Cloudflare CEO has Twitter's traffic completely tanking in July. That seems by design with the limits put out, but also in my personal experience with my timeline being light on content. Meanwhile Threads has hit 100 million users and counting.

I really want the cage match to happen.

If I was Zuck, I'd be prepared to make him suffer. A long buildup in pain and humiliation.

For all that people shit on the idea of Elon as owner/CEO of a social media company since he had no experience in that area, the one argument you could make in his favor is that he's a tech genius so at least the physical nuts and bolts of twitter--the actual tech side of it--should improve under his leadership.

And instead he's had to throttle his own website because it cannot handle too much traffic.

Any vestigial idea I had post-Trump that wealth has any correlation with competence is pretty much gone at this point.

He's never entering a cage with Zuck.

He'll demand some unattainable condition for the fight, and when it cannot be met, he'll drop out and his fanboys will blame everyone but him.

Probably true.

It would be great if they reoriented this towards a charity thing. A friendly exhibition match, like Adonis v Drago . Donate all their proceeds to the Gates Foundation or like.

Gates Foundation? I don't think Elon can do that without drawing the ire of his fanboys. Would you want him to fund the next experiment in mind control or whatever the fuck it is these trolls believe Gates is doing to the world?

They also cut off Google from indexing their site. That's probably a lot of outside traffic they are missing out on.

The only way it'll happen is if there is a lawsuit forcing him to get into the cage, similar to his purchase of Twitter.

Lead developer for Threads said regarding this week the chronological timeline, follower only feed, hashtags and search function should all be added. Once that is done, I'm not seeing an advantage to Twitter beyond an abundance of white nationalist with blue checkmarks and porn. I'm not underestimating how long porn might keep Twitter propped up.

There's something about the way the writer casually - and irrelevantly - mentions the outcome of the game that made me laugh.

But while at the June 25 game, which saw the Houston Astros beat the Dodgers, his phone kept going off until he and his mother realized something horrible was underway.

I wouldn't want it that "physical", happy enough with humiliation ending with a submission. Sometimes you just need to respond to internet bullies who talk smack, insult you etc. and stand up to them.

Eagerly waiting for more details this Fri. Sounds interesting but his most recent track record hasn't been great.

Isn't the whole "X" thing like a 20 year old marketing ploy? What's next, Matthew Perry as the new X spokesperson?

He basically bought it on order to shut it down. Shut it down as it existed. He still has the infrastructure but he's killed most everything else.

From a 2017 article. He owned it, then PayPal had it, and then he (re)bought it from PayPal.

Elon Musk buys his old X.com domain from PayPal | Engadget
Quote:
Elon Musk is without a doubt the most famous single-letter domain owner ever, as his company X.com eventually became PayPal. Unfortunately, when Musk was pushed out, the domain (with its aught-tastic logo, above) stayed behind with PayPal. However, the SpaceX and Tesla CEO has bought it back for an unknown sum, according to Domain Investing and a tweet by Musk. Nobody's saying how much he paid, but as a term of reference, Z.com sold for around $6.8 million three years ago.

This history behind Musk and X is humorous. Apparently he tried to change Paypal to X-Paypal and PP people were pissed because Paypal was starting to be used like a verb and adding the X was problematic, and then there was the focus groups which thought it signified something pornographic. Yet, he continues to push X on everything.

Is Musk basically the billionaire version of Gronk? He chuckles every time he sees the X or something?

I think he's just really dumb and surrounded by people who will not tell him that his ideas are dumb.

He also got booted from Paypal because he gave credit cards with high limits out to anyone with a pulse and it almost bankrupted the company.

Heh.

Elizabeth Warren should hold a hearing on raising the inheritance tax. And the entire hearing is her just putting up a picture of Trump and a picture of Musk and making everyone stare at them for two hours.

They really getting rid of light mode for dark mode only? Not that I matter, but white letters on a black background gives me some sort of dizziness/maybe motion sickness? I don’t know why either, it’s just a thing that happens and I can’t do it so that literally would be the end of me visiting X or Twitter or whatever it is at this point.
