Wait seriously? Damnit, you can't get a 5$ seat to a minor league park here.

I got a $5 ticket to Yankee Stadium a couple of years ago and a $5 ticket to Opening Day in Houston this year (cheapest ones in the park but they were face value plus a couple of Ticketmaster "screw you fee" bucks). But those weren't to playoff games

This could be a really crappy day to be a fan of the teams not in it.

I think the “underdog” favorites are the Reds, Nats, As, and Os and all 4 could be out today.

It’s like having a bunch of scares for top seeds in the opening weekend of the NCAA tourney and none of them falling

Yep, Yankees / Tigers and Cards / Giants will eliminate most of my interest in the postseason.

I like that the "underdogs" all had better records (except the O's, who were one game worse)

Curious why Nats? They have a larger payroll (I have to check this) and won more games than he Cardinals ,who lost Albert frigging Pujols after all. Is it the recent success?

Rather than Cards bashing (Best Fans in Baseball-TM, etc), Washington hasn't been in the playoffs in 70 years so there's a feel good story there.

Don't get me wrong: I think in 2 or 3 short years, they could become Phillies or Red Sox or Rangers II (or future Dodgers or even Cubs) in that they were novel in that they hadn't won for a while. But then they could turn that success into being a large market juggernaut replete with obnoxious bandwagon fans and a huge media market that they can use to their obscene advantage.

For now, tho, they've been bad for a long time while the Cards have been insanely good for a long time now. They haven't had back-to-back complete losing seasons since the 50s- an astonishing streak.

Recent and historical success. They've been in 18 and won 11 of them (yes, PHI/KC/OAK has 9, but none since '89).

Giants/Yankees, Giants/A's or Thermonuclear war are the only valid conclusions to this MLB season.

How many will they leave on base? Man...what a waste of a season. I didn't think they had a team to win but I never imagined them going out this early.

Only Affeldt would get injured by a foul ball into the dugout.

That guy is the definition of freak injuries.

Yanks/Giants would harken back to the old days of baseball. I would like to see that.

Runner up would be Yanks/St. Louis as they are my favorite team and second favorite team. I became a Yankee fan when I watched my first World Series in 1981 at age 8. My great grand mother was a big Dodgers fan, so being the little prick I was, I rooted for the Yankees. I didn't really get into baseball for a few more years, I believe it was 1985 when the Yankees had a great season but just finished a few games out. Then came a decade of shit and then 1996. St. Louis because I moved there for a 3.5 years and just adopted them as my NL team.
