Well, if you mean their next SB win then of course we won't ... we'll all be long since dead.

The Redskins no longer buy into trying to buy stars via Free Agency. Their new outlook is to give away the farm in draft choices and overpay for midlin free agents.

Is this what you guys were expecting when "Awww, we will just build through free agency, we dont need the draft choices"?

Redskins agreed to terms with WR Pierre Garcon, formerly of the Colts, on a five-year, $42.5 million contract.

They grossly overpaid. The deal also contains $21.5 million guaranteed. Garcon, who turns 26 before the season, chose Washington over St. Louis. The fit is solid in D.C. in that offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan knows Garcon's strengths and weaknesses from their time competing in the AFC South. Garcon figures to be Robert Griffin's top receiver with the Redskins. His run-after-catch skills suit Shanahans' West Coast offense, though the club will be disappointed if it expects Garcon to emerge as a double team-drawing No. 1 wide receiver. He's ideally suited as a complementary-type, No. 2.

That seems like a lot of money to throw at John Morgan (I hear 2y, $12m, $7.5 guaranteed). I remember liking things about the guy, but isn't he being allowed to completely walk away by a team everyone claims is totally desperate for receivers?

The Redskins are so much fun to follow.

Josh Morgan. He really is one of the best if not the best blocking WR I've seen, a genuinely great guy (when Crabtree came in, went out of his way to help him, even though Morgan was going to lose his job to him), and fairly talented - the 49ers QB play up until this point has been pretty awful. 2/12 is not a huge commitment, and its really not much in the way of risk for the Redskins (his blocking will complement RG's running ability) - it may be a slight overpay, but I wish the 49ers had kept him.

I would hazard a guess its $55,555,555?

I'd say he's worth it. I really rate him and he'll do a lot for Freeman, he makes bad throws look good.

This. No need to pay the crazy money on WRs that seems to be getting bandied about. Get a guard, safety and corner in FA. Can get a guard/corner/RB/WR in the draft.

I'll be very happy.

Reading that Brandon Carr is in Dallas right now. Would love to see him signed. Secondary is of utmost importance.

Although the now signing of Finnegan by the Rams makes me nervous as to how much Carr will be asking for.

Also, Orton will be meeting with Dallas. Would love to have him as a backup. Dallas needs a better backup QB.

I'd like a vet WR as I think Shipley will be the longest tenured on the team. They need a guy that can teach the young core.

per Jason La Canfora

Garcon deal includes $11m sign bonus, $2.1M guar base salary in '12. $5.6M base in '13 guar for injury only at time of signing

On Garcon's $5.6M '13 salary fully guaranteed if on roster 3rd day of that league year. Makes $7M-plus each of final 3yrs of deal

Jason La Canfora ‏ @JasonLaCanfora

Josh Morgan's deal w/WSH is $5.5M to sign, $1.8M base in 12 (fully guaranteed), $3.8M base in 2013, another $900K in bonuses

The Garcon deal doesn't look bad at all. I know everyone loves to bash My Skins, and 2 years ago they were right too. But last season we did excellent in Free Agency (quite a few young guys would played great) and this year we've grabbed 2 young receivers (maybe 3), the prices aren't so bad.

Have to admit I'm surprised by this. Doesn't fit with rebuilding mode unless they just wanted to have some sort of vet presence for Luck.

Carlos Rogers signs with the 49ers for 4 years, up to $31M. I'm really ok with this. I think that his numbers/performance looks a lot better than it was because of the pass rush, but I really like him back there and I didn't like many of the other options available in free agency. With him signed, Goldson Franchised and Alex Smith likely to be signed soon, the 49ers have the rest of FA to improve the team. And it's not like the team needed a lot of improving before FA.

I'm glad he resigned as well as I was starting to wonder since I didn't see his name mentioned once today by any of the local beat writers.

I agree. Having read some of the FA primers, it seemed like the 49ers weren't even considered as a potential landing spot for him. I was very pleasantly surprised to see him end up with San Francisco.

Damn. If Cincy had gone after any WR in FA, this was the one I wanted.

EDIT: Being reported that Meachem is 4/$25m, $14m guaranteed.

Really liking the 3-year $13 million contract extension the Packers gave Jordy Nelson last fall. Nice work, Ted!

I would be shocked if the Bengals sign any free agents of consequence. I read a recent story with Marvin that basically said "why do we need to sign anyone? We made the playoffs with this young core, and we're just going to be drafting better."

Plus, Mike Brown is like Mr. Krabs with his money. So, I am not sure why anyone thinks the Bengals will be signing anyone of any sort of consequence.
