Then you just have to make sure that she loads her saved game and you load your saved game when you return to play the next time. The ones that are close together in the save list are where it becomes easy to screw up a different person's game (or your own different playthrough).

Thanks.. I put my last save on a memory stick and then had her login to her profile.. my saves don't even show up.

Anybody discover a use for dragon bones or scales yet. I'm keeping them, just assuming I'll be using them for something later, but I'm not sure it's worth the effort to truck them around, and stack up my house with 'em.

I'm at level 9 and I've been able to finish the series of quest prior to this one with ease.

Related to this and all the other leveling questions, the game has some aspects of geographic difficulty like Fallout NV. Some quest lines might be much harder at lower levels (although there is still some scaling by level it is not so generic as Oblivion). Also, some character builds will have disadvantages, for instance I could see craft-heavy characters with all their perks in smithing/alchemy might have trouble taking on a fight head on (although good equipment/kit is always a great equalizer in Bethesda games).

There also seems to be an advantage to focusing up front, at least in distributing perks... a lot are designed to stack, so while the early perks do give nice bonuses to a skill, the jack of all trades will not be getting great multipliers until much higher levels. Developing your money ability as high as you can (and then perking others when you are limited by skill level requirements) will give you at least one hard hitting skill you can rely on as an edge in harder battles. The interesting part is seeing whether concept characters with unconventional super skills (like speech or pickpocketing) get enough oddball benefits to counteract low investment in combat skills.

I"m finding things a touch more difficult past level 20 (think I'm lvl 21 or 22) combatwise for the archer/sneak class.

A buddy of mine who built an unarmed specialist said he was doing great until he got to level 30 and then he had to start over. Not sure what type of build he's constructing now.

They're used to make dragon armor. You need to level you Smithing to 100 to use them (to unlock the Perk you need), I think. Other than that, I don't think they are used for anything.

My necromancer build (second character so far) is interesting but I nerfed it with some dumb perk choices early on. I'm curious how far I can get in the game, particularly since I'm not clearing out dungeons in an area (like I usually do) and instead am pushing on straight through a combo of mainquest and College Winterhold quests.

I wish I stuck with my original plan of buffing up 1 or 2 lines until I got what I wanted... it would have made the difference in a couple of fights I had to muddle through by burning potions.

For miners, I noticed if you jump down from the back door of Bleak Falls Barrow that there is a Corundum ore vein right there. I didn't have a pickaxe, but I think its somewhat more valuable than Iron/Steel.

I think there's a Corundum ore vein right outside of Whiterun also.

Sadly, I had to sacrifice Lydia after a rather tough encounter in the Killkreath Temple.

May she rest in peace.

I'm such a dumbass sometimes. The whole "playing on her profile" thing flew right over my head. If I'd been thinking it through properly I'd have known you had no worries.

Man, the Jarl of Whiterun is powerful.

Speaking of Whiterun...am I the only one who keeps saying Riverrun in my mind? And Winterfel for what's it called up north?

Man...if Bethesda made a GoT RPG...that would just about be the most epically awesome thing in history. It is known.

Bethesda says there will be a patch for the game the week after Thanksgiving.

I haven't really ran into any major bug yet, but if you have, that's when you'll get your patch.

Nope. I do the same thing for Whiterun all the time. I haven't spent much time in Winterhold yet, so I've not had the Winterfell problem, but...

You're fine unless they've changed since Oblivion and gone more the New Vegas 'one or the other' route.

FYI, a fear-enchanted weapon is a great thing...unless in chasing your prey, you run right into the clutches of a Flame Atronach.

Am I the only one that gets a jittery feeling in their legs looking down from a tall tower or over the edge of a cliff?

I am not a fan of heights and I have never played a game where I got the same physicial feeling in high places, that I would get if I was looking over the edge of a 20 story building in real life. Happened last night and I had to remind myself it was a game.

Okay, this may seem extremely trivial but I thought it was the coolest thing. Finally reached the first big town and talked to the Jarl to complete that part of the quest. He gave me equipment as a reward and that put me over the weight limit. I dropped a couple crap pieces that I was carrying to make room and followed him to the next room. A guard ran after me and yelled at me for dropping weapons on the floor. Little things like that can really make a world seem alive.

Also like that you can only sell certain things to certain vendors. It takes a little longer to offload crap buut it's more realistic than something like WoW where I can sell every piece of junk to a bread vendor.

Yeah I love little things like that. For reasons better left unknown, my guy didn't have any armor on. I figured whatever, I'll go into town and offload my items before equipping myself again. As I was running around, some people would comment to me about not wearing any clothes, made me laugh!

Talk to the Jarl's assistant guy in Dragonsreach. You can buy from him and get decor for the house.

I like that it eliminates what happens in a lot of RPGs where you end up doing quests that are out of character for what you're playing just because you need to level up from it. No conflict of having your bad ass orc thief/assassin agreeing to collect 30 flowers for grandma for no payment just because you need the 1000 XP to level up before you do the next story line quest.

Clocking in at 58 hours played. Already more than halfway to the time I played Dragon Age (99 hours).

I'd probably have to get to roughly 3000 or so to match the time I put into World of Warcraft though.

Question related stealing.

If i steal something from a house when nobody else is inside, does the house owner know it was me who stole it and will send me later an assasin or is that only if they catch you while stealing?

Damn it's so hard to decide what kind of player to be. I chose Dark elf and wanted to be an stealth/archer, and love snipping and hunting outside cities so i think i should have picked wood elf... but then i tried the destruction magic and i'm enjoying it a lot so the dark elf is fine... but then i try one handed axe with a shield and find it the most fun way of fighting and plan on doing a red guard warrior character... but then i get a long sword and enjoy using it and plan on starting again as heavy warrior nord or orc...but...but...but...

For those that start over, aren't you spoiled as you know already what is going to happen or do you play on a different way or do other quests first?

I believe you can. Haven't tried it myself, but I know if you put a weapon (or spell) in your favorites, go to your favorites and hover over it - you can assign a number value to it (1-8) for quick weapon switches. I'd guess potions would work too.

Guys name is Proventus Avenicci. He'll sell you a house for 5,000. You can find him in the hold, usually near the Jarl. After you get the house, it'll be a dump (cobwebs, empty, etc). You can pay him to have it cleaned and to add things (storage, cooking & alchemy areas, etc). Could potentially spend another 1250 on that.

Hmm. Interesting - I'm doing the archer/sneak also and just ran into a dungeon (level 11). There was a couple pulls that I wiped a few times on, simply because I couldn't arrow them down as fast as 2-3 guys would get to me. I was worried that as I advanced, the mobs numbers I go against would overwhelm me. Made me consider rolling sword & board. I enjoyed the difficulty and wiping though, just made me re-strategize (a scroll helped). I wouldn't enjoy it if it became overwhelming though.
-Let me know how your archer game is progressing .

Edit : Also, the modding community is already hard at work. Not sure if it's mentioned yet (late to the thread, and not ready to read 13 pages right now) - but http://www.skyrimnexus.com/ has over 100 mods already (most are useless, but some are nice). It's easily searchable, and has useful descriptions as well as informative user feedback. I use a couple of the "artsy" ones, and the game looks alot better to me. I just found a mining one, that'll I'll DL tonight and try (I guess it makes the ore more noticeable - which is all for me, as I've been frustrated with finding ore.)

I have a stealthy archer but not so high level - what was a lifesaver for me was getting a mage companion. That way he won't break out a bow and start firing and ruin my sneak shots, but once the survivors charge into melee he does a lot of damage.

I like this. So far my only real annoyance has been catching my warrior in the back when he darts in front of my arrows haha.

I've been primarily playing as a warrior type, but I've been...I guess the word would be 'multiclassing.' I haven't put any perks into the stealth stuff, but my stealth kills have been as an archer, and I have also gone with magicka boosts for a few of my 18 or 19 levels. I learn spells as I find books, and I've dabbled with the destruction and restoration spells.

But my main lean is definitely melee, as those are the skills I'm at 50+ in.

I've hit level 16 with a sword/board Redguard and I definitely feel like I've hit a bit of a wall as far as things being easy/hard goes.

There are some interesting things going on in Markath
