Fallout 76 (maybe just for US customers) is on a 47% off flash sale at Green Man Gaming for 24 hours. Makes the game about $32 which I think is about the lowest price on it so far.

Re: FO76, it depends on what you are looking for. If you are looking for a shoot-dem-mutants-and-ghouls with exploration of new places, you'll easily get your $32 worth.
If you are looking for a deeper experience like FO4 where you interact with NPCs, have deeper storylines, and find your meaning to life ... pass. I can definitely see great potential with FO76 with future DLC's etc. The 2 big dings that worries me is the quality and content of their patches so far (still alot of bugs, some that I would say is just change a value in a database column somewhere) and the inability of modder's to participate in helping them create a better world. |

I gotta give this a quick plug. For those that liked old artillery battles, Worbital is a twist on the concept. You control a planet and are trying to blow up other planets. Each orbital body can gravitationally affect your shotS. There is an online demo. It plays a bit slow but if fun.

Just bought OOTP 19, Niche, Space Tyrant, and Darkest Dungeon.
Had to spend 30 to get my 5 off. Looking forward to playing these games.

So I picked up the full blown game after playing a few tutorial games. Played a game against another player and a couple AI’s. The other player was shooting the Kuiper Belt Objects so they would rain down on the planets. Eventually the sun was bombarded so much that it shattered and turned into a black hole (but it happened as I won the game so I have no idea how it would affect gameplay). |

Anyone ever play Nantucket? Is it an action type game or more of a role playing sim type game?

From what I watched of others playing it, Nantucket is low on the action side and higher on the simulation/strategy RPG side.

I've got four friends codes for Breach, an action/MMO? which is still in early access. You can play as the "good guys" (solo or group) or as the bad guys/void demons where you try to mess up the good guys on a specific mission. Good guys have powers/weapons, some verticality in their movement. Check you tube for lets plays tp get a better idea. Anyway they sent me four friends codes to give out as part of their offer to play the game using their launcher rather than Steam, etc. You will have to use their launcher with these codes. Instructions are below-please let everyone know here if you use one please.
I've not gone very far in it, but its not bad early on. Early Access Friend Codes! Thank you for playing Breach in Early Access! You can send the codes below to four of your friends, for early access to Breach!
Here is how you can redeem your codes:

Picked up Hearts of Iron IV on a whim with a couple of DLCs. Steep learning curve, and the tutorial feels like it only covers about 2% of the game. I had a quick game with Japan to try get a feel for it, but spent a couple of hours with Turkey last night for my first proper play-through and enjoyed it a good deal. Definitely has the CK "one more turn" feel to it. I really like the ... I can't remember what they're called, State Decisions? The decision trees you get to drive your nation's narrative. Some fun options for Japan, and even the more generic options for Turkey give you some different objectives to shoot for that I think improve replayability. I also like the fact that it gives you some achievable goals with nations outside of just gobbling up the world like I end up shooting for in CK (or Total War).

Also, probably speaks volumes about my knowledge of modern history, but boy the map of world was in 1936 was a real cluster f*ck of colonialism. I don't think I've ever appreciated that as much as I did when looking at the HoI IV starting map for the first time.

How do you die typically? I think my first difficulty/learning spike was when I figured out how to better set up 'killing floors' by funneling traffic into specific places, and particularly cutting down trees/forests to eliminate cover for those approaching my base.

Usually it is damage from animals, crazy critters, then other things happen (roof fell on someone), then in the end they starve because everyone's too hurt to work....
The killing zones thing with traps sounds like a banner idea. IO always clear trees as I use wood like freaking candy. |

It seems like a simple idea, but a big wooden wall around your camp will keep away most of the pesky animals, and let you work inside in relative peace for the beginning stages. A big wall also works towards directing traffic a bit, as most early threats will attack the doors first (or you can just build your exit/entrance as a sort of open 'funnel' into your wall, without a door, which will attract attackers even more) and then build your defenses around that attack point appropriately. ...having said that, I don't always build a big wall early, but I feel like I've had much more success when I am able to do so. Many times it's just not an early option, depending on available resources/positioning/timing/etc.

I've found that the early game is all about safety and food. If you can quickly get to a good place on those, you should be able to progress in just about any direction.
I always follow the same template for any new game: 1. Dig/build/claim a room that's at least 7x5. 2. Get a stable source of food. (farming or hunting. Gathering berries doesn't usually work long term) 3. Create a security chokepoint, and plan my main base around it. I usually use the terrain, augmented with walls to create my chokepoint. If I can't do that, I dig into a mountain. If there are no mountains, I just use an ever-expanding outer wall surrounding my base. |

Anyone know if there's a limit to the ascension levels? I just finished level 6 with the Ironclad and thought that it was over for that character. Maybe there is no limit.
