I'm really not trying to minimize the problem here, but it seems like backing up the universe after the WS ends and instead of using the offseason center, just go to trades and FA through through the menus would be the easy work around on this? I want to continue my career here and I want to make sure i'm not missing anything |

No it's much easier than that. Go to the Offseason Center, right click on the name of the guy you want and hit "offer contract".

The problem I have had is that if I sim when on the off season center I get crashes.
However, I agree with Troy's workaround and have not had any problems.

Yeah, I had some offseason crazyness at first, but bookmarked the pages and now they work fine.. except for the right click and sign issue.

I have a question about forfeiting the DH. Can someone tell me if this is correct or not?
In the bottom of the 8th, my center fielder got injured, and since I did not have any outfielders on the bench (and the CF batted in the top of the 8th) I put my DH into the outfield and forfeited the DH. I assumed that my current pitcher would be slotted into the CF spot (6th) in the lineup, but OOTP would not allow me to exit the substitution screen. The only way I could get out of there was by changing pitcher and slotting him into the batting lineup. Did OOTP get this right, or should I have been allowed to place the pitcher currently in the game into the batting lineup? |

I can't believe Markus has completely vanished from the forum for over a week just after releasing a patch. I realise that there he is on vacation, but at the moment we don't have any kind of clue when any future patch might arrive. |

The game is wrong what you tried to do should be an option. This was another thing I mentioned on that forum earlier this year because this same situation has happened to me a few times with the Twins I like to take over. Start Mauer at DH, pinch hit for the crappy hitter catcher later in the game, and bang I cant removed Mauer from the DH to move him to catcher. Very difficult for some things to get changed over there. Really not sure why. Those of us that like to play out their games and prefer and stable in game AI kind of get the shaft. Before you jump on Markus you ought to try it because it was fixed. The only thing is you have to do it in the right sequence. Use the lineup side of the sub screen and change the players position who you are taking out of the game to the blank "-" then change the DH to that position. Now drag and drop the pitcher to the spot of the player you are taking out and change the "-" to "P". Don't try to put the pitcher in the right side where it says current pitcher, he haas to go in the lineup side. I double checked this a minute ago to make sure it worked and it does. |

I've always loved your work. I did just d/l the NABA offseason no expansion and got the NABA, and it was ready for a fantasy draft.

I'll have to reinstall, I tried the NABA fantasy to see if they were backwards, and it was 1/1/2001, ready for the fantasy draft. So I'm re installing the other.

I think those two are the same file. When I install the NABA offseason, no expansion, it starts on 1/1 as well.

I just downloaded that one to a computer that didn't have OOTP previously installed and got a start on 10/24/2000.

Which two? I'm definitely getting a 10/24 start with "NABA Offseason."

Can someone else try "NABA Offseason?" I'm still getting 10/24.

Hey Ben, I did get it to work after redownloading. I don't know what the hell was going on, but the first time I d/l'd and installed, it installed as a saved game, not as a quickstart. The second time it d/l'd as a quickstart, and when I started it, it seemed to work fine, but no logos showed up. That was real quick last night. Sorry I had to help my kids get to bed, they were a bit restless last night.

This is probably a silly question, but the in-game help doesn't mention it at all. Is there a keybinding section to the settings? I'd love to get my mouse's alternate buttons to work like they do on my web browser, but I can't seem to find a way to do it. Apparently I'm weird and can't handle right click as my "back" button.

So the post-draft email says you have two months for negotiations.
The draft in my solo league was held on June 1, which is the default, and says I have until July 1 to sign my players. Clearly, either the email or the text in the negotiation center is wrong. Which is it? |

Ben - I've tried a couple of the files (multiple times) and I get a problem with the ability to load the World file. I've tried the Fantasy draft (w history) and the expansion file. Not sure what I need to do to fix this.

If I'd bought it for solo play, I'd have done so. I'm, frankly, not interested in buying future versions, but as I spent my $40 on 13 for an online league, I'm not going to cut off my nose to spite my face, no matter how irritated I am. I don't play solo for career purposes. I play it for "figure out how this stuff is going to work when it happens in the online league" purposes. Create a league, sim to something (like the draft), and then delete the solo league once my question is answered. |

As Kerry Wood retires today, it occurred to me that 1) when these things happen to in-game, people howl that the players didn't develop as well as they should've, mostly thanks to our ability to see ratings. Almost makes me want to play a stats only league for solo play, just to see how differently I'd feel about these moves and 2) have folks seen modeling of guys who will go from starter to reliever, etc. I've been able to do it in my own leagues, but it takes a lot of human intervention to make it happen, it's not something I see happening organically.

I think I mean guys who end up in the bullpen because their stuff is crap, not so much a guy who just makes the effective Eck-like transition. Because your guy there is basically Eck with 250+ career wins and 300+ career saves. But I think that owes more to the opportunities he got with the settings in the NABA more than anything else. (e.g. He was throwing a lot relative to what a modern guy would.)

Can't really say Woods stuff was "crap." A shell of what it formally was, but 2nd all-time in Ks/9 isn't bad stuff.

As I mentioned in reviewing my replays shortly after the game was released, I saw guys going from dominant starter to closer and back several times. I don't have a problem with that if there's a storyline to go with it - an injury (ala John Smoltz), or maybe a starter who can never seem to stay healthy enough to pitch more than 160 innings in a year, or who can't go more than 5+ innings/start, etc. Something, anything for me to grab onto. The context is what's missing when I see it happen in the sims.

So in the PCJBL, I found a guy I liked in the free agent pool who wanted a minor league contract. I obliged.
The next sim gets run, I have an email from the player saying "Uh, no. Try again." I thought maybe it was one of those weird and random times when a player's demands just change for some reason and he would now be asking for actual money. Here's what I got greeted with. |

This is really annoying........... I created a fictional league. Then go to each team and select a custom logo that is in my ootp13 folder. Next time I load the game, it recreates logos for all of those teams, and all of the custom ones I chose are gone. Includes hats and jerseys.

I agree. I do get mad when a great prospect doesn't pan out but then I have to think of Wood or Prior. On the other hand, I hated it when you'd have a guy sprain his ankle for a couple weeks and his potentials would drop. Sure if it's an arm problem I get it, but minor injuries like that bothered me. |
