these refs aren't even calling the right fouls. usually they're missing something that should've been called two seconds earlier.

What a neat story about Montana's Anthony Johnson and his wife in the NY Times. The video is from last year, but still...cool stuff.

Cool story...but isn't the scholarship thing for Shaunte an NCAA violation? I mean, wouldn't that be like accepting cash to go to a school?

I don't think there is any rules against it. Schools have hired relatives for coaching staffs and stuff before.

There was no contract and one would figure if she weren't good enough to help them, they'd have said no. Besides, it's an extremely common practice for faculty (and sometimes, staff) when they're considering an offer to join a school's faculty.

But again, it's just a good story. If she weren't good enough to make the team, it wouldn't have mattered. Or they'd have cut her as soon as they got him signed to his LOI.

He slurred a few times. I thought he had a lisp but I guess it sounds like it is nerves. Either way it's not good.

Ah well. He and Stu Lanz should just do Laker games. We need to get rid of Joel Meyers and Mychal Thompson

First of all, I'd like to give a tip of the hat to everyone with a man-crush on me. I've never been mentioned in a thread while being absent from it nearly as much as I was in this thread last night.

I think we learned what we expected to learn yesterday. The Big East isn't as good as some thought they were. The top teams in the Big 12 played well. I was also very impressed with Washington. Got to watch that whole game and thought they played with a lot of heart.

As for the Texas game, for the record, I was not dancing around naked. I was fully clothed and was wondering why anyone was surprised that a team that engineered the "Great Choke Job of 2010" manage to find another way to miss free throws and snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. It's been that way all conferece season.

Getting off work early today to take in the whole slate of games. Hoping for the best from Mizzou. Need Coach Oliver to run that NCAA record to 0-6.

If you get a chance to watch the Oklahoma State game today, do it. You'll get to see one of the best basketball players you've probably never heard of. James Anderson is an amazing player. He'll put that OSU team on his back at times.

Mainly because those of us in ACC country were trying to figure out how Wake was going to blow this one.

I suppose that's probably true. The ACC's "What the hell?" team beat the Big 12's "What the hell?" team.

C'mon, Clemson. If ever there was a game I wanted you to win, it's this one. Break the streak, get a win.

Looking at my brackets I did for work just before they were complete I thought I might have gone too conservative. Yesterday sucked as it looked like I missed on so many of the lower seeds winning and I even planned for that stuff to happen early, but not enough. I picked horribly at which ones were going to win. The only saving grace is how badly some of my coworkers picked. As long as the upper teams keep winning I might be doing decent in the end.

Yup. This was THE HARDEST game for me to pick because both teams were on such a slide.

I don't think I'd be able to take it if we were in one of the late games tonight.

I can't see anything I've said this morning that wasn't classy. I suppose I called Texas and their 2nd half collapse a 'choke job', but the first Texas fan that calls it anything other than a choke job will be the only one. If the Longhorn football team had a second half like that to finish a season, there would have been a record set for number of suicides in Austin in one day.

Really?

KState looked great but Kansas looked like they were asleep in the first half and most of the second outside a few runs, Baylor let SHS hang around way to long and Texas lost in spectacular fashion.

They hardly blew me away.

KU outscored Lehigh by 24 points after the initial run by Lehigh in the first few minutes. KSU result was never in doubt. Baylor didn't play well but still won by 9. Considering what we saw from some 2 and 3 seeds yesterday, I think that's more than good enough.

Texas is Texas. No one should be surprised by that.

I was really impressed. First time I had seen them play. They've got some lanky athletes on that team that Coach Anderson would love to toss in his system. Really a gutsy performance by them. This coming from someone who's not a Lomar fan.

If West Virginia is going to stand outside the 3 point line and chuck bombs all day they are going to be another Big East team that gets themselves in trouble later in the game.

The Sportsbooks appeared to have picked up something on the Big East as well.

Syracuse started out as an 18 point fav, they are now 15.5
W Virginia went from 16.5 to 15.5
Pitt started at 10 went to 9.5

Looks like Purdue is picking up steam they've gone from 3.5 to 5 point favs.

.

Seems like a decent time to bet on the Big East going forward. Bettors are overreacting to events yesterday that have nothing to do with today. Kind of like how at the race track, you bet the favorite in the race after the underdog wins, because everyone latches on to a meaningless "trend".
