I'd be happy to give you credit, but it was actually FBCB2.

Ah - either way, good to see you around. You're one of my favorite posters around these parts.

So, flesh out rules:

1. Poster posts 10 google map images.
2. They will be from locations with identifiable landmarks. They can be somewhat obscure, but not to the point that there is no identifiable landmark. Variety is encouraged.
3. Contestants have 24 hours to submit their guesses.
4. Posters may use all available resources to identify the location.
5. Each image is worth 100 points. Points will be awarded based on 100/(Correct Entries). For instance, we have 10 contestants. All 10 get image A correct, they each get 10 points. Only 5 get image B right, each of those 5 get 20 points.
6. The winner gets to post the next entry. In the case of a 2-way tie, they each get to post 5 images. In the case of more than 2 tieing, the first two entries get to submit 5 images.

I know this would make things harder for the poster, but maybe there could be an overall theme category. maybe used in the tie breaker, such as all on the same longitude, all 20th century, etc.

Another variation on the theme idea would be for the contestants to submit a pic that fits with the theme or is next sequentially

just a thought...

Thanks. However, life gets in the way of posting a lot of the time (especially when life now includes a kid).

I was too slow on the trigger with Fort Sumter because I actually had to log in.

I hate to admit it, but I know it from all the Stargate SG-1 stock footage taken there. They had a cut or three every single episode, it seemed.

Time to pick one off my pile.

Decided to go with a new one rather than one I already had since I thought this might be a bit tougher (could be wrong, tho...)

Look at the zoom level. If the thing going through the middle is a body of water, it's a relatively short distance across.

Alien landing spot, I'm sure

Ok, gotta go with the clues I suppose. I went a little too obscure.

If you've been paying attention, this won't help, but it's in the US (you can tell because our images almost all say USDA on the copyright info)

I'm running out of time, unfortunately. We're looking at a National Park in the western United States. The major features of the park are in multiple locations on that picture.

I actually considered Old Faithful but I thought the picture was a little too obvious.

We're down to Arizona. Can't be too many national parks there, right?

Yeah, lacks giant canyon-y thing. And I also thought of Painted Desert/Petrified Forest but couldn't find a Google image that I liked- they had one of those areas where it changes colors halfways through the park so it looked all weird.

There appear to be three and based on my googling, this doesn't look like any of them.

Ok, then looking at the parks list it would be some park i've never heard of.

The next best thing I can do is just copy and paste the national park registry for AZ.

That's because the marker if you just search on the name puts you in the middle of the park whereas I just ran it over to the west where the entrance was instead
