Did anyone else about who Kurt Angle is supposed to face on the primetime debut on the 16th? More retarded booking from Russo.

? Last I'd seen, he was due to face the eventual winner of the Abyss v. Styles/Killings/Roode tournament match.

Yes which is ridiculous booking. You either beat Angle, beat your #1 contender, or do a crap finish to the match. But then again in Russo's mind, it doesn't matter who wins or loses.

I have assumed that the match would be a No Contest, with Joe running in to prevent a win for anybody (or to give it a cheap finish). In the context of the current storyline, that actually makes some sense. I'm having more trouble figuring out how they're going to get the #1 contender into the match when they tape tomorrow night. -- Figuring that they'll settle the 3-way dance for the 11/9 episode. -- Logically the 11/16 episode would then be Winner vs Abyss. -- But if Angle debuts in-ring on 11/16 then they'll either have to wrestle twice on 11/9 or twice on 11/16. I think I actually have more problem with creating the wrestle-twice-in- one-night (really episode) handicap situation than with the notion of Angle vs #1 contender.

TNA goes primetime baby.
Spoilers indicate that matchwise this will be fine. The opening angle makes sense too. But is the first thing (potential) new viewers need to see Eric Young? I love the character, but the first thing? I dunno 'bout that decision.

VKM - Very awful. Russo back to trying to display the behind the curtain aspects of the business via refering to creative control. A total waste.

On the other hand, that's become the standard schtick for NAO/James Gang/ Voodoo Kin Mafia. They totally broke down the fourth wall at the UWF/TNA house show we went to several months ago, so they're basically doing their gimmick. Now, I'm not saying that Russo's fingerprints certainly aren't obvious with them doing it on TV, but I don't think it's entirely Russo either. Meanwhile, I thought Tenay's comment was pretty funny. Let's just hope it turns out better for him this time than it did last time.

This has been barely watchable. Wrestling is so down right now outside (in my opinion) of ROH and PWG (PWG is just phenominal) and a remergence of IWA-MS, I just don't know what to think. Week in and week out ECW is generally the best show, thanks to the slow build of Punk and the fact that the Elimination Chamber looks good even if the rest of the PPV will be borderline God awful.

I've actually been reasonably pleased (although that's helped by knowing a lot of what's left to come)
Rhino & Cage was PPV main event quality (Lord knows I've paid $30 for a lot worse). On the downside, the Paparazzi skits have been well below par. Bad time for the creative well to run dry for that gimmick. I thought Johnny Devine looked comic book era ridiculous & I'm not overjoyed at the thoughts of yet another rendition of The Flock. No need to rehash my feelings about the LAX angle. Upsides though, the introductory style promos have been good or better. The X-Division one (running while I type) is damned good. And yeah, I'm a little ... disturbed ... by the appearance of another MLB star on TNA. It's cute & all, and I guess adds some sort of cachet for the non-wrestling fan that might be watching but it's a heck of a thing to spend precious primetime minutes on.

I have a feeling that WWE has bought off TNA and now are doing a storyline about TNA vs WWE. I won't be surprise to see Vince and DX show up one day on TNA.

PWG is like ROH but based out West except it's got a sense of humor to it. It's run by six wrestlers and features guys like AJ Styles, Samoa Joe, etc, but is based around El Generico (http://youtube.com/watch?v=Fz_wm1YVaR4) Chris Bosh, Scott Lost and Joey Ryan. Here's highlights from the PWG Tango & Cash Tournament: http://youtube.com/watch?v=cgo3j8FrjBY Like I said, it's great wrestling but also entertaining as hell. |

Some pros of TNA tonight:
the cage match was solid, the X-Divison title match was solid. The cons: Way too much going on. Four X-Divison champs in five weeks? LAX/Petey Williams makes no sense. The post segment Tenay bit was so forced it was sad. |

So does this mean a Petey Williams face turn? Problem is that there aren't many X-Div heels for him to work against (bad, since it could limit his screen time)
I wondered how they were going to get out of that, but I expected another AMW save to be honest.

Actually, it sort of took me back to the good old days of Gordon Solie. Tenay ain't Solie by any stretch of the imagination, but that actually felt like a timewarp throwback to the 70's to me. The word choice, the tone, the straight into the camera delivery, very southeastern wrestling face announcer stuff.

Ouch.
http://www.tnawrestlingnews.com/head...65730343.shtml Dish Network is not carrying TNA Genesis live on Sunday due to an apparent scheduling conflict. Replays will be available all week on Dish, and future TNA PPVs are scheduled to be carried live on Dish. This is just one exception, and TNA officials are looking into the reasons for it at this time.

Groan.
There's a couple of new (to me anyway) spoilers floating around this morning, both concerning upcoming additions to stables. One involves a new member of Raven's flock that I really don't care about, but the other concerns a new addition to LAX that has me very disappointed indeed. I'll avoid mentioning it here for now, it's over at tnawrestlingnews.com (and I'm sure some other places too). Damn you Vince Russo.

If the LAX rumor is true, I'm a fan, assuming they play it off well. The new guy and a current LAX'er have amazing chemistry from their indy days. So it makes some sense.

DeTox -- This is just one of those deals where I understand why something would be done & if I were a disinterested observer I probably wouldn't be bothered by it. Problem is, I already don't enjoy the LAX angle (the angle, not the performers), and I like the hell out of watching Senshi, and I just don't (personally) want to have my enjoyment of him diminished by my unhappiness with the angle he's in.

Rumor has it that Big Show will need to take some long term time off starting in December, and may retire completely. It is widely expected he will lose the belt in ECW's Denver PPV.

He looks absolutely awful. He can barely move, and even is face just looks unwell. They need to get him out of the ring before he either drops dead or kills someone else. I was watching some mid-90s WCW Big Show stuff recently - he was incredibly agile and underrated back then. He would occasionally come off the top rope, and there was a rumor he was practicing a moonsault. To see him in his present condition is sad. |

SPOILER ALERT (From PWT)
WINNER: Abyss via DQ at 15:10 to capture the NWA Title. This was the stupidest ending to a wrestling match I've since WCW PPVs in the late '90s. Abyss should have been DQ'ed at least five times. Sting should have been DQ'ed three times before he was finally DQ'ed. TNA never ever never ever mentions the "DQ can lead to a title change" situation and all of a sudden, then pull this out of the hat after three years of PPV title matches where the participants should have been DQ'ed. Jeff Jarrett should have lose the title a dozen times when he was champion if TNA reinforced this rule. Just lazy booking. |

Russo's stamp...rules out the window, precedent means nothing, laziness abounds. Russo will no doubt run TNA into the ground after his initial pop.

I got a good chuckle from the end of Raw, the giant schmozz in the ring after the main event. I know it was cheesy, but having every person from the upcoming Survivor Series matches be in the ring at the same time was a pretty classic visual. (Classic in the old school sense, not in the all-time-great sense)

Not nearly so fanatically as I once did. Now, I think, I'm much more able to take the occasional small pleasures from it and set aside all of the stuff that frustrates me with it. That was most definitely not always the case. It isn't that many years ago yet that I pretty much watched, read, talked, or wrote about it seven days a week. It's odd in a way, I think (although I don't know that I've ever thought about it this way before now) there's something similar about wrestling fans & baseball fans. Specifically, the way we remember minor or middling characters and the way those take us back through parts of our life.

That was indeed, the Dweam hisself.
He's part of an angle for Survivor Series that has The Spirit Squad (aka the annoying male cheerleaders in green track suits) taking on a team of Legends (Flair, Anderson, Rhodes, Simmons, and I think Piper is the fifth one).

Mild spoiler: former WWE'er Tyson Tomko debuted for TNA at last night's tapings.
I have only the faintest notion of who he is, could somebody who has seen him give me an idea of whether he can actually work?
