The keeper obviously thought a shot from that angle was impossible and it had to be a cross.

Nice goal there by Brazil. They should have had 5 or 6 like it so far.

It only took 14 games for there to be a game where both teams scored and there was a winner.

Algeria, Australia, Cameroon, Denmark, France, Greece, Ivory Coast, Nigeria, Portugal, Serbia, and Uruguay are looking up at Best Korea in the scoring table.

Disagree. It looked like he used the outside of his boot, which would indicate to me that he intended it as a shot.

If the keeper thought a shot was possible from that angle, then his positioning was absolutely horrible, because he was way off the line. If he were even close to the line he would have been able to at least get a hand on that ball.

Don't think he meant it, although I did at first. On the replay though, when Maicon looked up he looked across into the box, not at the goal.
The second goal was class - can't believe it didn't get a mention? (Edit - ah - it did!)

Surely you meant second-best Korea. Best Korea is looking up to Germany and enjoys Netherlands and Brazil on their side.

The 2nd goal was amazing - weighting a pass, on the ground, past 4 guys is ridiculous.

I just read that Bayern Munich, Schalke, and Bayer Leverkusen used the ball for their home games for the last half of the season. Were there any complaints about the ball by other teams in the Bundesliga this season?

These were sent to me from a friend of mine from Manchester:
Robert Green has been announced as the new Chief Executive of BP after Tony Hayward stepped down over the weekend. A spokesman said "He is an expert on spillages and his eagerness to help the USA has been noted". Rob Green has trained today and in 3 hours he had 4,000 shots fired at him and did not concede a single goal. Tomorrow, he and Heskey will train with the rest of the squad. The England players visited an orphanage in South Africa this morning. "It's so good to put a smile on the faces of people constantly struggling and facing the impossible" said Jamal Umboto aged 6. Meanwhile, Scottish police have spent the night dealing with horrendous flash floods, after 5 million locals simultaneously pissed themselves laughing when the USA scored against England .

very impressive win by Chile from the glimpses i saw and reports i read, Honduras with effort as well but no match for Chileīs attacking power. Wasted a lot of good scoring opportunities though.

Fuckin ridiculous. When the very best players in the world can't shoot, cross or play a through ball every single game, there has got to be something wrong with the damn ball. Great job FIFA as usual.
Seriously, I've seen more through balls go long, crosses go straight out of play and shots threaten the corner flag in the last week than 5 years watching division four football every single weekend. |

As a public service to lighten the hearts a bit : Match Highlights Football Video by Germany V Australia Highlights 13.06.2010
(10 minutes of highlights ) gloating is kind of fun although iīm pretty sure we are in for a slugfest against serbia now, the 2nd game by the german team has been consistently bad or at least very close the last couple tournaments really ... Last edited by whomario : 06-16-2010 at 09:54 AM. |

Spain is better on the 'counter' attack as the Swiss cant clog up the box with 8 and the 2 forwards 25 yards out.
Its just a matter of time for Spain to get one on the board in the 2h. Id take that worthless Ramos off the wing though as hes most ineffective. Bring Pedro off the bench and let him work the right flank.

Actually this is the FIRST and most important thing the keeper looks at when moving to defend the ball. If you aren't watching the angling of the attackers legs/feet body then you shouldn't be playing Keeper. As others have said, his positioning was hoorible. he was a good 3 feet farther out from the post than he should have been. he fucked up, they scored. end of story. |

WOW! Spain fell asleep a bit on a long goal kick and the Swiss take advantage to score!

Horse shit. this is exactly how the last World cup looked. The ball is NOT the problem. The only people with anything to bitch about the ball is the goal keepers. Because the ball doesn't spin as much on a hard shot and tends to knuckle as it flies. The rest is just normal footy, if they were making all the plays you mention as regularly as you seem to think they should the scores would be 10-9 every game. |

@ RendeR : The ball is sped up yet again though and there is no denying that the ball bounces a great deal higher than usual. (although i suspect this also has to do with other factors like the ground itself not absorbing the energy of the bounce very well as there werenīt such problems in the german league as far as i can recall)

Sadly reminds me the game vs usa in the conf cup, total domination vs a well organiced team that scores on counters.

The problem is the same as with every World Cup. In the early rounds the lesser teams play to not get destroyed instead of to win. They get 10 men behind the ball and defend with their lives. It makes for very boring and tedious football.
After the prelims things start to pick up when the stakes are higher and it's win or go home. Every World Cup is like this. |
