all night. For the same price.

Yeah, thats really not a great price. My dad just bought a 46" samsung 4661f (IIRC) for like $1400 from best buy. Much better TV. I only paid like $800 for my 42" Vizio, and its still a better TV than that Olevia

I'm not sure you did remember that correctly. That TV is on sale for $1,850 + tax at Best Buy. Methinks you're off by $500+ on the price. I'm sure it's a good TV, but it's nowhere near $1,400.

He bought it the week after xmas, when it was, in fact, $1400 at Best Buy (or Circuit City), and a couple of other places.

Yeah, there were some pretty sweet deals at that point. I have nowhere near the money my dad has, so I bought a Vizio GV42LF (1080p,42") for like $800 from sears.

Prices have come back up, but they'll be rolling out new lines in the next couple months, and things will go back down.

a 47" toshiba hl167 was 1499 last week at sears, plus there was another 100 dollar rebate you could get w/ sears card. Much better TV most likely, though not as good as samsung.

Quite clearly an April Fools Woot-Off though.. everything is a Black & Decker battery (though I think there was one BoC lodged in the middle).

I typically will give refurbs or recerts a try. But a hard drive? Who the hell would risk that?

At most it might not be a bad idea if you were going to enclose it and use it as a portable or something. I guess then the 750 gig for 69 bucks aint too bad.

man, this is freaking hilarious. Something i saw on the consumerist.

IPods: Woot Customer Demands Non-Existent Black iPod Headphones

Quote:
In what is probably the second-worst consumer complaint we've received, Millard is mad at deal-a-day site Woot because he bought a black iPod from them and it came with white headphones. He demands black headphones. Woot needs your help in solving this consumer crisis....

Natural selection is not working apparently.

I haven't bought anything from woot in a couple years... Still, I had to laugh at their way of saying "Come buy some crap tonight!"

Attention Woot employees -

We are now entering the final phase of preparations for the Woot-Off planned for midnight tonight. This is when we depart from our usual deal-a-day model and sell one product after another, offering a new deal as soon as the previous one sells out. For some reason, Woot members like jtf1972 continue to have high expectations for this event. We must make every effort to ensure that they feel disappointed and betrayed.

All workers should be physically and mentally straining to make this Woot-Off a success, like every muscle in a wolf's body strains to capture and devour its prey. We expect total compliance with the following objectives:

* Make sure the stables are thoroughly cleaned and the horses properly groomed and shod. As you know, Commander Rutledge prefers to lead us on horseback during Woot-Offs. Charge!
* Customer Service department: all vacation requests for this week and next are approved. If you have not filed a vacation request, take one anyway.
* The little green pills in the kitchen are there to keep you alert and working. Take as many as you need. Officially, Woot does not believe in the concept of "overdose".
* Take at least one of our servers offline, just for laughs.
* Go to the landfill and dig up some more Sansa media players. If you see any Digipro Graphics Tablets (and you will), grab those, too.
* Place crap bags in company latrines so those orders can be "filled". To this end, the company will provide free lunch today from El Feo, the filthiest burrito joint in Dallas. Do your worst, guys.
* Neutralize all negative thinking among our members. We simply cannot tolerate any more posts like "do not want" or "Woot-Off killer". If electronic means like word filters and IP bans do not work, we must reactivate the rapid-response teams to physically eliminate all threats to our reputation.
* Last time, spot checks revealed that approximately 25% of products shipped are broken, incomplete, or excessively dirty. This is unacceptable. For this Woot-Off, defective shipments must make up at least 40%.
* Remind SmartPost that there's no need to hurry on these orders. Prompt delivery makes our customers spoiled and argumentative. Let them learn humility and gratitude while they wait.

Above all, we must strive to make this Woot-Off even more tedious, disappointing, and lucrative than the last one. The employee who achieves the most toward this end will be rewarded with one brown Zune. Second place: two brown Zunes.

Forward into battle! Remember: to give one's life for Woot is glorious!

Incorrect. The Blu-ray player listed is a 1.1 player.

Honestly, unless your a geek about the special features, profile 1.1 players should work just fine for you. The only thing you won't get is 'Live'.
