Event 9 – Javelin – First Attempt
Path – looking to make his move up the board, hoping for a big result here…the strange Russian starts the event off…he’s heading down the runway, plants and launches…it’s a perfect angle…the throw is sailing, sailing, sailing…this is going to be huge….it sticks and it’s measured at 275 Feet…This is the top result in the average column…in fact there are only 2 rolls better in allout – a 293 on the 29 which is rare and a 284 on the 13 which is even rarer Rambis – the hamstring appears to be bothering Rambis right now…he’s not got the spring in his step we normally see in this event…he make a good pass and ends up with a toss of 179 feet…I’d say given the injury that’s about average for him. This result is about dead middle of the average column Llyw – this is an event where Llyw can do well and maybe climb into the middle of the pack…and he must know it because he uncorks a good one…this one is long…it measures 260 feet. Only 1 result better in the average column a 266 on 15 which is rare, only 4 results better in allout, all are rare results but they include distances of 282, 264, 269, and 275 Schaplowsky – Hoping to continue his strong run, and his move up the leaderboard, Schaplowsky gets too aggressive on his approach to the line and his momentum carries him over for a foul. Nielsen – the athlete currently in bronze medal position takes his turn…he rushes to the line…throws…and bounce across the white line for a foul. He’s also grabbing his ribs – that looks like a pulled muscle to me…yes unfortunately you are injured Peltonen – is also over the line…3rd straight foul Ginsberg – unfortunately, he keeps the string of fouls going… Mighty – his first throw is a pretty good one…as he works hard trying to reverse his momentum to keep from crossing the white line…the throw measures in at 193 feet…probably lost a bit of distance because he had to work so hard to keep from fouling. 10 results are still better in the average column, and only 5 of 12 are worse in allout Chilton – approaches and throws…this is a good one…the toss is going well beyond his typical distance of 195 feet…well beyond…it sticks and is measured at 231 feet. That’s a big throw probably one of his 2 or 3 best throws ever. There are only 2 throws better in allout…a 232 and a 242 both very rare rolls. There is also a 233 in average and it has a decent chance of being rolled. Palmiero – hoping to keep his momentum going, really goes after his first attempt, but his momentum pulls him over the line and he fouls. Babson – looking for a good event, to really provide some cushion heading into the 1500…he makes a very good first attempt…the throw is 212 feet. 5 results better in average and only 5 results are shorter in allout Honcho – his throw is up…and it looks like an instant replay of Babson’s attempt. Same trajectory, same basic speed…and after the measurement – it is the same 212 8 results are still better in the average column, all but 2 results are better in the allout Ketola – misjudges his approach, crosses the throw line and fouls Jordan – does the same thing as Ketola Bafou – this is almost laughable…Bafou really went after his attempt and he didn’t seem to learn from the mistakes of Ketola and Jordan before him…he’s over the foul line too. |

Event 9 – Javelin – Second Attempt
Path – As expected Path passes Rambis – hamstring appeared to bother Rambis in the last throw…this time it brought him to his knees…not sure if it was the actual throw or him trying to stop his momentum so he wouldn’t foul (which he wasn’t able to do)…but whatever it was - he definitely aggravated his injury… Llyw – with a good score to work from…Llyw really goes after this second attempt, and he’s uncorked another good one…it flys way down the field and sticks right at the 260 mark…not sure if it’s an improvement…the measurement say – 259…so close… Schaplowsky – second attempt looks a lot like the first…good throw, but it won’t count as he’s over the foul line. Nielsen – not sure if he was focused on his injury, or his need to fight through the pain to get a good throw in order to hold onto his medal position, but Nielsen crossed the foul line again…he now heads into his final attempt without having a score on record. Peltonen – His second attempt is going to make him happy… Distance measures 231…this will keep Peltonen in the hunt for a medal. 3 results better in average but the best of those 3 is a 235 (which is on a reasonable probability roll). In allout 9 results are still better including several above 250 Ginsberg – he responds to his foul in the first round with a big result in the second. The toss was a very strong 241’. 2 results better in average, a 243 which is rare, and a 262 which is extremely rare, In allout 12 results are still better including 8 over 250’ and 4 of those are over 260’ Mighty – his second attempt isn’t going to challenge the distance of his first…it lands about 10’ shorter…183. Chilton – passes Palmiero – this second throw is going to keep his momentum going…in fact, this throw looks very similar to a couple we’ve had already…distance measures 231 – yep that’s a measurement we’ve heard a couple of times before. top result in the ave column, and only a 236 and a 237 in the allout are better and both are rare probability rolls Babson – after seeing Palmiero and Peltonen uncork big throws…Babson really picked up his efforts…everything looked good, but apparently his increased efforts led to him tightening up on the throw rather than relaxing and getting the good snap at the release so his distance wasn’t as good as his first attempt – 189’ Honcho – takes his second turn and on his release he screams in pain as he must have tweaked whatever he hurt in the pole vault because he collapses in pain…again he is escorted into the locker room for treatment. Also, apparently when he fell to the ground he crossed the white line, so the throw doesn’t count. Ketola – gets one in the grid…at 192 feet…11 results still better in average, and only 5 results shorter in allout Jordan – Wanting to make sure he gets a throw in, he launches the Javelin way before the foul line and costs himself several feet on the distance. In fact, his throw only managed to travel 180’ worest throw in the column Bafou – second attempt is textbook…he seemed to be focused on form or else the throw might have been even longer, but as it was , he’s still on the board at 196’ you hit the second shortest result in the column |

Event 9 – Javelin – Final Attempt
Path – As expected Path passes Rambis – passes Llyw – passes Schaplowsky – a very conservative effort from Schaplowsky will get him on the board. His distance of 196’ is pretty good considering he had to get a clean result. Nielsen – clearly throwing caution to the wind…the Dane charges the line on his throw, refusing to go conservative to insure a score…and it may have paid off…this is a pretty good attempt. It measures at 211’…which under the circumstances is nothing to sneeze at…he’ll lose some ground to the other leaders, but this will keep him in contention for a medal. Peltonen – really goes after his final attempt trying to improve on an already impressive 231’ throw. Unfortunately, he crosses the line and the white flag is raised. Ginsberg – elects not to just sit on his very impressive throw of 241 and instead, is really going after his 3rd and final attempt…and it looks really good early – it has a long way to go…but it has a chance…wow…this throw is well beyond his previous attempt. In fact, I think this one is going to challenge Path’s 275’ effort which leads the event. It is measured and the official distance is 269’ Mighty – throws a good one, but the point didn’t stick, so the throw doesn’t count. Chilton – passes Palmiero – passes Babson – trying to get better than his 212’ result in the first throw, Babson waits late to release to maximize distance and he crosses the foul line. Honcho – his third turn, it’s painfully obvious that Honcho is battling through for pride. He’s clearly not 100%, in fact, his continuing to participate at this point is just a tribute to his toughness. He gets a decent throw off…it lands at 193’ short of his first go around…but no telling how good it might have been if he wasn’t so banged up. Ketola – this one is looking a lot like the last one….in fact, it’s exactly like the last one…192’ Jordan – He’s able to improve on his previous best with his last attempt, recording a throw of 212. Bafou – unable to stay behind the white line on the last attempt leads to another foul |

Event 9 - Javelin - Recap
Winners Path - Big throw absolutely gets him into medal contention with only 1 event remaining Losers Nielsen - was able to stay in contention, but lost ground to Peltonen, Palmiero, Babson and Path while also suffering an injury which will hinder his ability to make a move in the last event. |

Current Standings Overview
With only 1 event remaining, we've got a real battle for all of the medal spots. Palmiero's strong second day has now seen him move into the overall lead, but Babson is only a couple of points behind, and Path has made a serious move. Peltonen is still in play, and Nielsen is typically good at the 1500 so if he can work through the pain of his injury he still might find himself on the podium. The middle of the leaderboard could also see some juggling before all is said and done with 7 competitors falling between 7895 and 8159... Last edited by Breeze : 09-04-2015 at 01:44 PM. |

would love to finish this before the holiday, but even if I could quickly post the card review for each athlete, I doubt the responses would be quick enough to run the event and post the results. So I'll post the breakdown for the 1500 on Tuesday or Wednesday.

Event 10 - 1500 Meters - Preview
Favorites None - Honcho is typically the best at this event, but he's currently dealing with an injury that he just aggrevated, which is going to significantly hinder his performance here. Of the rest of the athletes, Nielsen, is pretty good here, but also dealing with an injury. Bafou and Llyw will be looking to climb, and Path is the lone medal contender that is uninjured and considered good at this event Underdogs Chilton Jordan Ketola |

This event runs like the 400 Meters, in that that race is divided into segments. In this case we have five 300 Meter segments, so I'll need 5 announced effort levels. |
