I’m not entirely sure he’s held to the HIPPA standard as he isn’t a healthcare provider. There are also other ways that, even if he is, it would be ok. For instance the person he was speaking of could have told him it was OK to reveal the information. Also if he isn’t held to the HIPPA standard and the person he was talking about told him the information I can’t imagine how that would violate anything either.

Ummm, did Nick Fuentes slide right into the Charlie Kirk spot on the right? Is that what is happening right now?

It really pisses me off when Trump dismisses prices increasing and says energy costs are down so everyone is saving. It doesn't take much effort to use google and quickly find out that natural gas prices are up 16% year to year, electricity is up 11% year to year and gasoline is 10 cents more expensive today than it was one year ago. I know prices are relative to where you live but I don't know how these "savings" are going to help people afford more expensive groceries. It would be nice to have someone leading that is grounded in reality.

Biden did the same thing, talking about how great things were, and got killed for it. The gop is now suffering from it as evidence of Tuesday. They can lie and cover up numbers all they want but everyone grocery shops and people see what’s happening in the jobs market and with the shutdown.

What’s funny is he uses the most absurd numbers in his lies that any half reasonable person will know can’t be true. He will never lose the diehard MAGA. He could literally walk in their house and replace their turkey with ozempic and they would thank him. It’s going to be the problem the gop has moving forward. MAGA can win primaries but with no Trump on the ballot they will struggle in generals. Guys like Mike Lawler in swing district are toast.

Maybe he even believes that prices are lower. You'll never see Trump in a grocery store, so if his group of sycophants are telling him that prices are lower, he probably believes them.

He'd like to go to a grocery store, but he doesn't have an ID, so they won't let him in.

I know, I'm aware of the details. It's not an actual HIPAA violation, but no one in government should be sharing medical details of others.

I think he absolutely believes prices are lower and he is being spoon fed by his handlers. He exists in a complete alternate reality where everything he touches turns to gold because he has surrounded himself by people who won't tell him any different.

I just heard a reporter ask Trump if he thinks republicans should change their negotiating tactics and be willing to give concessions to the dems. His answer was they should pass laws requiring voter ID, no mail in voting, and only in person voting on Election Day. I’m sure that will get them back to the table.

Heard an interview with Pat Harrigan, rep from NC. Said he thinks they are going to likely put forward a bill that would extend the CR through January. Since it would currently only be though 11/21 so kind of pointless at this point. Extending it though Jan would get everyone through the holiday, and according to him give them time to negotiate.

I think the Dems should jump on this. It is a win/win. Either they come to the table and give the dems concessions, or they refuse to negotiate and the dems can justify the shutdown that would follow.

Steve Bannon predicts prison if Republicans lose midterms, 2028 - Newsweek

Quote:
“And I will tell you right now, as God is my witness,” Bannon told the crowd at a Conservative Partnership Institute event on Wednesday, “if we lose the midterms and we lose 2028, some in this room are going to prison—myself included. They’re not gonna stop. They are getting more and more and more radical. And we have to counter that. And what do we have to counter it with? We have to counter it with more action, more intense action, more urgency. We’re burning daylight.”

I'm at the point where I really hope so. I have guys that are talking about getting a 2nd job as early as next week if this isn't resolved. I also have another that's national guard and volunteered to go to Alaska to support the floods because at least the guard is paying since it's state funds. We've all had 1 partial paycheck in 6 weeks.

Man I am really sorry to hear that, it sucks and I really empathize for people who live on or around the margins and the stress it must cause.

Trump today had his most unhinged, out of touch presser today where he is creating his own reality. Yelling like an old man at a cloud that all the prices have come down and he doesn't want to hear about affordability anymore.

His frustration is really coming through that he is being told everything is great and doesn't get why he keeps getting all these questions about the economy. He referenced the Walmart thing again. I can only imagine it gets worse as the holidays approach.

I saw a thing today on Facebook, so take it for face value, that claimed there are pictures in the Epstein files of Trump and Epstein with their arms around topless young girls. I am starting to think it is something that bad for them to continue covering it up.

Bondi was directly asked about those pictures during hearings and avoided answering. No one knows if they have the photos, but they're certainly referenced in the files.

It's also the deep Israel ties. Also the tons of money laundering for wealthy people who also just so happen to be huge donors to many of our politicians.

Which ones?

The ones at the FBI or the ones that might reside someplace else?

Given what we have learned about INFOSEC in the last two administration, I have a hard time believing that the files that the FBI possess are the only ones that exist related to Jeffery Epstein, his clientele and his victims. I expect whatever is released will have a counter release from another source.

Trump says the government shouldn't send money to insurance companies. Instead, we should send money to individuals to buy their own insurance through insurance companies.

Yep, that'll solve things.

I get this stuff because I'm from Maine, but this is a nice illustration of people voting against their economic interests.

Spoiler for size.

Spoiler

People voting Democratic are voting for benefits they will not use, but will go to those worse off than them. People voting Republican are voting against benefits that they are absolutely using (and in general are making no effort to stop using).

It's so hard when you've used social media to publicly show your affiliation. I'm convinced that's why so many people have doubled down on this shit and started listening to the extreme viewpoints and conspiracy theories because it's way easier to justify to yourself that what you believe is the truth than admit you're wrong. And instead of it just being in your head or among your family, you've now publicized your beliefs to tens of thousands of people.

Makes sense, considering people are taking out 7+ year loans on cars.

While it's obviously an indicator of an economy going in the wrong direction, I'm in favor of making this. Better to build a little equity than to pay rent, and if low-payment mortgages are available, that competition would help bring rents down. I know my situation is not the same as everyone's, but there are times in my life where I rented instead of buying, when I might have bought if I could have had a 50-year mortgage.

There's definitely potential issues:

1. The possibility of more foreclosures if people are taking on loans for that long.
2. Interest rates could end up sky-high for these.

Still better than renting.

A far better solution would be to make building easier, which would start with killing off the tariffs. Then provide government grants for down payments for first time home buyers that meet certain criteria. Another approach would be creating a new type of loan for first time buyers that simply waives the down payment, similar to VA loans.

50 year loans would require current law to be rewritten and would be a boon to mortgage lenders. It also doesn't solve the primary issue with a lot of young buyers, making that down payment.
