Jim Brown was before my time but have seen his clips. Power running and speed at it's best. RIP

FWIW, I'd say Barry Sanders and Eric Dickerson are the 2 most entertaining pro RB of my time.

He was perhaps a better football player than husband, but, I remember the crowd going wild when he'd make appearances at Syracuse games in the 90's when I was there. He'd just randomly walk down the sidelines, be spotted, be cheered, he took it all in. Every internal phone number at Syracuse University starts with 44 because of him (and then Ernie Davis, and then Floyd Little, and then we kind of just stopped having legendary running backs.)

English novelist Martin Amis is today's dead famous person. 73 years old.

I've been reading my way through his novels, and JoninMiddleGA has a quote of his in his sig, so that makes him famous enough for a mention.

I've read Lucky Jim from his dad, but nothing from him yet. I don't think I've even seen any books of his making my used book rounds, which is a little odd now that I think of it.

I put my collection together from used book stores. Maybe you're not seeing them because I've snapped them all up. Friends of the Library Bookstore in Rockville had a great collection til I bought them all for $2.99 each.

Ray Stevenson, famous for playing Titus Pullo in "Rome" among other works, has died at 58. Rome was such an underrated show, and his performance was stellar. Among one of my favorite TV characters of all time.
Also, I am starting to see way too many people dying in their 50's.

Kill The Irishman wasn’t great but the whole Cleveland mob in the 70s was wild. So many car bombings. Something between 30-40 in one summer.

Man, this one hits a bit harder than most. Saw her for the first time on TV, probably when I was 8 or 9 singing Proud Mary. Even at that age, when I couldn't have given a damn about music in general she was captivating. I called my wife little Tina when we first met because her dancing was full of energy like Tina LOL.

I saw this on Twitter and it unlocked a memory that I had completely forgotten about:

Bowie was 40 and Turner was 47 or 48. Makes me feel real old.

Not a celeb, but definitely famous. Robert Hanssen died at age 79.

I've sat through so many hours of training that references him and his spying. Breach is also a pretty solid film.

Pat Cooper.

Who I don't think anyone under 70 knows, except maybe from Howard Stern.

But I remember Steve Schirripa from the Sopranos going on a long rant about him on a podcast about what a dick he was when he did unsuccessful Vegas shows in the 90's.

Right now I'm imagining Pat Robertson and the Iron Sheik having some small talk while waiting to be judged in front of the Pearly Gates, arguing which one faked their profession better.

Pat Robertson, man of intolerance, judgments and mostly responsible for at a minimum, dozens of teen suicides. Unfortunately, we knew you too well.

I had the opposite reaction kinda (at least I think it's opposite what you meant here).

I was shocked to see that he was 81, having forgotten how old he was when he was arrested.
