Friday Night Lights, season 1. Had some holes in it preventing it from being as good as some other first seasons that I have watched, but really good overall.
Mad Men, season 1. Still trying to get into it, but it falls towards the bottom of first seasons for me so far, but that's against shows that all of the cool kids are watching(Dexter, BSG, Firefly, etc) so the competition is tough. Firefly. I need to see the movie, but I'm curious to see where the show was going to go. I think that's more intriguing to me versus just sad to see the show cut short.

SeaQuest DSV. The NBC show from the 90s that's best described as "Star Trek in the ocean." Season 2 is a disaster and Seasons 1 and 3 aren't linked very well. But 1 is all right, Season 3 I actually like a lot better because it's not "all environment all the time." Before they cancelled it. Would be a good show for them to reboot on SyFy.
Star Trek Enterprise: I can see why it got cancelled faster than any of the previous Star Trek show sequels. But it's not awful. Last edited by Young Drachma : 11-08-2011 at 04:52 PM. |

Started watching a series called Borgia. Not sure what country it's from. Really good stuff so far. I enjoyed The Tudors and this series appears to be hitting a similar spot for me. It's about the Italian families who wielded power in Rome during the late 1400s.

Bump....
So what's everybody watching? I'm dissapointed Dexters' not available to stream anymore. I just watched "Breaking Bad" and "Mad Men"... I saw they just added the movie "Limitless" (Bradley Cooper, not bad at all)..... Just overwhelming the amount of stuff available, but most of it's bad. Please post if you see something you enjoyed, or deem worth watching... Last edited by Landshark44 : 11-17-2011 at 02:01 PM. |

The Confederate States of America
An interesting mockumentary done by a British company looking at the United States 130 years after the south won the Civil War.

Gentlemen Prefer Blondes and Breakfast at Tiffany's since I have wanted to watch some old school stuff. I find it interesting to compare how movies were done back then to what we have now.

If you're not watching Red Dwarf on a loop, you're basically wasting your television's lifespan.

I finally got around to watching this one. Really got into the story, and you are right, it is hard not to cheer for them. Lips can't sing to save his life, and frankly his sound is just 4 decades behind, but I wish with all my heart that I had as much desire to stick in the face of overwhelming opposition to his guns. Great heart.

My new show of late is White Collar. Sort of got into it by accident, but I'm enjoying it as a crime show of a different sort. A bit too neat, but I like it.

Just watched this last night with the wife. Maybe not the hard hitting documentary some would hope for but still, it was a beautifully crafted piece of nostalgia.

If it's anything beyond the first full season, it might be easier to get out. I know a guy online that was a hardcore Glee person(all the soundtracks, etc.), but even he admits the show lost some luster during season two.

I saw somewhere the creator is a huge jerk and if you go against him he screws you over. This has lead to a number of characters going through weird plot lines, or being pushed into the background. I'm not saying it's true, but it might explain some of the reason why the show was off. I'm on season three. Not perfect in terms of logic, but solid enough. Season 2 is really hurt by the lack of episodes. It just feels like about 1/2 of a story and then they pick up in season three with near no explanation of certain things. I think once they know they are getting shortened seasons they plan better around it.

Season 2 was cut short because of the writers strike. So I think it was written for a full 23 episode season and that's why it seems like the plots didn't play out right. The good news is that it's by far the worst season of the show. 3,4, and 5 are stellar and seem to be written for the shorter season perfectly. |

While the football season was bypassed in a rather quick manner, I don't think it was as bad as someone's relationship status going 180 with zero reasoning and actually going against what they had been building up. As much love as Coach Taylor gets, I think Buddy is becoming my favorite character. The underlining storyline for season 4 does feel like a jump the shark type of moment, but it is interesting enough to where it doesn't feel too bad. Random thought on Netflix bringing Firefly back. No, it's not coming back. PHENOMENAUT AEROSPACE, Could Netflix Bring Firefly Back From The Dead?

The original Girl with a Dragon Tattoo is on streaming.
I went and finished Friday Night Lights. Solid wrap up on the show even if I kept finding more and more little things that bugged me. They seem to be working on a movie, but I honestly can't see why.

Did they ever explain how Riggins got to be a senior 3 times?
I probably watched 20 episodes in a week, and I really think Minka Kelly is horrible. I can't believe Jeter would deal with her chin for 3 years. |

A number of people threw me off in terms of what year they were suppose to be until they graduated. It didn't help that some actors really didn't look their character's age. Even during season 1, there was no way in hell Riggins looked like a high schooler. It certainly didn't help him walking around with a near permanent beer in his hand. I just looked up his age. He was 25 at the time and looked every bit of it. Matt during season one was a sophomore and yet was played by a 24 year old. Most of the main students were played by 24-26 year olds. Only Landry and Julie were played by a 18 and 17 year old respectively during season one. EDIT: Looks like JD McCoy was like 20 when he first appeared.

They may have made the age decision on the fly. I doubt a sophomore starts on varsity like that. I went to a super tiny school and that rarely happened. Also I doubt that a senior(Street) would be BFF with a sophomore. |

Tucker and Dale Vs. Evil is on netflix instant now. I highly highly recommend it as one of the funniest movies I've seen. Alan Tudyk and Tyler Labine have outstanding chemistry, and this movie deserved a much wider release in theaters.

I really don't think they expected the show to last that long so they had to sort of improvise when it kept getting renewed. I let it slide because it's a difficult position they were in. One thing I didn't like was how they turned Landry into a football player. Thought his character was unique being the anti-football player in a Texas high school football town. |
