YouTubeTV's got all of the games correct on its guide.

So in an even dumber move, they corrected it and now have all the games listed. However, they cancelled my original recording so if I hadn't double checked it wouldn't have recorded anything...

Hilarious that 3 AL Central teams may be left out of the last 4 in the AL.

This is the first year since Obama was President that the Astros will not be in the ALCS.

I sort of hate the 3-game series. Made sense for maybe lower seeds but kind of sucks for the 2nd best record in your league. Basically just making the playoffs a coin flip and killing the intensity.

only way to fix it is to shorten the regular season but owners will never agree to giving up gate revenue

I'd much rather see a shortened season even if it means 8 teams in each league. Just give me the best teams playing the best teams. Don't need to see the White Sox and Angels play 162 games.

I think this is now a minority opinion, honestly.

I really don't care anymore. I've kinda given up on even thinking about it. We're a society that loves tournaments and playoffs and championships and all of that stuff, so this seems to be one of those areas in which the PTB's money grab somewhat coincides with the public at large's interest in being invested in teams/leagues where more teams have a chance to win it all.

These WC series haven't even been all that competitive in 3 years - this year's Brewers/Mets series is only the 2nd series not to be a 2-0 sweep. But the games have been fun/exciting for the most part. I think the micro-experiences of each game have begun to trump the macro-experience of exclusivity. That's my take, any way.

I'd be cool going back down to 154 games. What single season stat records are even a thing anymore? HR you're not going to approach the record. Nobody pitches 200 innings anymore. Hardly anyone is getting 200 hits. So, who cares?

I'd be fine with that too, but that's not really a material change and doesn't address the concerns of those who think the season is too long. The only thing that would do is help with scheduling the post-season to end before Halloween (assuming they didn't expand the playoffs even further in exchange for losing a week of the regular season).

Reds hired Terry Francona? Didn't he retire for health reasons?

That was the word at the time.

Maybe a year off got him healthy?

Crazy stats and facts from Jason Stark's column today.

Alonso's Homer was the first lead changing homer in a winner take all game in mlb history.

Devin Williams had given up 3 runs all season. He gave up 4 last night.

It was the 116th game Devin Williams had pitched the 9th inning in. It was the first time he had allowed a lead flipping homer.

Williams hadn't allowed a homer on his changeup this season.

Pete's homer is 2nd all time in added win probability in winner take all games behind Francisco Cabrera's single against the Pirates in '92.

I think that's what was so crazy. You can count on one hand the number of pitchers I would be supremely confident to hold a 2-0 lead in the 9th and Williams is one of them.

I was afraid this was gong to happen with the Phillies. They were incredibly inconsistent all year. Looked amazing for weeks/months and then sucked for weeks/months. Oh well.

My Chemical Romance is definitely one of those bands that I just missed completely. We saw a show a month ago and one of the openers did a cover but didn't announce who it was, just said that there's no one here that doesn't know this song and I expect you all to sing along, then started playing a song I'd never heard in my life. Seemed like the entire crowd sang along with the chorus. I picked a few words out and googled it and it turned out to be a MCR song. I guess I've never heard one of their songs in my life, despite the fact that they're genre-adjacent to a lot of stuff I listen to (or at least know/heard of).

These Mets are a roller coaster.

I wonder what prompted the exchange with Nimmo and JT. Nimmo isn't the type to start jawing.

Mets got what they needed - a win on the road. Hoping Detroit can do the same tomorrow despite yesterday's debacle. If they can't win with Skubal, it's over. If they win, they've got home field at least.

I don't know who the play by play guy is for the Dodgers, but he and Rick Monday are absolutely hammering the Dodger fans for their behavior tonight. Kudos to them.

The video from the stands makes the whole thing even worse. Profar comes over and gives the fan a free baseball and he immediately threw it back. Then another ball came out of the stands near Profar. Can't tell who threw it but it wasn't the original guy.

The last time the Tigers hosted a playoff game, Nick Castellanos was the starting 3B.

Suarez is the first pitcher in post season history to allow 4 hits and 2 walks in the first two innings and not give up a run.

This is the most Mets stat ever

The Tigers have been so good so far that at this point, I don't really care what happens with the Phillies. But their bullpen is so bad right now that losing seems inevitable.

That said, I promised Mack that if the Tigers and Phillies somehow make the WS, we'd go to a game in Detroit.
