I had the same thing happen a few weeks ago when trying to pay an speeding ticket online. Every time I would hit the submit button, it would say there was an error and I should try again later. I tried it 5 or 6 times that day and never got it to work.

My wife called me later and was like WTF!!!, there are 6 pending charges on your bank account from them, each for the amount of the ticket. That hurt for a couple of days.

The latest are a couple of gas chains that have started placing holds in excess of $100 when you pay at the pump, tying up available credit until the actual charge processes.

While I'm on that subject, Pilot, hell will freeze over before I buy gas from your sorry asses again. A $150 hold for a $48 charge is unacceptable. Thanks to a heads up from my c.c. company Texaco can also kiss my ass, I don't find a $125 hold any more tolerable.

I buy a ton of gasoline, so I'm glad I haven't seen those kinds of holds. I'm guessing that maybe people have been exploiting the 1.00 holds in your area? For example someone who needed money could pump hundreds of gallons of gas with not much money in their account(obviously there is a downfall here).

C.C. company said this level of hold is still pretty new to them, only started about a month or so ago, & specifically mentioned Pilot & Texaco, as well as Shell in only certain states.

In Pilot's case, it apparently made the news in Texas (where it seems to have started with ATM cards).
http://www.connectamarillo.com/news/...2#.Tjr6WGX0smw

Shell made the news in Chicago for it as well

I guess I hadn't seen the sudden surge because probably 80% of our gas is bought at the same station (Murphy's).

I've seen fairly steep holds, but only because my CC started showing them instantaneously online. Until then, I'd never noticed. And really, it doesn't have any effect on my CC use whatsoever. Are you guys using debit cards or something, or just CCs where you're pushing the limit?

I was using my debit card. Money wasn't an issue. I just assumed it was a battle.net issue..

Although 400+ dollars for a couple days that I cant touch for a game I don't have is slightly annoying.

Knowing the punch lines before letterman can say them isn't a big deal one way or the other but after meeting a girl that can make me laugh its not so great being me at times regretting turning down some women. So if you are the type that is satisfied by a hot woman than just be grateful you're not like me.

Dear old guy at the Y, please close the curtain to your shower stall. Those of us looking for an empty shower stall have to pass by your old naked-ness. If you want to let it all hang out, at least take the last stall on the left, not the very first one as you turn the corner. Some of us want to keep our naked old man viewing to less than one a day, but you're like the affirmative action of old naked white guys.

Why would it be illegal? They're only using it to get them out in the open rather than hunting them down in hiding. These stings are used all the time for deadbeat parents and the like so they don't have to go kicking down doors and stuff.

It looks like he was resisting with his arms (keeping them apart so they couldn't be cuffed), and then he shifted his body a little. That one's pretty popular, "I'm not fighting, I'm not fighting!," (as he resists the cuffs and kind of falls into the officer.) He knows that if he gets an elbow or something on the way down he might get a 6 figure settlement from the city. Whatever though, he'll live (and maybe his kids will be able to eat more often now).

Yeah, it's not. I remember watching something awhile back where they did this in D.C. in the 80s offering Redskins tickets. Seems like there was a guy that asked if he would still get his tickets then too.

I put 40 bucks in my car and that should get me to the start of the third week of preseason. Thats at 20 mpg.

Back in HS, I was spending about 50 bucks a week on my gas guzzling V8 350that got about 11 mpg. Of course I was also spending about 2k a year on insurance that was liability only.

My how times have changed.

Is your email address seomthing that could easily be typed in as the result of a typo? IE: [email protected] vs [email protected]?

Saw this a lot when I worked for CCBill. People would call, furious, claiming they did NOT subscribe to porn and want to know HOW THE HELL we got their information. Later we would get a call from someone else, claiming they were never sent their login information, then we would be able to put 2 and 2 together. Fun times. 2 pissed off people, all because one tard mistyped his email address when subscribing.

It potentially is, but not by someone named "zhang." Unless it's my doppleganger-guy (guy who has an email address that's very very similar to mine - so much so that I get email from his parents/roommates/university login credentials/etc. But he's a) older, and b) his name isn't "Zhang" or anything close to that (it's actually the same as mine)).

Oh well. just weird.

Nope. But the guy is pretty interesting. He was apparently the founder of the European-version (or UK version?) of hotels.com. So he's an internet millionaire. He was/is a guest professor at a university in the UK (they accidentally sent me his professorial login credentials), and is now involved in VC, and gets invites to parties (not personal ones, but like he's on the email guest list) for Richard Branson parties and stuff. Actually got an invite to a Playboy-sponsored party a while back.

But he's also a bit of a douche...used to get emails from someone who he apparently rented an apartment in NYC with (I get the sense he wasn't there that often?) who was constantly like "HEY...PAY YOUR HALF OF THE RENT!!"

Interesting shit.

For all the aggravations that some FB users have experienced with the latest "You know you're from Town XYZ if ..." viral explosion, the one from the town you grew up in can be pretty darned entertaining if you get a good group going all at once.

I have to think that the smaller the town, the more fun the posts. Or at least that'd be true up to at least a certain bottom limit so that you have enough people posting that they aren't all related to each other. I suspect the limit on that is about 2 high schools for the area, maybe 3 max. A 1 high school town like my hometown seems nearly perfect for it though, references like an inside joke about a specific principal made sense to at least three generations in the conversation.

With a small enough town, a simple sentence like "Hey Mr. Craig, got a Camel?" was pretty damned funny stuff tonight ... so long as you knew that the ex-POW used to chain smoke in the halls of the high school but paddled any student caught smoking in the bathroom.

Quit my job a few weeks ago. The woman that handles the paperwork on everything gave me a quote on COBRA for only myself that happens to be the same amount that a former coworker is paying for himself + his wife & son. She is insane & does not take criticism well at all (typical woman, but even crazier.)

How the hell do I say "this cannot be the right amount" AGAIN? I tried circumventing her & calling the health plan. They are not the COBRA administrator. Dammit!

Bring some rope, a candlestick, a horse, 3 National Geographic magazines (no newer than 10 years ago), a number 2 pencil, a pair of novelty hypnotizing glasses, and a bucket of water. Tell her that, depending on the situation, each item is useful, however, they have nothing to do with what you are asking about COBRA. She'll be so distracted by all those things, she won't realize you are criticizing her work and she won't freak out on you.

Meant to post this when I got in this morning:

Is ESPN radio trying to run off listeners? Late last week, either Thursday or Friday, they had SKIP F'N BAYLESS sitting along side Greenie, and this morning I get in the car and it's no less than STEPHEN A. SMITH!!! yammering about shit he doesn't know. I mean really...is it going to be Bayless and Smith tomorrow? Because that's about the only way it could get worse.

SMITH!!! yammering about shit he doesn't know. I mean really...is it going to be Bayless and Smith tomorrow? Because that's about the only way it could get worse.

There is not a decent morning drive time sports radio show that I can find right now. When Czaban left FSR, there was nothing left.

I don't mind Greenie and Golic's shtick, particularly when they have the Olneys or Schefters on giving info. But that just drove me nuts. And then I made the mistake of switching on MLB on XM and heard Rob Dibble. So I listened to comedy.

The Fantasy Sports channel on XM is doing it for me since it is fantasy football season. I don't know when I will do when it is over.

Zack and Jack on FSR are tolerable some days.

Mad Dog radio was good until they put Steve Phillips on in the morning. That dude don't know shit about shit.

I was thinking about just bringing up the worst kept secret in the world: She's having an affair with the sales manager.
