So I finally bit the bullet and bought Divinity: Original Sin I (at GoG.com for 75% off though sale may be done by the time you read this or shortly after.) $10 seemed like a good bargain price for this one-and I've now seen it at this price several times in multiple places so may not be hard to get.


Looks pretty overwhelming in character creation-any tips there and in general gameplay?

On character creation just play what you want. Your max party size will be 4 and they've created a solid balance of characters you'll run into to fill out your party.

I haven't played it in ages, but combat on the default difficulty can be rather difficult at times. I apparently put a combined 97 hours into the original and enhanced versions of the game. I'd say it's definitely worth the $10.

Ace Combat 7 is coming out Jan 31. Looking forward to playing it.

The reviews have been pretty good (not specifically for PC though). A little pricey at $60 so may wait for a sale.

After a little research, it looks like one of the underlying packages that lots of games use - DirectX, .NET Framework, or something like that - had an update. Steam only actually downloads the update once, but every other piece of software installed by Steam that uses that package has to change their pointers to the new version of that package. Hence, hundreds of 0-byte updates (with a few actual updates to boot - I walked in on a 1.6 GB patch for Pathfinder:Kingmaker, saw another 300 or so updates pending, and nearly shat myself. Thank god most of those were 0-byte).

I played Slay quite a bit 6 months to a year ago and haven't launch it since. Now that it's out of early access, did they erase your progress and/or started over? I ask because I had beaten the main boss on level 3 with the first two characters.

Thanks - so it used to be that the main boss was after the 3rd level on Slay the Spire. Are you now saying that there's 6 levels before the boss? If so, that's a big difference!

Main boss is after Act 4. Lathum is referring to ascension games in which you do multiple play throughs of an ever strengthening spire.

I just finished Odyssey last night. Hands down the best AC game IMO. The world is absolutely stunning, detailed, and massive. The combat is further tweaks to the overhaul it received in Origins and the RPG elements are a nice addition.

The only knock I could really give it is the story is somewhat predictable, but the number of historical characters you interact with keeps it interesting.

I think you just need the base version-just looked like a good deal with all the DLC's added. I tried the first game, combat was just too much for me, but a lot of people liked it.

I have ACC-China on PS4. It's good times. I like it. There are a couple others in the 2.5D series of AC games, Russia, and India. I haven't played those.
