This is actually a pretty cool series for Winnipeggers. We clearly have Toews to cheer for, but there is also Richards (Kenora, ONT which is a big cottage area for Winnipeg residents) and Pronger (Dryden, ONT just east of Kenora). Then there is also Duncan Keith, born here in Winnipeg and grew up in Fort Francis, ONT (south of Kenora).

Don't forgot about Aaron Asham from just down the #1 Highway in Portage. Patrick Sharp was also born in Winnipeg and grew up playing in Thunder Bay. All in all, a pretty good showing for the boys from Manitoba and Northern Ontario.

If the Flyers can't steal this one, especially given the fact the Hawks have essentially gift-wrapped it? They probably don't stand much of a chance at all...

The Sharks blew it(5 PP to 0) in their game 1 v the Hawks...weird how it is happening again(the Hawks getting 0 chances on the PP)

kinda sucky for the Flyers to lose it on a goal that should never have happened...

That was a game that not having a horse in the race was exciting to watch. But for any Flyers or Hawks fans, that had to be awfully painful.

My early prediction for Conn Smythe is a split between the goal horn operators at the United Center and Wachovia Center.

It had the defense of a preseason game...it's pretty bad when I can honestly say Scott Hartnell was the best Flyer on both ends of the ice. I'm curious on if Boucher will get the nod in Game 2. He did not look rattled like Leighton did.

Nemi on the other hand looked like a deer in the headlights...someone needs to tell him to stop going down so quick (that's what she said).

Is it true that the puck hit the Blackhawks bench during that sequence?

My friends and I were discussing the entire SJ/Chi series that they needed to throw pucks around his head. Dude goes down faster than...well, I'll leave that up to your imagination. But it's fast.

Wow, that crowd sucked. First the disrespect to the anthem then as soon as the Flyers would tie or go ahead by one goal (ONE GOAL) it sounded like a library.

They waited for the Blackhawks to take the lead to cheer. Talk about a bandwagon jumping group of fans...

Give me the Montreal fans any day over that.

You do know the story behind the cheering during the anthem, right? Back in the day, the Chicago fans were given a bunch of flak for booing the Canadian anthem, so they decided instead to cheer the American anthem. While it may be annoying, I don't think I'd call it disrespect.

yes, it did, pretty clearly too. Don't know about NBC but CBC showed a couple replays of it and their commentators talked about it the moment it happened, even saying something like "let's see if the Blackhawks will take advantage of that chance" or something to that effect, then they scored...

Leighton will start tonight. Carcillo will also most likely dress...rumor has it the Flyers may only go with 5 defensemen.

Well, rolling with lots of defensmen didn't really seem to matter on defense last game, so why not this route?

They pretty much only played 5 defensemen. Parent played 41 seconds and was out there for the first goal. He didn't see the ice the rest of the game. I doubt that Krijeck played more than 5 minutes too.

Well, you get the point, though. Didn't seem like either team had a single Dman out there.

I don't think I've ever heard anyone consider the cheering of the anthem to be disrespectful. In fact, I've seen countless people, including the military members they invite on the ice during it, comment on how patriotic and emotional it is.

I guess we could be better fans and vomit all over little girls at games.

At least you are semi original and didn't bring up the fact that Shane Victorino got a full beer thrown on him while trying to catch a fly ball in Wrigley last year.

Awesome

Very fun game. It was just bottled up until that first goal and then all hell broke loose and the game opened way up.
