Totally agree. Maximum Football will lie in the bed that it has made for itself. I am not sure that the makers of the game understand how much of a resource the larger text-sim community can be. Both on this thread and on the Matrix board, there have been attempts made at constructive criticism by people who really know what they are doing. I feel like those useful fonts of information and critical response have been silenced by hostility from the MF folks. If they don't want to hear people's advice on how to improve and sell more product, then people will quickly stop trying to give it to them. Also, there are people on this board (like you) who would have been willing to buy the game, just to support a guy who has spent his evenings and weekends for the last few years trying to make something for other people to enjoy. I think that most of those people are going to save their $30 now. I know that MF is not a text-based game. But it just seems silly to pick a fight with the text-sim community, which would have been able to provide some customers and some useful feedback over time. |

Exactly how many people who would buy (for anything other than UIC value) the steaming pile of crap that MinFoot seems a virtual certainty to be would ever be a customer for any even semi-serious sports game? Seriously, this is like worrying about getting into a spitwad fight with an organic gardening forum hurting the sales of a sports game company.

Am I the only one who thinks that it's at least a possibility that he lifted some sounds right out of FBPro?
The "Ready" and "Hike" sounds exactly like it did in FBPro. (Not saying he did, but they do sound identical) |

D. Winter's response to the video being posted in the video thread on the Matrix board:
" Yeah.. that's an old build .. I can see the differences just there" Well that's a relief. Awesome. "... Subtle ones.. but there are differences." ....subtle?....nevermind then. |

I keep watching that video in fascination at the apparent ability of the first tackler to teleport himself a few feet to his left.
Perhaps, lightning bolt is coded into the game. |

And I'm not even joking with this question--is that video real or something that someone doctored?

LOL The guy really does end up coming from the left in the game. Suicane just doctored it to make it look like he's teleporting. He did a good job and I don't want to know how much time he spent on that one. |

If you stare at it really closely, it looks more like the guy coming from the left hits his own man, and the ball carrier just falls forward.

If they'd use a real CODEC rather than the DivX / Xvid junk I might. In these days of spyware and trojans, last thing I'm putting on my machine is some freeware video CODEC.

I'm glad that touchdowns can be worth both quarts and liters of milk, accounting for Canada being on the metric system and all.

finally checked out that suicane commerical. not as "my sides hurt!" funny as everyone made it out to be, but i like it. i listened to it twice in a row. he's got pretty good comedic timing.
sov, can you get Suicane to do more of that? tell him to do it on any topic. all in all, well done. Last edited by Anthony : 02-17-2006 at 11:24 PM. |

Anyone notice anything similar here?
Interesting to me, because I know Georgia Tech has had a few trademark battles over the last few years (most notably with the Salt Lake City Buzz--though that was over a slightly different issue). |

Clearly, the Georgia Tech Yellow Jacket is facing to the left while MF's is facing right. It's like comparing Starsky to Hutch.

Hmm, that logo does look very similar. It's impossible to tell from the angle if it is exactly the same.
Am I the only one getting a bit nostalgic for FB Pro 98 while reading through this thread. I wish it would run well on XP (I can't seem to get it to do so.) Of course, I'm probably forgetting all of the flaws in the game.. |

Nice that he had the courtesy to edit out the "registered trademark" symbol -- you know, just to show that his yellowjacket design was an original one.

I agree with that -- it's either lifted, or uncannily similar. Given what we've seen from the graphics above - I'm guessing the former. |
