damn, Diaz called out Smith's camp too, saying they've been telling him what's been going on at Smith's camp and invited him to join his camp up the road to train with a real camp calling Smith's friends 'disloyal'.

Well if that is true and Diaz was leaked Smith's gameplan by his training camp I would hope Smith would never step foot in that gym again.

Wow, and Arlovski is called out by McCarthy within seconds of the bell and was tearing up on his stool....sad in a way. A replay showed it was NOT an early stoppage. arlovski was in never never land....love the Ref Cam too..McCarthy was all over it.

Great move by Shields there. For such a short fight, it sure looked like Shields was in trouble and was just outsized by Lawler. He hung in there and got a nice choke.

We've yet to see what Rogers can do on the ground. He definitely has the size, power, and quickness to pose a problem to anyone. I hope he gets his Overeem fight next. If he can get by Alistair then we can talk about him as an upper tier guy. Obviously they have to setup one of the two to be the next guy for Fedor if(when) he gets by Barnett.

As for Diaz making Scott Smith look bad, that's nothing new. Scott Smith looks bad almost always. Guy has a ton of heart, but he's not exactly top of the heap skill-wise. He takes the Don Frye approach to fighting most of the time. Always fun to watch, but not the greatest way to go about things.

Diaz is always fun to watch. Since Lawler lost and I doubt he'll fight his camp-mate in Shields, I really hope he gets a Cung Le fight. That's if Cung has any intention to go back to fighting.

Pretty fun card.

Very interested. Those guys are a blast to watch. I think Brown is too much for him though. Faber's chance is too outwork him. He's going to have to grind him down and either get a decision or maybe catch a submission, because I think in the standup Brown has a clear advantage.

I'll be pulling for Faber though just so we can see a rubber match.

The undercard matches all interest me as well. This is a great weekend for MMA.

That was a pretty solid KO, pilotman. The good news of course, is that guy didn't feel a thing the 2nd time around.

Yeah, after watching the post-fight interviews, that was the first time they fought. I thought the rematch was supposed to happen tonight.

If not, I'm putting the Lakers/Magic game back on...

I think he's still with UFC. Frank Mir does commentary for the WEC as well, and he's fighting Brock Lesnar in UFC 100.

WEC and UFC are both Zuffa owned, so there's no contract issues. Mir usually does it, but between his up coming fight and I believe his wife was due to have her baby today he stepped aside for this one.

That Pulver fight was embarassing. I've never seen anyone win and look so down. I think he was embarassed for Jens.

Pulver just said after his fight: "I'm not gonna be one of those guys who keeps sayin they retire and doesn't retire but I started right here in Sacramento, and I think I might have just ended here."

Great fight. Faber was doing pretty well with the standup, and was losing the ground game but taking almost no damage in doing so.

He looks to be losing it more and more. It does seem like his hand(s) are hurt.

I thought the 4th and 5th would be when he'd have the best chance to win, but I think this one is Brown's now.

Nice, technical card. You could hear the impact in round 1 when Faber hit Brown smack on top of the head, and I can only imagine that was the shot that did in his right.

Yeah great fight. I really like both of them. Nice to see a big time title fight that doesn't have a bunch of fake "beef" added to it. Both guys are classy.

I figured Brown would get the win, but I was really hoping Faber would win to set up a 3rd match because I'm sure these guys couldn't put on a boring fight. Think this was one of the best ways Faber could have loss and still left that as a possibility.

Let Brown fight Aldo and put Faber in another and let him earn his shot.

Nice card.

Aldo is gonna be a tough fight, but Brown is clearly the strongest guy in the weight class. Sucks that Faber broke his hand midway through the first, but it does show his staying power to fight 4 more rounds with just elbows(!).

Very interesting weight class for sure with these three. I can't wait for the next fight!

On a semi-related note:

TiVos and DVRs are great for most sports in general, but YE GODS I love the DVR for boxing/mma fights in particular. No 20 minute warmup, lukewarm trashtalk, or ring entrances? Praise the TV lords!

Aldo is a maniac and very fast too, he will give Brown fits if Brown can't take him down.

You have to hand to Faber, fighting 4 rounds with a badly broken right and his left has t be hurt too as he did nothing but slap with it after the 2nd. You can't question his heart making that fight as close as it was being reduced to basically elbows. He may have been able to sink that choke in the last round with two good hands, but as strong as Brown is that is no guarantee. Would love to see Aldo / Brown and Faber / Grispi fight on the same card (If fabers hand is healed) and the winners meet.
